lifeless. we haven't received an update. we know that one of them is in stable condition. the other was listed in critical condition. hercules police chief joseph vasquez says just before 7.30, thursday night, the contra costa county office of the sheriff notified his department. they were looking for the mazda. >> which was reported stolen and connected with recent crimes inhe east bay. when the driver exited interstate 80 and entered hercules officers attempted a traffic stop or a portion of the pursuit >> with pretty short, that's less than 30 seconds long. and it ultimately ended in a traffic which was fatal. the driver of the mazda has been identified as 20 year-old ralph white. the 3rd. he was found near a liquor store shortly after the crash and taken into custody. >> police also located the gun and the mazda tony dylan owns giant years and saw the suspect running away and help direct police to his location,

california's most precious resource. thanks to recent storms in the sierra snowpack, more than 225% of average for this time of year. the governor says it's time to the east. some water use restrictions. >> not >> that newsome today signing this executive order to officially the state's request that californians voluntarily cut back ter use 15%. the governor also announcing the state water project to 700 plus mile conveyance system that delivers water from northern california through the central valley and southern california is expected to deliver 75% of its requested supplies in 2023. that is a big improvement from the last estimate in january when state officials anticipated delivering just 35% of requested water supplies. it's a milestone. >> none of us could have imagined. we're having this conversation yesterday a few

months ago that we'd be where we are today. farmers expressing some relief after years of extremely dry conditions. obviously, this is great news food grows where water flows. we can't do what we do without water newsom's executive order also permits local districts. if they so choose to refine some of their emergency water plans, including calls to limit outdoor watering. but even with that, he says california's water situation is not perfect. are we out? >> of the drought is the drought over in the state of california and. >> well, i want to affirm your instinct that it should be feels like it is. it is and continues to be complicated that he says is because the storms did not provide much help to some california region still in moderate or severe drought, including the klamath basin to the north, as well as areas in the southeast. that depend on the shrinking colorado river. >> newsom says that's why he still urges conservation. and he's putting his focus on diverting flood stage water above ground and moving it to

storage basins underground. i think we need to do a better job. public and state senator brian dolly says the state has not prioritized water capturing infrastructure. he's authored a bill to streamline reservoir construction, including the long planned sites reservoir in colusa county set to go up sometime in the next decade. >> they're expected to get the permitting done by 2030. that's not acceptable. so we need to that water in a in a very more efficient way. not just reducing water, capture the water. it's going to the ocean. and newsom makes clear restrictions for what he considers wasteful water consumption. like watering down your sidewalk are still in effect, reporting in yolo county. 8 on wallace kron. 4 news. let's take a live look in this year right now, interstate 80 at donner summit where there is plenty of snow on the ground. lauren, to keep remember you talking about ski season going on and on and on. yeah. we're hearing yesterday that now they can have it all the way. the 4th of july maybe and maybe beyond. right. i mean, just simply amazing amounts of snow up there. we've got more to calm.

>> in the sierra nevada, seen a couple light snow flurries out there right now. but i think this looks like a good weekend. if you're headed up there, you still want to keep those chains with you and plan keep the sleeping bag of food. little water in the car with your head up the high country just maybe see a couple of snow showers. i think across some of the peaks as we head through the weekend. but no major storm expected over the weekend. so if you want to get up, yeah, not a bad time to do it. now. if you plan on sticking around, there's going to be another significant storm impacting all of california as we head in toward next week, monday through wednesday. a winter storm watch has been posted. we could be talking about a couple, maybe 3 feet of snow the higher peaks from that storm system may be even more. we'll have more details as we get a little bit closer. but yeah, it looks good for this weekend, but pack all your warm weather gear, freezing temperatures for highs. only 32 on saturday sunday. you drop a little bit below freezing at 31 38 on monday. so it has been a tremendous year for snow and look at this for the totals and it's impressive act 180% of normal

