i'm carl quintanilla with david faber and mike santoli at post nine of the new york stock exchange sara eisen has the morning off after a very busy week of travel and more markets looking pretty good. it's been a solid few days for the dow and the s&p. just a handful of points from an all-time closing high and closing in once again on a double digit gain for the year. >> we are 30 minutes into the trading session. here are three movers we're watching cloud stock akamai slumping, guidance disappointed an the company warned of slowing traffic growth, shares down 8% and shares of novavax surging this morning on a more than a billion dollar licensing deal involving covid vaccines we'll have much more on that ahead. the stock up 130%. very crowded short and sweetgreen another gainer, shares up nearly 200% year to date as the salad chain boosts its 2024 outlook, saying it expect same stores sales growth 6% above its previous range. up 42% how about that. >> that is wow look at that >> not a wow. >> not a tiny company. >> consumer sentiment out moments ago. let's get to rick santelli for those

for more on the markets now we bring in our own mike santoli. hey, mike. made it back. safe travels. mike here all weekend, too. >> i was. yes. felt like we accomplished what we needed to do out there, becky. i am back here at the new york stock exchange. where the markets are set up for the week. s&p 500. relief last week. yields coming down. earnings worked through pretty well. some of that moderate economic data. what we've been doing for a while in a pullback going back to areas of february and march when everybody embraced a soft landing, thought rate cuts, a strong economy. piling up. challenges. yields higher. maybe the fed's waiting longer. obviously priced in some of those good earnings. so far doing okay. right at the 50-day moving average for s&p. see if we jump over that we early pre-market look to the upside. banks have been a very strong area of this market. i think suddenly outperformed recently. one-year basis. now ahead of tech. one year ago just coming out of the silicon valley bank disaster. clearly a depressed moment to start counting how they've don

mike santoli joins us now. mike, i tried to read your column over the weekend, and i couldn't remember my cnbc probe password to try to get in but i think you were talking about something about how this is going to be the moment that tells us whether we're going to continue to push forward or whether we give it all back? >> that was the general idea. by the way, provide your email to read my promo on cnbc probe. i was talking index hitting highs historic not worry some thing. persists. market trends. exceptions, 2007 was scary. otherwise, looks like we're back on this sort of track. just want to look at the angle of ascent before you had resets. from july to october of last year. 5% pullback. famed to come back. then correction. this time so far just been a little 5% dip. had it in april. yields went up and questioned exactly how strong the economy was in the face of those yields and we're back to it. not toot much upside for the market to the look overbought and people get overexcited again. at least basic tre

down to mike santoli this morning. new york stock exchange. what are you looking at, mike? >> rising bond yields's in recent days taking its toll on various parts of the market. kind of narrowing out the leadership and bringing the s&p 500 actually back down at the open today. likely into its first quarter range. here's the s&p along with its 50-day moving average. it will open probably below 5250. last week's low. also the late march high before that little 5% pullback. essentially getting you back into that range. we've sort of fought it out with semis strong and other jeers strong including sdpreels weak. software in general a negative on the market. look here at the s&p relative to the dow jones industrial dow jones. now, this relationship waxes and wanes over the years. a wide spread of out performance of s&p recently relative to the dow. market area data area yesterday ran numbers. correlation between the two indexes 20-plus-year low. why? nvidia is huge part of it. more than 6% of the s&p. second largest weighting in the s&p ahead of apple for technical reasons actua
