Forum: sflan Subject: Daly and Mirkarimi seperate Public Hearings on Techconnect WiFi - What online live!

Please Distribute Broadly
-------------

Sups. Daly and Mirkarmimi are each having their own hearing on issues about Techconnect Wireless Internet access for all, during the week of Dec 12th.

There are a lot of upset people and organizations because they feel that the Techconnect process is basically a backroom deal and that in the end, it will not result in truly ubiquitous Wireless Internet for all citizens.

Chris Vein of DTIS has been called to each of the hearings to answer for his department's apparent lack of openness (many Sunshine Public Records request unfulfilled, 100 page Google offer - only 6 pages available to the Public - even though RFI/C period ended 11/8/05)

In an interesting Open Government Twist, people from around the world and locally - (following the widely reported Google Free WiFi offer) will be watching these hearings online with video streaming, and a live chatroom for which, even people in the hearing will be particpating in)
