Subject: Interesting artifact....
Yes, I have to agree with Spuzz, these recordings do lend to showing a broader view of JFK, as well as other historical tidbits to be had here as well.
There are quite a few quiet passages in these recordings as well, with just the clicks, pops, and scratches from the dictabelt being played (a dictabelt being basically a phonographic record, but only in the form of a approx. 4" wide loop of plastic with grooves embossed on it by the dictabelt recorder). Said passages could be sampled in music or whatnot to simulate record scratches quite effectively ;).
Also, the link to the Dictabelt finding aid in the description is dead, here is a more current link:

Subject: Booya!!!
This is probably one of the best things that is on the Archive. I LOVE this tape! Here, various conversations are held, mostly around the Mississippi University crisis and one Governor by the name of Ross Barnett. Mr Barnett seemed to be wanting the president to do most of the work, while he stands back and shrugs his shoulders. (Mr. Barnett was the one who blocked the black student from enrolling in the first place D'oh!) and the President seems to be getting frustrated at the rather loose attitude of the governor.
There are other conversations on this tape (listen to how JFK pushes his friends around) and yes, a lot of static, but this is GREAT to listen to!!!!
