mr. chairman. i appreciate you being here. we have another former chairman here as well, and then in probably 5 minutes the soon to be chairman. so i get to be a chairman, too. so this is probably some historic number of chairmen here. thank you again for your service to this committee, and i know you'll do great work over on energy as you do everywhere. thanks for enumerating some of the successes of last year. i'd like to give an opening statement and turn to my ranking member for ten minutes. some of the successes i'd like to talk about we were able to achieve in this committee over the last several years is when president trump signed the act that supports capture and utilization and sequestration. the diesel emissions reduction act which is something we've been working on for years was passed. another water bill went through at the end of the year, which is always a good two-year kpurtz for all of us. and the american innovation manufacturing or aim act. so that spirit of bipartisanship we had last year i hope is one i in
