Subject: Great example of a false teacher twisting Scripture.
This false teacher said Jesus is one way and the other way is by being a good person. The reason why Jesus is the only way is because there are no good people. People aren't punished for not hearing of Jesus, they are punished for lying, stealing, lusting (adultery of the heart), hating (murder in God's eyes), not honoring the God who gave them clues in nature to his existance, power and judgment. Jesus Christ came and died specifically because there wasn't and isn't and never will be any "other way" to be saved from the wrath that we all deserve for sinning (knowingly) against our creator. Notice how this false teacher skipped over the part about their conscience also accusing them. And if you read the context of Romans you see that it is building up to the point that "there is no difference (between Gentile and Jew) all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" That is the problem because God is holy must pour out his wrath for justice to be satisfied. God would be just to send us all to hell even if Jesus had never come. But the facts of his coming, his life, his death his resurrection, his sending out disciples to tell the world - this all shows how great his love is! God is loving and merciful but he is also justly wrathful. STOP PICKING AND CHOOSING BIBLE VERSES! Read the rest of Romans, read Hebrews, read Galatians. If there was another way, then Jesus wouldn't have chosen to die. He took my sins and bore the wrath that all of us deserve so he could offer us his righteousness by which God could except us. I thank God that I have heard about jesus because if I didn't I would have gone to hell (for my sins). Now you have heard about Jesus, so how much more great a punishment to you deserve who not only sinned but also rejected Jesus and neglected so great a salvation? Two things you must do to be saved and (then I am done warning everyone): REPENT (return to God's way) and BELIEVE (trust in, cling to, rely upon Jesus) as the way, truth and life, the resurrection and our hope of glory.

Subject: Is this working?
It's all relative to what you have been brought up to believe. It's spiritual conditioning, and in all truth I believe it's cultism and brainwashing that has people believe that Jesus is the ONLY way to get to heaven.

Religion has very good qualities, but when your religion defys other religions as being false - and using the bible as proof to the falsehood of other denominations, then there's something seriously wrong with the values of christianity.

I was born and raised in an evangelical christian house, and I truly regret being taught to point fingers at other people because they don't abide by what my pastor had taught to be true. Embarassing, really, to have been associated with church(es) that are hypocritical and extremely judgemental of others - based on personal conviction moreso than 'how Jesus would live'.

The woman that was talking to Opera is misguided and, in my opinion, not making the world a better place by having such a closed minded view of what spirituality in humanity is supposed to be.

THEN AGAIN, this is just my personal speculation..and that's exactly what motivates pastors / preachers / priests / whathaveyou to enlighten people to believe what THEY want the congregation to believe.

Subject: Soriano makes a point here for other Christians
The criticism of the guy because of the broken accent and the presentation of less high tech video of Filipino minister, comes from assumption that the People of the North America are ones entitled to right Theology or to Theologize. Oprah is no stupid thinker. Neither, Soriano. I don't really buy everything Soriano has to say. People always quote John 14:6 which states that Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life no one can come to the Father except, through him. And also in the book of Acts we also hear that there is no other name given on earth except the Messiah. "The Christ" is a Greek word of Messiah in Hebrew language.
Does this mean people who never heard of Jesus will perish? Some extreme Christians say that these texts do speak of that. However, we must read the context and background of why the writers of the New Testament wrote those words. Some of the words spoken by characters in the Bible like Jesus and Paul etc. were actually chosen words by the writer of the story. John 14:6 reflects the theology of John. Acts also reflects the theology of Luke, the companion of Paul. John as you know makes a distinction between the Jews and followers of Jesus (all his followers were Jews of course). John uses the word "world" as the unbelieving humanity. When John said that Jesus is the Way to the Father. He is thinking of the priesthood of Jesus Christ, like Aaronic priesthood of the Jewish people. We need a priest to contact God in a covenant way. We need a prophet, for Truth, we need a Lord, King for Living a life in God's Reign. John is saying we need a Messiah. Jesus claims to be One. If you do not accept that in Jewish context you will be cut off from the Covenant or God's people (Read Moses as prophet that needs to be obeyed). In other words, Jesus is a prophet, priest, and king in one Office of the Messiah. If you do not listen to him, as listeners you are cut off.

Belief in the Messiah is the key to access to God. Both Judaism and Islam believes in Messiah.
In other words, they have access to God through a messiah. Christians differ in that Jesus is their Messiah. Someone born in Israel or Mecca who is not a Christian still believes and longs for Messiah. That person believes in the way to God through God sending a Messenger.

We become Christians...of Jesus' followers of the WAY. Christianity was known in Acts as the WAY. Actually Christians is a derogatory word by people who misunderstood Jesus' followers in Antioch. No where NT calls believers Christians. The followers of Caesar are called Caesareanos. Christianos are branding by the unbelieving neigbours.

John 14:6 is for believers not for unbelievers who are outside the community of God. The context is for the People of God that needs to listen to words of Jesus. Like Thomas who doubts and Philips who questions. Peter who also is proud needs the Messianic instruction.

Only God determines people's destiny. Only God can judge and He will judge righteously. Before Missionaries and preachers go to the remote lands, God had been there a long time. The Spirit of God has been in entire face of the earth. God is everywhere. God is in every place.
The Church is much smaller than the Kingdom of God. The Kingdom of God is unpredictable. And it is not synonymous to Church. There is an aspect of the universality of the Church, but God will be in all and all. Even, Christ's church is going to be surrendered to the Sovereignty of God at the end of all things.

For now, Christians should not be proud to the Jews first and to the Gentiles.
Don't say that because the Jews rejected Jesus they will go to hell unless they convert.
By their desire and longing they believe in the Messiah they have not seen.

Our gospel preaching is not about converting every human being on the face of the earth.
It is to proclaim, announce, (euanggelion) the Goodnews of God in the person of Jesus.
To convert is not our task. That was the mistake of the Colonial times. We do not need to depend God or fight a war for him.

Lastly, live out your faith....bear witness in love and compassion. Jesus did that. He showed us in good Samaritan, that religion is to visit the sick and look after the orphans.

For Jesus, the place of religion is more than just Jerusalem and Mecca, more than Vatican, and Canterbury....God is a spirit...they that worship God must worship God in spirit and in truth.

The Judgement of God must begin at the household of God. The question of salvation is not about the world. But about the people who called by God. Most reference to salvation in OT is a language for Israel. Israel is the apple of God's eye. Salvation is directed to Israel.

Salvation language in NT is directed to the Church, new people of God.
The salvation of the world is not our concern it is God's concern.

Subject: Phantasmagorical
A truly astonishing production. The hermeneutical discrepancies aside, to bear witness to Saint Oprah being shouted down by moronic membots was quite a treat. I actually felt an infinitesimal moment of compassion for Ms. O.

But then the death metal lecture in broken english which followed, well, that was a whole other exercise in distortion, tragically clipped peaks and the rusty video sheen of a thousand year old infomercial.

Too many pathetic fallacies to count here, as well as numerous other laughable flaws in logic.

If this was parody, then I raise my one star to two. However methinks these kooks are in earnest, with no sense of irony or paradox at all.

I look backward to seeing/hearing more of this lunacy. But please, better production values, eh? I need the audio to be nice and crisp so I can cut it up and reassemble the speech into something intelligible, and/or at the very least, amusing.
