the young men by air and ground as detectives investigate ties between them. one hasn't been seen since wednesday the other three since friday. good evening, i'm iain page. >> i'm dawn tim feature the four men range in age from 19 to 22 and right now authorities say they are hoping and prayer praying they are found alive. let's get right out to jeff cole who's life in bucks county with the breaking details. jeff. >> reporter: dawn a lot going on. first let me tell you this. 19-year-old cosmo denardo is being recharged by the district attorney's office here on a gun charge that had been prior dismissed. i asked him why and he said we want to hold him on a chevy bon much he is not naming him espouse inspect here he wants to hold him. why? he is the son of the owner of two properties here that have been sevenned. in the meantime, as we've said as you've said this search massive for these four young m men. >> investigators searched three

locations monday corn field off lower york road in solebury township a home along aquatong road an home in bensalem. all in search for the four young men. >> we're not exactly sure what we're going to find there but we're pretty confident that the investigation is proceeding in the direction that we believed that it would. >> reporter: missing are jimmy tar patrick. dean finocciare, mark stir and tom m. oe. >> the house on aquatong is opened by sandra dinardo the owner of the bensalem home also searched this day. friends of dean spoke about him this morning. >> we have reason to believe whoever like picked him up on friday night we believe he hurt him or something of the sorts or all these kids hurt them in some way or, um,.

>> report roar you're fearful. >> absolute much absolutely. >> reporter: da says he's devoted heavy resources including fbi agents to the investigation. and expects to solve what went wrong here. >> we're not going to rest until we get through every inch of that property we need to make sure we're satisfied we've recovered any people, any properties, any indication of foul play we need to. >> reporter: they are very focused on that corner field and don't look as if they'll move away. i started off our live shot talking about a cosmo dinardo. mr. dinardo was charged in this case this new gun charge they're moving against him. he was asked to post a million dollar bond or at least part of that he was unable to do that. he was just pulled away from the bensalem police department in a van. the da is not saying that this man is a suspect. but he said they are very interested in him. they said they want totter set the bond high. they did at a million dollars and now they have him. again he's the son of two of the owners of two of the properties

searched here. we'll have more on all this at 6:00 o'clock. i'm jeff, live in solebury township. folks? >> all right, jeffrey, thank you. we will be following this story very closely as the search for these four young men continues. you can get the latest breaking details on our website any time just head to fox29.com. skyfox over a tragic accident in south philadelphia. police say a cargo container fell on a car and killed a man. it happened around 12:30 this afternoon on the 3300 block of south christmas four columbus boulevard. medic pronounced man, 52, dead at the scene police are continuing their investigation into what went wrong. also on the 3300 block of columbus boulevard, seven tractor trailers go up in flames. fire crews got the call around 10:30 last night. they were able to put the flames out about an hour later. fortunately, no one was hurt. to night investigation into how that fire began continues. developing right now, 18 former penn state frat brothers

back in court today charged in connection to the death of sophomore pledge. judge will soon decide if there's enough evidence to go to trial. fox 29's dave kinchen was that hearing and joins us live from bellefont, center county, dave. >> reporter: that hearing literally just ended minutes ago. and defense attorneys started hammering away at testimony from the lead investigator. >> looking forward to asking some questions today. >> reporter: young defendants and their attorneys made their way into day two of a preliminary hearing where 18 ex beta theta pi brothers face charge force the haze death of 19-year-old pledge timothy piazza his parents enduring recapping and expanding on text messages showing fraternity members fearing getting busted for running a boozing marathon known as the gauntlet that would have deadly consequences. >> the piazzas have sat there as patiently as any grieving parents could possibly do.

