ktvu's -- searching all day long. ktvu's claudine wong has more. >> reporter: this is still an active search. this search will continue into the night and we have new information for you. the coast guard confirms they believe there was one person on board this 30-foot sailing vessel and that person was trying trying to go to hawaii. they were preparing for a long trip. the search area is north and central bay. you are looking from news chopper 2. i want to play where this is happening. all near the golden gate bridge. on both sides of the bridge. west side is where the distress signal came in. on the east side, that is where the vessel was discovered on the rocks. it has since sunk but divers went in the water and confirmed that the the 30-foot sailing vessel is under the water. they confirmed the identity of the boat. we have seen boats this afternoon making its way back and forth across the shoreline. we are 13 hours from the initial distress call. talking to the coast guard, they tell us even though it will get dar
