>> family, kids, you know, this guy -- he was kind of shaky. >> the they have stole about 400 bucks from the register held a gun to the employees and robbed them. he's angry but he says it won't scare him away. >> not going to scare me. it's not going to stop me. you know. it's not going to stop me from what i'm doing. >> reporter: surveillance video shows the suspect robbing grocery store on thursday the latest in a string of robberies within the last week. two pizza shops and grocery store all win a two block radius of each other. police believe one man is responsible for all three robberies. >> he take money from the register and check everybody's pockets and took all the money. >> pete' pizza on 54th street was robbed on tuesday. the manager says he hopes police catch the suspect so his employees can feel safe coming to work. >> make us feel uncomfortable working. try to do the best thing for them and hope they can catch him as soon as possible.

>> reporter: and again, tonight that suspect is still on the loose. so if you know anything, call southwest detectives. iain back to you. >> sabina, thank you also developing to night crews battling fast-moving brush fire in fairfield, california. the flames spreading to homes and forcing people to leave the area. the fire is causing serious traffic issues along some major highways. it's not clear how this started but firefighters say it shows no signs of slowing down. >> bensalem police arrest a boyfriend and girlfriend in connection with a deadly hit-and-run. it happened on one of the township's busiest roads. police say the woman behind the wheel was driving with a suspe suspended license. fox 29's drew dickman is live at the bensalem police department tonight with how police tracked down the two. drew? >> reporter: iain, police say they received an non muss tip that officers followed into philadelphia. it turns out that tip was pretty credible and now this couple is facing serious charges tonight. >> where did you take the car? >> melissa and steven pagano --

you don't know why you're being arrested. >> nothing you think. >> reporter: had mixed reactions to our questions as they made the walk from the bensalem police department into court to face a judge. >> i don't even know what you're talking about. >> reporter: rachel is charged with accidents resulting in death and operating a vehicle without a valid license and her boyfriend pagano faces one count of tampering with evidence. >> at this point it appears they hid the vehicle from our site that night. they then took it to location in philadelphia where they did some other things i really can't get into right now. >> reporter: rachel was behind the wheel of 2003gmc pickup truck when she struck 61 year old vincent per receive philadelphia. perry was walking along the southbound lanes of the 4100 block of bristol pike when he was hit. he was found lying on the shoulder of the busy street around 6:45 yesterday evening. up to seven minutes after he was struck. perry later died at the hospit hospital. >> as far as no one seeing it, i'm shocked by that. it is a heavily congested area. no one reported seeing it. people did locate him very quickly and they did render aid as much as they could. so we're thankful to those

citizens that did stop. >> reporter: investigators swarmed the couple's home on the 700 block of bridge water road this afternoon. looking for more evidence in the deadly crash. sergeant bill mcveigh says things could be different if the couple stayed at the scene of the accident. >> we like to see people that night get their side of it. to see if alcohol play as part in it. mainly talking to them at the time when they're truthful. they don't have time to hide anything, conceal anything. >> reporter: police say that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash. rachel's bond was set at 750 those thousand dollars tonight her boyfriend pagano's bond was set at 75,000. both have previous run ins with the law, and both will be back in court in two weeks. dawn? >> thank you, drew. police are looking for two men who they say tricked a woman into opening her door and gotta with with half million dollars in jewelry. this is a sketch of the primary suspect wanted in that haverford township robbery. it happened last week on the 600 block of fox fields road. the victim says she partially

opened her door foreman saying he represented a natural food company. the suspect walked the victim to her second floor bedroom and made a phone call and then another suspect showed up and began ransacking the home. the thieves took off with $500,000 worth of jewelry. >> and happening now, summer starting in less than 12 hours. chief meteorologist scott williams is here and, scott l it feel like summer? tomorrow it will actually be a few degrees below average. so summer beginning a little cooler than we typically see this time of year. no complaints this friday evening. beautiful weather. look at the temperatures 78 degrees and that humidity comfortable at 32%. those winds out of the west northwest at 9 miles per hour. but as we look at the satellite and radar, you can see increas increasing clouds and this is the disturbance we're watching that could bring a spotty shower our way for the first part of the weekend. we'll roll the clock, clouds on the increase but it stays dry and then tomorrow morning 7:00

