Reviewer:jonesmadu - - August 12, 2007 Subject: Laurel and Hardy Every Thanksgiving I look foward to watching March of the Wooden Soldiers. I am forty-nine years old and have been watching it for forty years and I'm glad to say my son and nephews will pass the tradition in our family. A must for all children.
Reviewer:Spuzz - - February 10, 2006 Subject: Don't just send the kiddies! Good Laurel and Hardy trailer for Babes in Toyland. Though the musical looks awfully stagebound, and you can totally tell that this was a musical that was developed around the Laurel and Hardy routines (eg, it looks like theyre not a part of any of the musical scenes at all). Has all the usual buffoonery (with Hardy saying OOMPH! as much as he can) and a an actor named Felix Knight who looks a LOT like Paul Mccartney. This is actually quite entertaining.
Reviewer:musicradio77 - - February 1, 2006 Subject: Is The Trailer Appeared on WPIX-TV? No! I've seen the trailer before and it was a rare find. I remember watching Laurel & Hardy in the original 1934 classic "Babes In Toyland". It was changed to "March Of The Wooden Soldiers". That film ran on WPIX-TV (channel 11) for years during the holiday season in along with the "Yule Log". It was colorized but it was originally in black & white. The film ends with a Laurel & Hardy short about the guys are on the ship that they saw a ghost. I forgot the name of it and it was also colorized too. It was also in black & white originally. I have the VHS tape of the entire movie but it doesn't have a trailer like the ones I've seen it now on the internet. Thanks to the DVD release. "March Of the Wooden Soldiers" will continue to run on WPIX-TV in New York City throughout the holiday season. By the way as I'm leaving this, there was a Disney version of the same name from 1961 featuring Annette Funicello and Tommy Sands. The 1961 version was okay, and so does the original 1934 classic.

This is quite fun to watch, as the graphic design is wonderful and some of the most visually striking moments are chosen to show, particularly the stop-motion animated wooden soldiers. A great relic from the 30s. Ratings: Camp/Humor Value: ***. Weirdness: ***. Historical Interest: *****. Overall Rating: ****.
