we have seen thrills and spills so far but we are not finished yet. now it's time to find out who will stand tallest among the pros and take home the title of monster cup champion? it's time for bar-to-bar racing and we are moments away from the gate drop of the third and final cup class main event. now let's send it back upstairs one last time to ralph and jeff. guys? >> thank you, jamie. here we go. can you hear the engines come to life before we drop the gate. let's show you our gopro unique angle. wait until you see this, jeff. talk about racing right into your living room! >> yeah, right there in the center there where the left and right starting gates come together. there it is. >> there is marvin. ricky to his left there.

enjoy it. you heard him say, "enjoy it." >> get ready for that gate drop! will we see history made? and another million dollar man? here at the monster energy cup! >> big start by moosecan on top. >> let's see how they come together. he looks like he is ripping through the rhythm lane. anderson is looking pretty solid too but it's moosecan whole shot and anderson just in seconds. can he reel it in? grand stands they did and charging down into the stands! >> you got your fastest qualifier dean wilson at third. his best start so far. he has got the speed but can they do anything to catch the number 25 on that red bull ktm of marvin? >> how aggressive will anderson be if and when he catches
6:07 pm
marvin? >> we know anderson, he's not afraid to be aggressive. he certainly has shown that throughout his career. this is also his training partner. how hard would you race a guy that is trying to earn a million bucks? moosecan so fluid right now. it's almost like the only -- the only chance that the riders have is if moosecan makes a mistake. right now taking the joker lane for the first time. our data tells us that the joker lane 5.5 seconds faster. it allows you you to exit the stadium at a 15% higher speed, 61 miles per hour versus 53 miles per hour. thank you for that data that they have collected and given us for the show here. >> moosecan is coming back through monster alley.
6:08 pm
anderson is sticking right with him. >> he has got it dialed now. made little mistakes before, but -- >> 1.7 seconds was the gap into the last lap and making their way to the finish line. get another readinging on it and see if marvin has opened it up or if anderson is closing it up. looks like he grows a little bit. >> yeah. they took the joker lane last time around. moosecan's fastest lap 50.3 and anderson was 0.3 of a second slower. about 0.8 of a second, wilson slower than anderson so they have stretched out that gap between first and third 4.3 seconds. >> eliminate a little bit of a there off the corner.
6:09 pm
he has got to close up and start forcing some little mistakes by marvin. >> yeah. he sure does. it's not looking too good for him. he is keeping him somewhat close but i really -- marvin is so -- such a good rider and very technical, smooth, precise. down here on the track, it's starting to get a little bit drier in some areas and that really plays into marvin moosecan's hands because he is so good and precise like i was telling you earlier with the throttle, has a lot of throttle control. going to be hard work for anderson. he has to get after it here. >> closing in on the halfway point. jeff, as we look towards anaheim and the start of the 2018 championship chase, marvin is moving into the number one slot at the red bull ktm team with the retirement of ryan dungy. that is a lot of pressure.
6:10 pm
working for roger that way. however, you bring a monster energy cup championship with you into anaheim, that is great momentum. >> yeah. he certainly earned that position and earned that right to, you know, say that now he is the lead rider on the team but i would say that the team is definitely performing well now that they brought him along. he's had great rides here tonight. currently running in third. marvin moosecan for sure is a rider that can, you know, be the next rider to, you know, lead the team and hopefully win some championships and continue on what tradition of, you know, excellence that they have. i started to say fill your shoes but you don't. moosecan has his own career and path he is taking. you don't replace ryan dungy.
6:11 pm
>> no doubt about that. ricky, there has been a history of great french riders in this sport. they have done great things. many have thought marvin certainly had the capability of being that next rider to do that very thing. as you have watched him over the years, and he gets ready to battle with anderson and tomack and the rest, if everything we are hearing about, his rehab continues to go positively, we fully expect to see him as well. he says plans on being in anaheim. is moosecan now ready to be the contender? >> well, he certainly has the capability on the motorcycle to do it. he is fast enough. exceptional rider in super cross and it's about mentally. at this level, it's more mental sometimes than it is physical and, you know, so if he can mentally handle it, absolutely. he is going to be a champion.
6:12 pm
that is yet to be seen. i can't wait for the season to start and see if he can do it but i'm really impressed what he is showing us tonight. this is a nice boost of confidence going into the 2018 monster energy supercross series. >> two riders here have had a great night. team wilson running third and brock tickle running in fourth. wilson third overall. tickle fourth overall. actually tying for third. 11 points each. >> yeah. very close at this point. guys are battling it out for the final spot on the podium. watch what they do right here. they both jump into that little step-up area there and that line has developed out of the sand because of that third and final -- that is building up. you know moosecan is take ago different line through there than what wilson and tickle are. cope an eye on that next time
