most everything he has done. i have personally been involved in, cheered bond issues for parks. i have been involved in school bond issues, cultural bond issues. in many, many charities. i can tell you, from my personal standpoint that every time i have made a request to support something that is good for the city, he has never turned it down. he is one of those unique human beings who just simply cares deeply about the city. i want to pass on a personal incident that i not find a highlighted that. this is about 14 years ago, my wife and i were walking on west marin bijan we ran into warren and chris helman, and we set down on the sand dune and talked about how lucky we were to be in part of this country -- in this part of the country. warren lived at his watch and said i have to go, and i asked why, how could he leave paradise on a saturday afternoon, and he said i am giving a talk to a community group about san francisco, and i have to be there by 6:00. and i thought, who else on a saturday would volunteer to t

[applause] >> is there any other public comment on this item? public comment is closed. president buell: before i ask commissioner lee to make the item, i'm going to hear from commissioner levitan. commissioner levitan: the adage of no good deed goes unpunished could never have been more true for everything warren did. he could have backed away, but he did not. he fought hard because he believed in it and he believed in access to the park into the institutions for generations to come. that is one thing i will think about when i think about warren. what i find so touching about what has been said today -- everybody seems to have a story about warren, whether it is personal or on a larger scare. le. maybe they heard some of his great jokes

i do not want to put us in a position where the work has already started and the money has not been found. with the grant ones, we can say that it is a grant. if the grant has been given, we should have some evidence of it. that was my retroactive cry for this last board meeting as president. commissioner fewer: i think that is a really good suggestion about the grants. that is why a lot of them have recently come before us. i do want to say in defense of staff, it has gotten much better. thank you for bringing that out. thank you for standing strong on that. staff has heard it loud and clear. >> at some point, i would like to do something about how we have this process. at some point where they can get on-line and folks can do it. >> we are rapidly approaching the century. commissioner wynns: there is a whole other step that i am hoping we will eventually take. it is going to take some conversation on the part of the board after some sort of infrastructure recommendation. it seems to me that there are a lot of resolutions that we are voting on twice. we voted on the school budgets. i am