avenue and the vine street expressway. drivers are dealing with traffic pattern shifts and lane closures. it's all part of that nearly $40 million project to rebuild parts of the highway just south of girard. >> a worker becomes trapped and dies in a parkly demolished building in south jersey. the three man crew was working along route 38 in cherry hill to bring down an old store this afternoon. authorities say one wall was left and it collapsed crushing the man. rescue crews spent hours trying to dig the victim out. they say he fell in head first and was covered with heavy metal authorities say he passed before they arrived. >> looked like he was on the outside when it hit him and kind of knocked him into the hole type of thing. we just had to do recovery here. it's difficult. had it happened when this building was just starting you may have had many more workers here. you know, you don't know. >> authorities are looking into the contractor mancuso of berlin, new jersey.

another crew member was taken to the hospital. he is okay. >> two people are dead including a four year old little boy after a violent accident on the atlantic city expressway. medic rushed several other people to area hospitals. that crash shut down the expressway for more than five hours. fox 29's dave schratwieser tells us what witnesses say they saw right before that deadly crash. >> reporter: skyfox was over minute after this white pickup truck crashed into westbound lanes of the atlantic city expressway and flipped over sending six people inside flying on to the roadway. one man was killed. five others were injured. >> did get a call that came in describing that vehicle that did turn over. that it was driving erratic manner. >> reporter: plea helicopters landed on the highway to evacuate the injured. state police say 35 year old passenger james dennis father of three from philadelphia was pronounced dead at the scene. the others were taken by ambulance to an atlantic city

hospital or airlifted to cooper hospital in camden with serious injuries. >> this vehicle occupied six passengers. three of which were in the bed of the pickup truck. >> reporter: the crash shut down the expressway's westbound lanes for over five hours while rescue crews tended to the injured and the new jersey state police fatal accident team investigated. >> being that all six passengers were ejected from the vehicle, it's safe to say that they were not wearing their safety -- their safety belts. >> reporter: state police say the driver 45 year old rosslyn corn gay of philadelphia was medivacked to cooper along with a juvenile who was in the rear bed of the truck. 19 year old brian gregory and 18 year old, shaniqua abrams was taken to the hospital. a little boy died at cooper hospital. >> whether that vehicle was driving fast or swerving all over the road is unknown. dave schratwieser fox 29

news. >> a car smashes into a house in camden county. skyfox over the scene around 5:00 o'clock tonight. this happened on the 600 block of fifth avenue in lindenwold. no word on exactly what happened here. the good news, though, no injuries reported. >> after five years on the land police final have serial bank robber behind bars tonight. 43 year old joseph, wanted in connection with seven bank robberies. police say he started his spree five years ago in greenville, delaware, and it ended in 2011. a joint investigation between police there and in pennsylvania led to his arrest after detectives say they received a tip. the crisis in iraq continues to deteriorate hi by the day. u.s. is preparing to send 300 special operations forces to iraq but not before some legal paper work is signed. the pentagon says a written agreement is needed with the iraqi government. that's to make sure the special forces will have a appropriate legal protections. iraq would not sign it before that led to the complete

creek has been shut down. and john ski roll lee a local business owner is worried that it's already impacting business. >> i'm actually very angry over this, because it's really affecting business. i mean it's friday here quarter of 1:00 and usually we used to have every seat filled in here and now with the traffic being rerouted it's, you know, it's just non existent. >> reporter: 60 year old bridge connects gravel pike road and perkiomen creek road. it was shut down last night after officials say it failed an inspection. >> you're looking at a large fall area with the rebar showing and you can see severe rusting of the rebars. >> reporter: lee from penndot also shares photos of the weathering. >> probably end up replacing the whole bridge. right now there's no timetable. i can't give you a definite time on when the bridge will be replaced. >> reporter: one alternate for drivers is the arcola road bridge but it's also shut down for repairs leaving drivers to weigh their options. >> nobody is pleased. i mean, it's -- there's not lot we can do about it. >> as you probably seen, how

