snow in the sierra nevada. we do have enough snow up there for a winter weather advisory not going to halt but might slow you down a bit as you try to get up that direction. and a couple of sprinkles in the santa cruz mountains. that's really the only thing we're talking this morning. if you are in areas just west of highway 17, you've some light as far as our temps go. it has been cold. we do have our next several mornings with frost advisories for the north bay. it's just been a couple chile next few days as a cold front passes through dropping temperatures into the 40's and 50's for now later today will be topping out in the mid 50's calistoga. you fell to the 30's earlier. now you're back up at 43. well, alameda and concord currently sitting at 51. the biggest issue today is going to be our breezy conditions, not excessively windy, but 25 miles per hour gusts and you'll notice those breezy conditions later on. i'll be talking about the details of this weekend with all the sunshine and our storm next week. a

we've had a record snow pack up in the sierra nevada. now you're seeing a system that's melting a lot of that at lower elevations and multiple inches of rain. so we have flash flood warnings up and down the western sierra front as we do see some of the smaller rivers and streams starting to fill up really quickly. we do have i-80 still open, but it is excessively windy and just very slushy and wet up there tonight as temperatures drop back below freezing, we're likely to have some ice formation and lot of roads. not a weekend. you want to be up in the sierra. this is the biggest impact from the storm. in fact, you just see a little strip of blue at the very crest of the sierra nevada. that's because snow level has crept to higher and higher elevations and that heavy rain washing out a lot of that dense snow pack on many of those slopes. as for the bay area, things have quieted down pretty substantially for the north bay. still a few sprinkles here and there for the peninsula in the east bay. most of our rainfall south of san jose and 101

so still a very active forecast for the sierra nevada. we're not talking inches of snow but feet of snow at the very crest of the sierra. the problem is snow level has risen to 7,000 feet. now. so it's really on those those highest peaks still holding on to it. areas below that like lake tahoe are actually seeing rainfall this morning and rain snow mix will continue over the next several days. you have slushy days and cold nights that could result in a lot of ice formation on some of those roads. it's not going to be easy for travels up in the sierra flooding risk continues for the bay green areas, which is all of us is under a flood watch through sunday. but those red spots on the map, those are flood warnings and especially drainage is out of the santa cruz mountains and small streams in the north bay are seeing river levels starting to rise because of all this runoff from this last night's storm 50's for daytime highs today and it's a range of 50's to 60's for the rest of this forecast. very much so on the warmer side of things. shower
