[inaudible] [inaudible] >> the terror suspect is in custody. who is ahmad khan rahami? >> here's what we know so far. according to the fbi he is a 28-year-old. he was born in afghanistan and he is a naturalized u.s. citizen. according to the elizabeth mayor, he lived above his family's restaurant in elizabeth which was called first american fried chicken. with at least his father and his two brothers, possibly even a sister. >> the suspect we believe was there and live there. how long he lived there or when, i do not know at this time. >> i also confirmed that he went to a county college from
12:35 am
2010 - 2012 where he was a criminal he was a criminal justice major. however he did not graduate. other details are coming out but they are about his family who is not in their home which is above the restaurant at the time the fbi raided it early in the morning. i was just at a press conference with the fbi as well as senator menendez and senator cory booker. i ask if they found the family yet and if they're able to question them. the answer was no. according to the mayor the restaurant was a constant nuisance to the neighborhood and it was the focus of several community meeting. >> it had to do with a lot of people hanging out front of the store at all hours of the night as well as congregating and enforcement problems. [inaudible] >> now the father then filed a lawsuit against the city claiming that he we had been discriminated against because of his ethnicity. when i asked the mary about this he said that
12:36 am
they lost that case. however there was other encounters with law enforcement. i talked to residents in their area and especially some of the local business owners who tell me they did not know much about them. they said they were not in contact with them and in fact they were kind of mysterious. >> i've not had contact with the family. i been here 16 years and they have been here 8 - 10 years. they're kind of like that outcast of the neighborhood. >> there's one person i spoke to had who had eaten inside the restaurant. >> normal chicken shack. normal restaurant. the guy seemed pretty sociable. >> what he know you know about when they found him? he was in a doorway of a local bar? >> s, from the press conference with a set is they found him passed out in front of the bar in the doorway actually when the bar owner came up. he was the first concern the suspect was laying on glass. he did not know who he was. but then as he once he saw him
12:37 am
he called authorities. >> okay you're going to have more on tomorrow's chasing about the family. keep digging. diana, you have caught up with governor christie where he took questions about the recent bombings and terror attacks. >> i would say he took questions pretty just opened his town hall with those remarks where he had this to say about the bombings in new york and new jersey over the weekend. [inaudible] that's it. it's not that complicated. >> the governor said that he believes the event that took place seaside park, elizabeth and he thinks they are connected. he spoke with president obama this morning on the topic. no word word on what was discussed. the governor made a point to say that language does matter. >> this is what i'm talking about -- [inaudible]

>> if all the headlines of the bombings from new york, seaside height in elizabeth, one of the things that's on the headlines but not for us is the fact that monday marks the start of the bridge gate trial of governor christie's former top aides. we have a team chaser coverage on this. diana is with governor christie. alex is going to give us analysis. i want to start, you are outside the courthouse in newark as a trial got underway. what you got? >> i am chasing the bridge gate trial in today was day one. we heard opening arguments, bridget kelly is governor christie's former deputy chief of staff and bill baroni is the former deputy director at the port authority. kelly and perrone are facing nine counts including the accusation of misusing port authority resources to punish the mayor afford lee for refusing to endorse governor christie for his reelection. >> we show the infamous e-mail by kelly, quote time for traffic problems in fort lee. kelly's attorney played down her role in the administration. he said that she had not ozment governor christie's governor chief of staff. he said she was in the role for only a couple of months before bridge gate happen. he said that she did not misuse
12:44 am
port authority resources, meaning the george washington bridge and closing lanes on the bridge because she simply did not have that kind of power. she said the port authority port authority is run by two governors, governor cuomo and governor christie and bridget kelly was low on the totem pole. i've been chasing her since the beginning the bridge gate, she's always wearing pink. today she was wearing a black suit, black jacket, shiny black heels and a black purse. i noticed there was a little i noticed there was a little pink under the fabric inside her purse. >> alex you are at the courthouse in newark, help us break down what happened today. >> day one of the bridge gate trial is any indication of how the next six weeks of this case are going to go, we are in for one hell of a right. the story that's been on the front page for three years still has the ability to throw surprises our weight like when the u.s. government said that governor christie was told about the lane closure to the george washington bridge while they were going on. that was at a september 11 memorial ceremony in 2013 weller bill baroni and david allegedly break to him about what they had
12:45 am
done to get his approval. the opening same same for both the prosecution and the defense made a lot about the positions of the people who were on trial here. the defense trying to make a baroni and kelly seem subordinate to wild steamed while the said while sitting cannot do anything without brownies consent. i have to say that he is going to be a major part of this and threw him governor governor chris christie and his administration will be on trial. he has been likened by the governor himself according to baroni's lawyer to mr. wolf from pulpal fiction. do you remember harvey - my character to clean up the car that vincent was driving when they accidentally blew the brain off of the guy while going over a bum. according to michael, baroni's lawyer, that is exactly what governor christie has said in the past about wildenstein. a person like that at the port authority they're saying he was there for a reason. the governor new falwell who
12:46 am
they were going to the port authority. by the way, the evidence is going to show that is exactly while he sent that. that event seems to say that wildenstein was there to make trouble and that kelly and perrone were there on the sideline. i know that you know bill baroni, i know him to. way back from 2,006,006 when he was in the state legislature. according to his lawyer that was also a period of time when he was cooperating with the fbi as an undercover informant for four years between 2006 - 2010 assisting on corruption cases and bringing information about lobbyists. this doesn't necessarily have a connection to this particular case but the port authority brought it up to try and vouch for baroni's character. it appears the defense is going to say that wildenstein was the
12:47 am
mastermind of all of this. and that baroni and kelly were along for the ride. the question is will that save them in the end question mark's early with the massive amount of evidence the prosecution intends to submit and while steen himself who will be on the stand soon. >> everybody gets their day in court. thank you. >> today during a town hall on the fairness formula we all got alerts on our phone saying that the prosecutors in the bridge gate trial say that christie knew about the george washington bridge scandal. so after the town hall i ran after the governor to get his reaction. governor, prosecutors allege that you knew about bridge gate, what is your response? >> better than getting yelled at area so i will take it. >> take what you can get with him, right? so did anybody else ask him about that is the alerts were going off? >> no. so again this town hall was really a time for residents to ask their questions to the governor. so so the press usually abides by that.
12:48 am
afterwards i went running after him, nobody else was at the door when i saw him leave and. >> what did the residents want to talk about? as their disconnect between people that have access to the governor at the town hall and the media? clearly everybody in the media was interested inn talking about bridge gate. was anybody at the event #a local resident. >> no. i thought it was interesting but then again i don't how many local citizens walk around with alerts popping up on their phone every time there's breaking news. i'm somebody who is interested in that. i know other reporters are in you are. how many other people are interested in the day-to-day actions when it comes to a bridge gate trial? >> that's what we do. >> i cut out with bill on the radio this morning and met some politicians and comedians. they are promoting new performance stand up comedy and stress factory. >> former an owner of the stress factory were all there talking about giving tips for your standup routine.
12:49 am
>> i would be on too long. limit the time. >> you know stuff but i don't know he's serious. >> the event is for a great cause. all of the money raised will be for funding alzheimer's research. >> there's new hair trend taken over instagram and it is very cool. woman with super long hair, our wrapping it up into buns on the top of their head and letting it cascade down. you have no idea who started this trend but thank you so much for helping me waste hours of my life. >> protesters were near the finish line in a race when he started to get wobbly. his brother who was behind him and in third place grabbed johnny and helped him run the last few hundred yards. and through him across the finish line. >> ultimate goal is to turn this home into a civil rights museum.