many cars are trying to get up here, there's million workers up here at graterford, and how are they going to get back and forth? so the other two roads down each way traffic is going to be a nightmare. >> reporter: thalia perez, fox 29 news. nearly two weeks after crash that seriously injured tracy morgan the comedian is head to do a rehab facility. morgan suffered a broken leg and broken ribs in a crash on the new jersey turnpike. another man was killed in the accident. spokesperson for morgan says the actor is improving but still has long road to a full recovery. >> pennsylvania's attorney general said she plans to release a report into how police and prosecutors handled the jerry sandusky case. kathleen cain vowed to look into the child molestation case running for office back in 2012. she suggested then general and governor tom corbett had political motivation to slow the investigation while he ran for governor. corbett has denied those claims. sandusky of course was convicted of 45 counts of child sex abuse.

kaness report is expected mond monday. >> a methodist minister defrock after officiating at his son's same sex wedding is appealing the church's decision. he says his defrocking was illegal because it was based on an assumption that he will break church law in the future. schaeffer is one of hundreds of methodist ministers who spoke out about the church's stand on homosexuality. the church allows gay members but prohibits them from serving as clergy and prohibits ministers from perfor performinx same sex marriages. >> a bucks county contractor is in more hot water tonight. >> only on fox 29, bruce gordon has been following the allegations against 58 year old john succi for more than a year and a half and he's here with the latest chapter. >> reporter: mr. succi, any comment about these allegations the man says you took his money and never finish the work? nothing to say?

>> reporter: john succi was tight lipped after making bail and pleading not guilty to these latest charges. prosecutors say the yardley based contractor accepted more than $34,000 for a roof replace many on this tullytown commercial building late last fall. but they say succi did only part of the job and left the roof exposed. when snow and ice hit that open building, $200,000 worth of personal and tenant's property inside was destroyed. second contractor had to be called in to complete the job. prosecutors say succi never applied for nor received permits to do the work. his lawyer blames old man wint winter. >> mr. succi did take money, had signed contract and he was to do work. he did work and then i think the inclement weather came in and really caused a major fiasco at the project. >> reporter: back in february, succi was charged with cheating eight other customers out of more than $1.6 million for jobs in which prosecutors claim he took money and failed to do the work. we told you the story of cindy

ross of levittown. she says she paid succi 86,000 bucks. claims he worked without permits, gutted her home then abandoned the project. >> my house is destroyed. my house is destroyed. >> reporter: court documents from that february case describe succi's bank records showing quote large and frequent purchases at atlantic city casinos and jewelry stores and atm withdrawals at gentlemen's clubs. >> the paper work suggests you were living high on the hog while all these people were not getting their work done. >> if he's had couple bad cases then that's something that has to be resolved. but it doesn't appear to be a pattern. if he's done this for 32 years and people have been satisfied with his work for 32 years, i don't think you want to guy a guy under the bus for 10 bad cases. >> this new case came about when the alleged victim saw our coverage of the february arrest and charges and notified authorities. if there are still other cases out there, other alleged victi victims, prosecutors want to know about them. in the newsroom, i'm bruce gordon, fox 29 news. >> let's check in with your fox

