in the south bay mostly sunny and 48. we have a best chance of fog through the east bay and san francisco. temperatures for tomorrow an incredible rebound. we will be back into the 70s. 72 in palo alto. 74 in morgan hill. the mid 70s in oakland. i see things turning. we are looking at 15 to 25 degrees colder once we get to thursday's forecast. also bringing us a chance of rain and even thunderstorms mixing in. overall totals will be the highest on thursday. we are not expecting flooding, that we expect a quarter to a half inch on thursday. on friday only a trace amount. it will also bring snow to the sierra. snow totals adding up 9 inches in kingvale, and 9 inches in kirkwood. classico could see some snow. speaking of this snow we did get the april snowpacked numbers in. this is when we should've had most of our snowfall, and the numbers are impressive. up to 119% for the north sea are. and this is all important because it provides a third of the states water supply. this is unusual. we have had back to back seasons of ab

a warm day up there in the north bay through the south bay as well. still reading at 81 in san jose. and walnut creek looks to be our warmest temperatures out there into coco county. as we talk about those headlines, i mentioned this evening sunny and warm. it was perfect for the parade, picnics. tomorrow we're going to notice a bit of cooling, especially along the coast with a chance of more of that drizzle and fog hugging the immediate coastline. if you move farther inland, it's still going to be a pleasant day to celebrate earth day. we might have to be looking for our sweaters once again and possibly the umbrella late week. we'll talk about that in just a second. but look at these temperatures for tomorrow. we do upper 60s in san francisco to some 70s around the immediate bay. and maybe hinting at those 80s once again, but further on inland. livermore, san jose, and into fairfield. here's where you'll notice the change. starting on tuesday, we get more of that impact from the marine layer and that onshore breeze, bringing down those temperatures.

and then early thursday morning patchy fog especially in the north bay. be mindful of that if you are up and out early. let's talk about the rain. the cooling effect will be felt with the arrival of the cloud cover by friday. so far it looks like the north bay will be the first place to see rain late friday into early saturday. and you will notice have your pockets here. we are monitoring the instability. there could be thunderstorm activity. a lot of it is over the water. but we could see moderate rain. this is at around 5:00 a.m. and then we have scattered activity early morning saturday. that is just taking it to saturday. this could change as we get closer to thursday and friday. the areas in red we are talking 1 to 2 inches. everywhere else could see less and an inch. and trending lower for the sera. there could still be dangerous driving conditions. elevations above 7000 feet 56 to 7 inches. it will be nice, but you have to get there before the conditions get treacherous. so far temperatures will cool by 20 degrees. >> that is a big drop. >>> coming

nbc bay area's bob redell joins us. the situation has been complicating things out there. >> so the trailer's been moved. the issue is the repair of the road. we're at the northbound 238 connector to southbound 880. cal trans is out here. you see those orange trash bins in the back of that truck? what they've got to do, they have to fill those with sand and put them up against the median which is to the left side of the truck that has the flashing horizontal yellow bar. what used to be a metal accordion-like structure, during the big rig accident this morning that truck took it out. this is video from the newsroom from skyranger gives you a better chance of what is taking so long. just a lot of road repair and it was 50, 55 minutes ago this is also newer video when they removed this tractor trailer. the reason why it took so long, that tractor trailer overturned at 1:30 this morning. it wasn't until 10:00 that they were able to finally remove it. it's because it was stuffed with 35,000 pounds of frozen chinese food and

look up here at the north bay. see the little low spot, north point reyes, as you start to creep into sonoma county. that little gap called the petaluma gap. let me show you another one. this is the better known one, the golden gate. that's the other obvious gap through which this time of year the marine layer starts coming back in the morning. it's only april 1st, but we're going to start to look a little like may gray. watch tomorrow, the very beginning sign of a change, a little stratus clouds starting to filter in through the petaluma gap there and through the golden gate. it's not terribly widespread tomorrow. you'll have to be up real early to notice it, but wednesday everybody wakes up and it's widespread may gray marine layer everywhere. it's almost like a seasonal change when this starts to happen. our entire lives are going to be dominated by this from may, june, july, august, even into september. this will be one of the first showings of the season. it's starting to fill back in because it's getting push
