that volume is building on the outer loop as you head west to college park to get to silver spring and on to bethesda. the volume building 270 on the wet pavement to get out of frederick county to hyattstown and points south to rockville. 66, fender bender eastbound near the vienna metro is over on the left shoulder. part of the focal point of delays we've seen coming in from fair oaks, not to mention it's still quite slow getting to manassas and centreville. virginia 95 delays out of stafford headed for quantico and northbound trying to leave triangle into dumfries. they were checking for a crash on the shoulder in dumfries and another one near the prince william parkway. so far nothing blocking your path there. that's a look the a our drive. how about the wet weather? >> wet is the operative word of the day. yellow alert today because we're dealing with rain on and off most of the day. at times going to be in the moderate to heavy side. other times just lulls. a nasty raw day with the wind picking up, too. it will be out of the north, northwest 10 to 20. we could have gusts tonight, tomorrow in the 30 mile an hour range. look at temperatures 55 to maybe 60 degrees.

we're 50 to 55 now. it's not going to move much. low pressure spinning oaf the bay and delmarva bringing in moisture off the atlantic. some of this has been moderate to heavy. when you see this red showing up, that is some heavy rain we're looking at in the baltimore region. you notice it's trying to rotate back toward d.c. we've had waves of rain at times coming through us. you see the heavier showers south, northeast. so keep the rain gear handy and if you can telework, i suggest doing that andrea and mike? >> thank you, howard. here's what's in the news right now. three teenage girls from suburban denver may have been trying to join isis militants in syria. they stole money from their parents and flew to germany. >> that is where they were stopped by the f.b.i. when they landed. the two sisters and a friend have now been returned to colorado. this announcement comes one month after 19-year-old shannon connolly of arvada, colorado pled guilty to charges that she conspired to help militants in syria. north korea's release of an american hostage is fueling new hope two others will also be

was admitted to the biocontainment facility more than two weeks ago after becoming sick in liberia. one of the two nurses who contracted the virus while treating the first patient diagnosed with ebola in the united states also just got some good news. doctors treating nina pham right here at the national institutes of health have now upgraded her condition from fair to good. ben bradlee, the former editor of "the washington post" died yesterday. he was 93. >> bradlee served as the executive editor of the paper for 23 years and managed the paper's coverage of the watergate scandal and president nixon's downfall. delia goncalves is live outside "the washington post" with a look back at the legend's career. >> reporter: what a life and career ben bradlee had here in washington and at "the washington post." certainly a sad day for a lot of the folks who worked with him and were inspired by you can see here behind me, there's a message of memorium already on the ticker outside

head into the next hour, hour and a half. yes, rush hour will get worse. we're in sort of a lull. we had heavier showers roll through. light showers crossing the river here in toward arlington, southwest, southeast. but as you go in toward prince george's county there, the route 50 corridor, new york avenue, now we're seeing some of the heavier showers. you head up toward odenton, not quite to columbia but 95, 295, route 1 headed toward baltimore, moderate to heavy rain coming southwest right toward d.c. south of town we're watching heavier showers in prince william county, dale city down 95, just to the north and west of quantico where things are lessening in the lorton area for the moment. had some heavier showers which have come through montgomery county, loudoun, eastern areas ever fauquier county. west of may argument, -- hey mark, gainesville this is headed for warrenton. montgomery county, a lot of rain up there.

west of 270, east of 270 back into howard county. this is tracking back in toward loudoun or fairfax. you get the idea. waves and waves of rain at least for the first half of the day as temperatures there struggle. even the afternoon we'll have showers around. by 5:00 the better chance of showers will be south and southeast of d.c. but look at the temperatures. they're barely moving. we'll be lucky to get to 60 today. most of us mid mid- to upper 50s. showers taper off tonight as they move east. we'll see lows in the 40s to near 50. right now 55 in the warm spot. 50 in the cool spots locally with some 30s and 40s in the mountains. but it's just a nosy morning out there. it's raw, -- nasty morning out there. it's raw, damp. i haven't talked about the winds. they're going to increase as the storm system deepens off the atlantic. gusts later today, tonight, tomorrow could be in the 30 mile an hour range. here we are by 9:00. still with some showers around. we'll get some lulls at times

but other times, the rain is going to pick back up again. it won't be till later this afternoon that this whole area starts to pull away. that might not happen for some of us until sunset which is about 6:20 this evening. our forecast yellow alert day today with the rain, rawness, 60 and again that may be wishful thinking. 48 tonight. the winds will keep blowing. tomorrow a mix of sun and clouds, potentially more clouds in the afternoon, especially east 63. by friday much nicer, 67. your weekend looks good. and next week we get warmer, 75 monday. around 80 on tuesday. beverly farmer, 6:19. you were talking about a beltway accident last time. that's never good. >> never good. we've got a lane blocked on the outer loop of the beltway in one of the worst spots right in bethesda so that's not helping the rides out of college park. elsewhere we're getting word of other accidents and other weather-related issues. metrorail had an earlier problem impacting silver, blue, orange line. broken down train at mcpherson square has been resolved but

there's still residual delays if you're headed out to catch the metro. accident on 210, 228 berry road. they're dealing with a crash on mcarthur boulevard on the clara barton parkway. we're dealing with a crash in rockville on randolph road at park lawn drive. beach drive near military road where there may be a tree down or some obstruction in the roadway on beach drive. let's look at the camera west of connecticut avenue. the crash between connecticut, 355 on those sharp curves. a couple of vikings tangled here. the right lane has been blocked with the response to the scene although the pace looks better west of connecticut. i'm hope be the fire department has moved out of the way. that's done the damage coming over from college park. inbound 50 delay building past 202 to take you to kenilworth and knock avenues just with lanes open. they are checking eastbound 50 near 301 for the report of a crash as well. 66 lined newspaper manassas, centreville -- lined up in manassas, centreville, just past the vienna metro, the crash still on the shoulder.