>> we have change the world. >> this project is bringing good things to neighborhoods like about it would. why let someone else have all the fun? the sometimes haphazard, never boring ...fun. the why can't it smell like this all the time ...fun. the learning the virtue of sharing ...fun.

why let someone else have all the fun? that's no fun. it's baking season. warm up with pillsbury. >> coming up next. >> it looks like the baby runs

away, or so you think. >> you mess with the when it comes to risking social security on the stock market... pat toomey wrote the book. "i'm...i've got a whole chapter in my book where i... specifically lay out how i think we should... reform social security." toomey's plan requires wall street and bankers to manage... the accounts. collecting fees out of your social security that could...

total billions. fees they collect, even if the market crashes and... seniors lose everything. pat toomey's looking out for wall street, not pennsylvania. dscc is responsible for the content of this advertising. >> i want to just make a note -- >> check out the video chasing off with a matador. it looks like the baby runs away, or so you think. he puts the guy flat on his back and then even turns around to trample over him again. they say don't mess with the bull, you'll get the horns. it seems it doesn't matter what age. they don't even need horns. the story couple months back and the owner received a demolition notice and sense than the local devil at naacp have been fighting to get the home recognized as a historical landmark. congressman john lewis says it is crucial that this piece of history be saved for future generations. >> the snatches of a change in america, we have change the world. >> now i was out here and there has been a lot of cleanup with the city of camden has been doing. have actually taken away a lot of trees and painted it to look a little bit better. it still is not safe for people to go in side the actual home. >> this project is bringing good things to neighborhoods like i

thought it was. then they did painting of the windows on the house and painting of the door. painting of the side windows to bring a little of life are back to it. hopefully this is the start of something big. >> activist patrick and the congressman and camden's mayor mayor are hoping with the support of congressman john lewis that the department of environmental protections and the we'll put it on the state national register for historic status. the ultimate goal is to turn this ordered a poem into a civil rights museum and that is something that congressman john lewis says he is fully behind and will do everything in his power to make sure it happens. >> i would love to come back here and visit. [inaudible] and when this building is restored. >> i have to ask, all of the people you mentioned how many are going to reach into their own bank accounts to pay for this? are they expecting that once it gets classified the
12:57 am
taxpayers will do a? >> know, once it gets classified gets classified they say they can apply for federal grants were state grants because that is what happens when you get the historic landmark status. >> when you talk about the federal grant, that's all of us. that is still us doing it. i don't see how this is a valuable, but a plaque, not the building down. >> i actually agree with bill on this one. i say take it down, put a plaque, it's going to save us a lot of money in the long run. >> hey it's your buddy hank. i got your back porch weather, but i have to say goodbye. i have to pass this off to somebody but i don't know who. >> well hank your cousin frank is here. i don't know if you remember me. do you know how to do the weather? >> yes, look look at the clouds. >> called the deal done. >> okay good luck down in philly, we'll talk soon. >> good stuff. >> well time for the weather
