we are proud to be domiciled in london, which provides us advantages in terms of time zone. when it came to listing, we were sort of hugely impressed by the depth of knowledge of our space and of market infrastructure companies, of which we are one, here in the united states. there was great receptivity and we have been able to assemble a sort of fantastic book of high-quality investors who are all very knowledgeable about our space. i think that is what drove our decision. katie: two years ago, you tried to sell shares in london. did not go through with those plans. weak demand was part of that. what does demand future look like in the u.s. versus the u.k., especially now versus two years ago? ian: i think the company has really transformed from where we were sort of three years ago when we did try to list in london. the firm is four times bigger than it was then. we have had a much longer track record of growth. we have been able to grow our profit consecutively for a decade. that extra few years has made a huge difference in terms of the receptivity from clients. we just

david: it's often said lloyd's of london would often insure. are there things you won't ensure if somebody says i'm worried about my wedding being rained out or something like that? is there any insurance you won't provide? peter: we are specific in terms of what we want to underwrite. it has to be where we can deploy capital and get a fair return. we don't reflect the way lloyd's can insure almost anything. it's much more a traditional specialty company that would have real strong expertise and scale in the areas that we underwrite. david: housing insurance is a big part of your business, i assume. what is the biggest risk for you in providing insurance for people's homes? peter: complexity has been the density built up in areas with significant exposure. you think about the southeast of the united states for wind or wildfire in california. what happened as an effect of the pandemic was, people moved into those areas and make it up, two and a half million dollar house cost 5 million during the pandemic and people put up a tent. all of a sudden

obviously the spread between shanghai prices and london prices has been a feature. that's also very understandable from a fundamental perspective. you have a quota for gold into china. of course, there's been a lot of pressure on that quota because really, if you want to diversify your investments in china, there isn't much else. the real estate market has been under incredible pressure. the stock market has been highly volatile. gold has been very low in comparison to those other ideas. for us as a wealth manager, we've always advocated to use gold as a diversification within a broader portfolio context. that's what is important to keep in mind here. paul: just a couple minutes left. i want to get your views on oil as well. we've seen tensions in the middle east abating somewhat. the price has been ticking up over the past 24 hours or so. what's your view on oil? are you a buyer of energy names? >> look, we like oil. we've been trading oil in a range between u.s. 85 per barrel and 95 per barrel. we like the ownership of diversified energy in particular. u.s. energy
