I have been watching movies for over 70 years and this is the absolute number one in the history of Hollywood. I have never seen anything to match the African Queen for romance, action, photography, and above all for acting. Bogart and Hepburn are the finest actors to appear on a screen. It is too bad that we only have the trailer.

Lovely trailer for African Queen here, the color is certainly not faded at all. It¡¯s so hard to judge a trailer after you¡¯ve seen the movie isn¡¯t it? Well, lets just say it has it all, the stars (Bogart! Hepburn!) the scenery (It¡¯s in Darkest Africa!) and the action (It¡¯s on the treacherous rivers!) So I can¡¯t complain. Love the added on blurb about Bogie¡¯s oscar win. Love those.

Sorry, I just gave away the best line in this trailer for the classic John Huston film. ItÂs a good record of the film, beautifully preserved. And it ends with a fun bit of theater ephemera announcing Humphrey BogartÂs Oscar.
Ratings: Camp/Humor Value: **. Weirdness: **. Historical Interest: ****. Overall Rating: ***.

Subject: One of the all time great adventure films
This is one of the best trailers I've seen for a '50s film, but then of course it promotes one of the greatest of all pictures from that decade. It's been some years since I've seen this movie and now I feel that I must go right out and buy the DVD.

Unfortunately, the process shots used in the rapids sequences are all too obvious to viewers today, and this trailer opens with such a shot. This wasn't a problem 50+ years ago when this picture was in its original theatrical run, but it is the only thing that makes the movie seem dated when watching it today. The technicolor cinematography is breathtaking; what a shame that we have nothing today which can equal it.
