i read that the new york city subway, which i'm sure some of you have been on. if not, i encourage you to try it. has 16 different types of vehicle in active service, some of which go back to 1964, so i would like to see how they manage slotting employees into 16 different types of vehicles. we have to work on our mean distance between failures. i'm seeing as 5,000, 6,000 miles between failures. that's the range of the new york city subways back in the days of the graffiti, and the broken lights and all of that. they worked through that, but they still have issues that they have to solve. i mention to you as a person of disabilities, that sideways seats are very important to me. i ask that you not totally eliminate the sideways facing seats. some sideways facing seats must be preserved in these vehicles. i'm not saying it has to be one or the other. there must be a reasonable mix. i do not have to explain to you my reasons for my disabilities, but please do not eliminate the sideways facing seats, and remember, safety above all. thank you. >> supervisor mandelma

we're competing against projects not just in new york, but projects in los angeles. the other recommendation is we need to engage the public directly and make sure that the value proposition and that the shared goals of this program are known around environmental remediation and protection and environmental development. we heard a lot of this from the shake holders to have the operators agree on the scope of this project, both timing and what will their contributions be and ultimately how it will serve their customers, so that's a really important aspect of this. at this time, i'm going to turn it over to my colleague, ignacio, to walk-through the rest of our recommendations. so relating to the rail program funding, which is one of the major components of what the expert panel was tasked to look into, one of the main kind of findings or recommendations of the program's already strong claims on existing sources, any project of this nature, y. as john will know, we have very ambitious emerging rail projects, both caltrain on the peninsula, as well as transbay crossing

york and restored in about 1975. it is an absolutely spectacular building. it holds, depending on the crowd , approximately 1,000 people, and this is on four levels. it has 80 facilities for large meetings, it's got a former tenderloin police station in the basement, which is now used for intimate dance parties. it is a great space for conventions to take place, and that is pretty much what we intend to use the facility for. there is an upstairs space that is a meeting room for about 100, outside of it because it has been brought up already, i will mention that there is a small deck outside of the room as you saw before. it is right across from the proper hotel, but it is surrounded and set off the property. if you are looking out that way, it is about 20 feet to the properly line and it is totally enveloped by our property, and very solid marble walls and stone walls. it tends to deflect the sound and keeps it inside. again, this has been open several times, there has never been a sound complaint from the property.