29 weather authority now. beautiful day for all these music fans in dover, delaware, enjoying the fire fly festival which continues through the weekend. so what can they and the rest of us expect. here's chief meteorologist scott williams. a lot of folks down in dover, delaware, this weekend. some changes for tomorrow. we are looking at more in the way of cloud cover as well as the threat for a few spotty light showers moving through. keep that in mind. otherwise temperatures tomorrow 80 degrees on sunday. sunshine, low 80s. beautiful weather for the festival. in the meantime we continue to countdown to summer hours away now. the summer solstice begins tomorrow at 6:51. it will be the longest day of the year and the shortest night. the weather we're looking at cloud cover on the increase as we move into the overnight time frame. as we look at the satellite and radar you can see some high clouds, sirius clouds moving overhead across our area in advance of this disturbance. most of the energy moving into sections of virginia, but don't be surprised to see a spotty

fire destroying the roof. plumes of black smoke there. portions of the building did collapse but there are no reports of any injuries. we also don't know what sparked the fire. >> a bus makes an unexpected stop. check this out. this ohio metro bus got trapped by a six by 8-foot sipping hole thursday night. repair crews were called out right before the accident happened to fix the buckled pavement but it was too late. the bus driver drove right into it. he was the only person on board. he says he's okay. just shaken up. the bus was lifted and towed away. well not exactly where you'd expect to see a police chase. >> investigation is now underway after officers chased down a suspect through a crowd the golf course. this happened in minnesota tuesday. police say they tracked down suspect. look at this who led them on high speed chase throughout a golf course. golfers as you can see force to do run and take cover as cop cars were sipping by incredibly no one was injured.

fox news. >> he is one lucky guy. now the other driver was cited for making an illegal left turn, and having a suspended license. in arkansas man is in a lot of trouble. he's accused of harassing a couple because he thought their car was a spaceship and that the driver was an alien. police arrested 44 year old james bush heart after they found meth in his car before the arrest cops say he was bothering a couple over their car. police say he was making threatening gestures and demanding the alien take his spaceship back to where it came from. >> that was my biggest problem with what was going on was just how upset he was, i guess, in reference to the vehicle. that was the only thing i can think of. i was a little upset about that mostly because his a passenger with me. i was concerned for her safety as well. >> according to police, bush heart claimed he was curious about the car because quote it looked like a futuristic machi machine. the special olympic games coming to a close but these

♪ >> it is a mug shot gone viral. we first brought you this story last night. 30 year old jeremy meeks was arrested wednesday on multiple felony charges. tonight we're learning more about him. his mother tells tmz meeks is being stereo typed because all his tattoos including one of a tear drop which often means a person has killed someone. in an interview from jail, meeks told a news station his wife told him that he quote blew up all over facebook. meeks also told the reporter he's no longer a gangster but police say meeks is a member of

it feels like a door is opening. >> i'm finally getting out of this bed but finally starting my life. >> i know she has purpose or she wouldn't be given this chance. and i'm not going lie, every night i cry. >> reporter: today more tears. >> as kayla's family and boyfriend head to begin they are wait she is headed to the operating room. cardiothoracic surgeon dr. jeffrey miller who knows kayla and has operated on her heart once before will be her surgeon again and he is bracing for a long night. >> so she's had three open heart surgeries so this will be her fourth. so getting in, getting back into this chest will be a challenge. but we've done it before and i think it will go just fine. >> reporter: it's dark by the time the donor heart finally arrives. given anonymously by another family in another hospital letting go of hope. >> my biggest thing is for the donor right now actually. i have no words. i don't even think thank is you

enough. >> reporter: report in the or kayla is placed on a heart lung bypass allowing the team to remove her stiffened heart and carefully taj the new one. there's a risk of bleeding or her new heart may mott work. but she pulls through and this is just the beginning. >> kayla keeps me going. she's my hero. she's my strongest -- she's my strongest. >> reporter: after few hours of rest, round two. the kidney transplant. kayla's new kidney is also from her heart donor. her kidneys were damaged by years of taking anti rejection drugs so she needs this to start feeling better. >> you're doing great. >> three days later in emery's cardiac icu better still feels pretty far off. kayla is in pain and has a sore throat from being intubated. >> but she does thank everyone out there and her voice is kind of small right now. >> reporter: when she's stronger kayla mon feel hopes to one day say her own thank you to the family whose gift gave her this chance.