in the northern sierra nevada, the central sierra nevada, 230% of normal and the southern sierra. you're looking at almost 300% of normal for this time of year. and there's plenty more snow to models picking up on a 2. you might see a couple more scattered snow showers acro the peaks. nothing on the really big ridge of high pressure here yet we get that ridge building up, you've got a chance to kind of leaves the door open. so as you get to saturday afternoon, you see maybe couple of pop-up showers. couple those cumulus clouds over the mountain tops and more of that on sunday as well. and then we get into next weekend. but here you go. you've got a significant storm rolling in that will impact the bay area and the high country to lot of heavy snow up there. a lot of rain, lot of wind for much. california fact that is going to drag all the way into southern california again. so we talk about the incredible year. we've had southern california also experiencing a just an amazing water. your tremendous amounts. they're they're well above the average, going to see more rain and likely more snow in the sierra nevada. adding to those totals as we

the bay area. coming up, of course, we had a nice day today. i think we've got a nice weekend ahead. but beyond that, yeah, we're not done with the wintry weather. we still have a very active pattern out there. here's the very latest forecast. you can see the pacific got high pressure out there in the middle of the pacific. but along the coastline still kind of the open door to allow some of these storms to run in the california least. northern california, some showers there, the bay area, just a couple of passing clouds and cool and brisk conditions. it will be windy again by the afternoon along the coastline tomorrow and the same with sunday, too. but all of a sudden you begin to see an area of low pressure drop out the gulf of alaska. you see that be big green batch moving up from the south and built both combined and then move along the coastline by monday. and so we could to see some showers develop by monday night and the winds will start to ramp up. now, the forecast is a little bit different today. it moves the center of that loan. this is really the most important part regarding the winds of moves that a little further to the north. so more toward a mendocino fort bragg. that's where we

see some of the strongest winds in the sonoma and not really rolling down right in the middle of the bay area. so you see it right there. that low just moving in along the coastline as we head in toward a tuesday afternoon with some very strong gusty winds and then continuing right through into wednesday as well. so we're going to see a very stormy period during that time. some heavy rain, gusty winds, real possibility and more trees likely to come down. the more power outages, too. so, yeah, it looks like things are going to get to a pretty wild as we get into tuesday, especially that of the winds will likely ramp up this. the forecast starting at tuesday in the morning. you're seeing some of those gusts over 50 miles per hour and the rain drops. yeah, plenty of those, too. in fact, some plac s over an inch of rain. i think we'll be talking about maybe 2, maybe 3 inches of rain or more across some of the mountain tops. so, yeah, going to join next couple of days. you've got some sunshine tomorrow. temperatures up in the 50's and the 60's. good day to get out there and kind of clean up the yard. if you have 2 things might blow around a sunday. looks like another nice day. monday we start to by tuesday. yeah.

another wild, wet and windy day around the bay area continuing into wednesday, too. >> thank you. are one of the most famous beers in the bay area. perhaps the world made its 2023 debut and a crime charles clifford was at the russian river brewing company as people some of them waiting hours for a taste of that annual. >> the younger release. >> friday morning the russian river brewing company through its doors open to celebrate the 19th annual release of its popular playing the younger hundreds of craft beer. fans started lining up around 06:00am here in downtown santa rosa. i love craft beer. reggio tar came all the way from vancouver, canada. he's never even had playing the younger before. no, never had >> i've heard great things about it. wanted to try it out. and it's. on my checklist of craft things to do once inside. all customers are allowed 3.10, ounce pours and then 2 bottles. >> to go over. natalie says she loves this time of year

>> actress and busisswoman glenys pow trout outro rather took the stand in her ski crash trial today. outro testified about the 2016 accident at a utah ski resort and denied that she engaged in any risky behavior before the

crash. retired optometrist is suing claiming that she crashed into him on the slopes. he claims the accident left him with broken ribs and brain damage set as caused his quality of life to go down. outro says he crashed into her and he's trying to exploit her celebrity and wealth. he's suing for $300,000 in damages. she filed a countersuit for one dollar plus attorneys fees. the trial is expected to wrap up early next week. >> 3 months after an almost killed him. actor jeremy renner says he's happy to have a snow plow back. he celebrated the return on his instagram page, sharing some photos of these are older photos of that right after he was injured. those the plow. he says the snow plow got a police escort on its way back to his nevada home is being a good sport. he broke more than 30 bones when the plow rolled over on top of him. new year's day. he had been trying to help dig out a relative's car.
