6:31 pm
you just a really rough ride in the sierra nevada, not advisable and you'll see periods where we get these really gusty winds with these storms and all of a sudden you just can't see anything of white out conditions up in the high country. so there you go. you can see the very latest. you've got 80 50 and you can see right now the snow that's rolling through across the sierra nevada. and then it turns into a rain a little bit lower. and that's the case is we've got much warmer air that is beginning to factor into weather here tonight. and in the sierra nevada. so winter storm warnings have been posted until sunday and well between now and then we could be talking about 6, maybe 8 feet of snow. and then if you look all the way through next week, some forecast 10, maybe 15 feet altogether. so we're talking about a tremendous amount of snow. of course, those heavier snows with this one probably coming above 7,000 feet or so. so tonight, here's a heavy snow, some very gusty winds, ridge line winds. some of those gusts over 100 miles an hour. and the snow levels starting at about 6500.