>> state college police detective david chick tan ton knee was back on the stand testifying the text messages showed fraternity leaders were afraid of going to jail and being sued for piazza's death but still efforted what prosecutors call a coverup. make sure the pledges clean the basement and get rid of the evidence of alcohol. fraternity president brendan young of malvern texted the frats pledge master according to court records. and in a text message from young to his girlfriend "at the end of the day, i'm accountable for it all". >> computer records showed one of the brothers searching online to see how nine drinks in an hour affect a 200-pound guy. an attorney william brennan hit back at accusations that his client 20-year-old joseph opens of philadelphia was involved in planning for the booze and that he hit unresponsive and dying piazza. >> he doesn't swing. he doesn't wind up. you'd have to presume that he made contact and that you'd have to presume was his hand open, was his fist closed? did he do

today. reading 87. trenton allentown atlantic city and wilmington all in the mid 80s. a breezy day with a southerly wind but it's also pumping up the humidity. right now 76 in the poconos. 85 i85 wilmington. 84 in millville, wildwood and atlantic city airport. down the shore with those southerly winds 79 degrees in ocean city. sea isle city, north wide wood 80 degrees. 77 at cape may mount and the ocean water temperature 71 degrees. dew points are rising this is the drew amount of months moochers in the afternoon. when you see dew points in the 60s that is uncomfortable once you get towards 70 we're talking about oppressive and that's where we are headed. we're seeing some showers and thunderstorms to the west. they will ride north of the area overnight tonight but it will be hot and it will be steamy over the next couple of days. we're headed for another heat wave in the seven day forecast. we'll be tracking the threat of some storms some turning severe this week. more on that coming up later in the broadcast i see you then. >> all right. see you then, kathy. thank you. tonight delaware state police

are searching for the driver who hit a man in a wheelchair and just kept on going. police say a 29-year-old man was heading east on east lea boulevard in wilmington on friday night when the driver of a dark colored suv hit him near north market street. the driver did stop at first according to police but then took off. the victim has serious but non-life threatening injuries. >> tonight into new castle delaware friends and family are remembering a woman and three cats filled killed yesterday after a car crash. their holding vigil for la torre ya cooper who died yesterday when her car crashed into the brandywine sal valley spca3 cats also died after the building caught fire. the accident is still under investigation. that wildwood police say they do not think the drowning avenue little girl is suspicious. that child who was just six years old died on saturday at the nantucket inn in sweets. police say she unknowingly entered the deep end of the swimming pool. the girl was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead a short time later. that drowning remains under

investigation. happening right now, on the heels of his second foreign trip president trump is back in the oval office. he's trying to turn his attention back to domestic agenda including making health care reform a reality. but russia' meddling in the 2016 election still has a cloud around what's happening at the white house. fox's joel waldman is in washington with more. >> reporter: as hard as a president may be trying to get back on track regarding his legislative agenda the narrative here in washington, remains on russia. latest issue a meeting in june of last year shortly after president trump became the republican nominee. donald trumps jr., along with the senior adviser and son-in-law jared kushner and then campaign chairman paul man any fort had meeting with a russian lawyer allegedly with ties to the kremlin. the lawyer reportedly offering up dirt on opponent hillary clinton. don, jr., claiming he thought the get together was about u.s. russian adoption policy.

smell? that's what many residents in philadelphia's wynnefield area are wondering to night. neighbors are complaining about a strong odor. >> yeah they say it's coming from a warehouse and our bruce gordon set out to get some answers he joins us live from wynnefield with the details. bruce, what did you fine out? >> reporter: well, dawn, this is one of those mysteries upon which i often embark in my little world of reporting much the question here in this neighborhood is, what's going on in the warehouse just across the street from these homes? and why does it smell so bad? is something wrong? >> woke up this morning. me and my baby were choke we were coughing so bad. >> reporter: pruzell and two-year-old addison are used to the unpleasant odor waffled over from the warehouse across the street from their home on the 5400 block of upland in fill's wynnefield section. but neighbors say monday morning was different. worse. much worse. >> this morning is when it really hit me. this morning when it really hit me. what is that smell? that's not a normal smell. >> reporter: glenn hutchings

had just posted about the smell on the neighborhood website when we responded from a call from folk on the block. >> my window was block the smell just hit me. what is that smell? you know, it smelled like, you know, maybe dead rodents or whatever. >> reporter: julianne cane had just returned from grocery shopping when we chatted her observations gave us a hint as to the culprit. >> well, it's an odd smell because it smells a lot like vinegar for me. it fels smells like vinegar. very bad vinegar. >> reporter: turns out the warehouse is operated by a company called dependable distribution service. the boss wasn't around when we visited but a worker told us they distribute cocoa beans. told us the beans can smell a bit funky as he put it. and a quick google search revealed those beans during certain stages of fermentation smell power physical of, wait for it, vinegar. but why was the odor so strong? >> hi, jim, bruce gordon at fox 29. i followed up on a neighborhood call to the city health department. they came out, inspected and issued a notice of violation.

