joining me now are goldie taylor and nia-malika henderson. they say the democrats have a culture of hatred. is he just firing up the republican base? >> i think that's right. you saw mitt romney. when he ran, this was part of his sort of argument as well on a talking point he had being that president obama was one of the most divisive presidents even. marco rubio said the same thing. nobody ever believed that. when you look at that growth and opportunity project, the autopsy of the republican party that reince priebus released after the campaign, it showed that people who were polled thought it was republicans who were too divisive. so you had this rebranding which in some ways has happened i think for a segment of the party. for another segment of the party, they very much rejected that. it might be the cruz wing. for folks like dean young, he's very much a different sort of strain of the republican party. i think the question now is where is that ceiling for the strain of the republican party. where -- it's sort of the tea party in some way
