i'm janelle wang. we start this evening in the south bay with a fleet of public transit cars that remained parked in the same spot for years until we reported it. within a few weeks, this happened... the cars are now being prepped for auction. nbc bay area investigative reporter candice nguyen first broke this story, and tonight shows us the transit agency's quick response. candice nguyen: i sat down with the chair of vta's board who's also a county supervisor. she tells me the board had no idea of these taxpayer-funded vehicles wasting away until they saw our investigation. she says changes are being made so this doesn't happen again. candice: after more than four years, santa clara valley transportation authority, or vta, is taking action on 95 retired paratransit priuses and vans that it left to depreciate in san jose parking lots since before the pandemic instead of selling them years ago while they were years younger. this month, our cameras were there as vta finally started moving the vehicles. v

i'm janelle wang. the a's are expected to meet about a possible move to sacramento. bob redell has more. >> reporter: we are trying to confirm. they are reporting that the a's are meeting today in sacramento to discuss the possibility of the team playing at sutter health park. it's the aaa home of the rivercats. the move there would cost the team $67 million in annual broadcast revenue. also, sutter health is a smaller stadium where the a's play. as you can see, the a's can't even fill that right now. attendance at the coliseum has been horrible as fans stay away from the a's because they are upset over the impending move to las vegas. the a's lease at the coliseum expires at the end of the baseball season. the team is looking for a temporary home until 2028 when construction of the new $1.5 billion stadium is supposed to be completed on the las vegas strip. yesterday, the a's met with oakland to negotiate a new lease extension there at the coliseum. it doesn't appear those talks were productive. the a's said they were far apart on terms needed to agree on an extensi

i'm janelle wang. scott peterson gets another day in court as he seeks to overturn his conviction. ginger conejero saab was in the courtroom. >> reporter: today's hearing wrapped up in less than 30 minutes. it was pretty straightforward. the defense attorney, who has been following this case, said you can't really make interesting out of boring. today was a lot of legal talk. scott petepeterson made an appearance in court virtually. he didn't say much. you are looking at file video of his last court appearance. that happened as well then. he only confirmed today that he could see and hear the proceedings from the prison where he is serving a life sentence without parole. the judge was expected to rule on a motion set forth by his lawyers. the defense withdrew their motion. both parties, prosecutors and defense attorneys, agreed to keep a particular letter with names of potential witnesses redacted as it already is. the attorney who is not related to this case broke down what happened. >> after a lot of lawyer talk, the defense basically withdrew their motion, because really most of
