this bill is a good bill. it will not solve our gun problem. it won't ban bump stocks or require americans be 21 to guy a gun or get weapons of war, the weapons of choice for mass shooters off our streets. but it will help troubled students that need help get help and help identify potential threats before it's too late. before we vote, i would like to make a few things clear. first, this isn't a response to the tragedy at parkland. congressman ruther forward and i introduced this bill the week before the shooting. the programs in this bill are based on evidence-based evaluation proven to reduce isolation and identify kids who need help. we had no idea that we wouldn't be able to move fast enough to stop this tragedy or an urgent need to give schools access to these programs. since congress has failed the american people by ignoring the scurge of gun violence like we have failed the families of sandy hook and columbine, we owe it to students and teachers to give them tools to identify dangerous behavior. the failure of congress to take action h

in this bill. regarding your second question, on the border security keep in mind this bill is for the next six months of this fiscal year. $1.6 billion in wall funding is what we can expend over the next six months to actually do what we've been asked to do. and as director said, it actually ends up providing more miles and new construction than what we had originally asked for. and go over the details because i don't think this has been accurately reported. i think "the washington times" has an article out this morning, suggesting we change policy regarding asylum and a couple other things. those are inaccurate. the a.p. is reporting that we can't build any of the prototype wall that's inaccurate. heeshes the line by line breakdown on the $1.6 billion. ok. we asked for 28 miles of levy wall in the lio grande valley and got 25 in this package. 32 miles of pedestrian wall in the rio grande valley and got eight. 14 miles in san diego and got all 14 miles. that includes building the new type of wall