better weather as we head toward the weekend. now beverly farmer with a look at what's becoming a complicated morning commute. >> reporter: we're not going to get the better traffic any time soon. it is better on the beltway west of connecticut avenue right side of screen headed away from you. the outer loop before rockville pike, a crash to the right shoulder. overall delays coming out of college park as you leave i-95 around to the scene. 66 already jammed up to get through manassas and centreville with an accident near the vienna metro over on the left shoulder. you're quite slow from 123, too. back to you. >> thank you, beverly. we have new information about the georgetown rabbi charged with voyeurism. a towson university newspaper reports that a towson student says rabbi berry fruendel took classmates on a tour of his synagogue and invited them to use a ritual bath where he's accused of installing a hidden camera to secretly record women. >> police have seized computers

and cameras from his home and from the kester israel synagogue. police are searching for multiple men who exposed themselves on the metro. >> the incidents appear to be unrelated but they appear to be becoming more frequent. nikki burdine joins us live with more. >> reporter: the fact that none of these incidents seem to be related is what metro says is the most disturbing part because they say this is part of a growing trend. let's get you right to the screen grabs of the surveillance video of the four men. the first one you're looking at is a man police say exposed himself on the redline train at rhode island avenue. they say he did this allegedly on september 3 and it happened around midnight. the second man allegedly exposed himself on the red line as well as gallery place on august 28. that happened around 10:00 at night. the third screen grab is of a man police say exposed himself

on the redline at glenmont on october 6 around 2:45 in the afternoon. and then the last one is a man who allegedly exposed himself to riders on the green line at nailer road on september 13. that happened just before midnight. police say these men have exposed themselves to different people over the past two months. they say the fact that there are four different men, four separate occasions, all different locations and that they don't seem related makes this even more disturbing because they say thy don't -- say they don't appear to be related and the trend seems to be grohing, especially the last couple of months. police are taking this very seriously and are asking anyone with information about these men to come forward. if you'd like to take a better look at the men on the screen grabs, we have them on our week site wusa9.com. back to you. >> nikki, thank you. those are some pretty clear pictures. somebody should be able to help. a road project to improve one of the main routes in and out of d.c. is going to drive some of you crazy for the next

several months. around 10:00 this morning ddot director matt brown will announce the start of a large- scale project to fully replace the 16th street bridge over military road in northwest. that project also includes improvements to military road. >> the entire project is expected to last 11 months but that is of course weather permitting. four lanes of travel on the bridge will be reduced to a single lane in each direction. a new median will be installed. a number of bus routes will be disrupted and will have to be redirected around the construction. >> that is going to be a mess for a long, long time. here's a look outside. gray skies, rain, wet roads, never a good combination, especially in our region. >> howard bernstein will have more on the forecast in a moment. here is beverly farmer with more on the roads. >> reporter: the beltway crash we had out of the way on the outer loop of the beltway between connecticut avenue and

rockville pike, one of the worst locations because that's already a bottleneck on the outer loop out of college park headed for silver spring. impacts traffic southbound 29, new hampshire, 95. pretty tough now. volume building on 50 inbound through cheverly. eastbound on 50 at 301, they were checking for a crash. still wrapping up crash 228 westbound to go north on 210. we're getting word now that downtown we've got an issue beech drive near military road with possibly a tree down. also clara barton parkway near chain bridge, possibly a tree down with all the wet weather, not surprising on the parkways to have some problems with trees. as far as the beltway wilson bridge, your lanes are open. virginia 95 we've seen the delays still coming up into dumfries, making your way into woodbridge and spring field. 395 to get through landmark. 66 lined newspaper manassas getting into -- lined up in manassas getting into fair oaks. eastbound, the crash on the left shoulder, a delay on 123

dramatic views before and after. >> reporter: this is kobani seen from above where weeks of fighting and aerial bombardment have led to widespread destruction. take a closer look at kobani's eastern industrial zone where some of the heaviest fighting has taken place. this is what the area looked like earlier this year. now look at a satellite photograph from october 15 in the aftermath of an air strike. more than a dozen buildings leveled by coalition bombs. not far away, a similar scene, a compound of buildings captured by isis where there was once trees and buildings before, now there is rubble and several massive bomb crater. the fighting and air strikes have forced thousands to flee kobani looking at a border crossing just north of town, what was an empty field now turned into a makeshift parking lot with hundreds of cars, trucks and buses abandoned by

rosaryville road heading out of -- toward upper marlboro out of brandywine. more volume on route 5 heading up through the signals at brandywine and into catch springs. clinton inner loop delays near st. barnabas headed for the wilson bridge. got a closure of beech drive closed down between joyce road, military road due to a tree down across the roadway. we have everything with this wet weather this morning. that's going to tie up the ride for northwest commuters. beech drive again closed right near military road and joyce road. i-95 virginia, volume into woodbridge, past the prince william parkway across the occoquan, into newington, springfield. more volume to the beltway on to 395 heading past landmark and shirlington. the lanes are open but the wet ride is slowing everybody's trip. beltway into silver spring and bah these dark the early morning crash west of connecticut avenue, looks like there's still activity on the right shoulder because that seems to be the focal point of delays out of college park and west.
