we found a great many of our items had damage to the _files.xml where we began considering "derivative" files (typically mp3/ogg/png) to be classified as "original" files (typically shn, wav, flac for etree).

as such, we identified approximately 1/3 of etree items could have this kind of issue, and wrote some code to remove what were almostly certainly our derivatives and replace them with new derivatives.

we dont make .zip files or .m3u file derivatives directly into our items anymore -- but we can "zip on the fly" any format or sets of formats desired for an item (or even the entire item altogether).

some examples of zip-on-the-fly:

https://archive.org/compress/sci2004-06-19.flac16/formats=FLAC&file=/sci2004-06-19.flac16.zip

https://archive.org/compress/sci2004-06-19.flac16/formats=VBR%20MP3&file=/sci2004-06-19.flac16.zip

https://archive.org/compress/sci2004-06-19.flac16/formats=FLAC,ARCHIVE%20BITTORRENT,FILES%20METADATA,METADATA,CHECKSUMS,TEXT

these zip-on-the-fly links are prominently featured in our new website (right side "DOWNLOAD OPTIONS" area)
but also there are some such links in some of our older website pages, too.

hope that's helpful!