turns out an exhaust fan was malfunctioning. the company has five days to fix it and give these neighbors back their clean air. >> oh, great. great. that's good news. >> little bit of information. little bit of help. >> yes. a whole lot of help. >> reporter: who knew your chocolate candy bar had such foul smelling origins. again the company has five days to fix the exhaust fan situation and keep the odor to themselves. dawn, we reached out to the company for further comment. have not heard back yet. >> all right. good job, though, bruce getting results. dramatic surveillance video out of olney now has police on the hunt for a bold burg lauer. police say a man smashed the glass door of this dunkin' donuts on the 5400 block of north fifth street. it happened back on july 6th but the video just now being released once inside the man took two whole cash registers and made off with them. if you recognize this guy, police definitely want to hear from you. ten of thousands of commuters in new york city dealing with even bigger crowds than normal and more delays

today. because it's the first day of amtrak's extensive summery pair work at penn station much the changes impact a handful of nj transit lines and weekdays only through september 1st. new jersey transit is diverting some rush hour trains to hoboken so passengers can switch to path trains for% row. officials say so far so good. >> well, you know, we had much anticipation on this. we came prepared and it seems commuters came prepared as well. everything is going smoothly so far. >> it's good. we were going to take the path train but then we have time to kill because we left two hours early. so now we'll take the ferry which is great way to start your day i hope. >> if you take amtrak in the direction of boston or d.c. there will be fewer trains during peak periods so then of again the repair work will gone until september 1st. speaking of repair work, if you use i-76 get ready for some closures. crews will be doing road work starting tomorrow and running through thursday between the route 202 interchange and route 1 which is city avenue. both east and westbound lanes

will be closed there's a little bit of good news. those lanes will only be closed between 9:00 at night and 5:00 in the morning. hopefully it will not affect rush hour traffic. >> big announcement fda approved new drug to treat sickle cell disease. announcement that people with the disease have been waiting decades for. our joyce evans joins us now to explain. joyce? >> reporter: iain, many people tell us it's actually quite a surprise especially after decades of frustration over a lack of funding and what appeared to be a lack of interest in sickle cell research. it is a genetic defect in the shape of blood cells they're not round they're shaped like a sickle some of them and it affects hundreds of thousands of mostly black and brown people around the world. its effects may be deadly. >> if this drug can reduce pain and reduce the frequency of pa pain, then it's going to be huge. >> reporter: it took 20 years but hematologist robin e-mail lower director of 93 hours hospital for children sickle

cell program says it looks much more promising for her patients than just some other drug. >> the fact that the initial study included children is very very exciting. it seems like the side effects are not going to be severe the. >> reporter: hopefully making it an option that more patients five years and older might be able to tolerate. patients like 17-year-old a maya melton who happens to be suffering the excruciating effects of sickle cell disease today. >> she gets pain. she's unable to walk at times. headaches, um, she loses a lot of her blood volume. which require her to stay hydrated and that's another hard thing for teenager. her mom and the teen are thrilled about this new drug. but just how many patients will benefit is unknown. as well as if the medicine will lessen damagin damaging he oak s of sickle cell on patient's organs overtime. >> i don't think it's clear yet from the data.

how much this drug will impact on the organ damage that we see in sickle cell but by far the most debilitating problem that patients with sickle cell face is the terrible recurrent pain. there's a lot of research going on and there are other drugs in the pipeline, and i think that this also gives all hope that more and more things will start coming through for this patient population that's so desperately needs new treatment. >> a lot of hope. new drug is not a cure but dr. miller says she is hopeful about new research that may make bone marrow transplant an option for more sickle cell patients and safer. dawn. all right, joyce, thank you. normally reporters have to go to the news. not this time. the news came right through this station's front door. >> it's what a london' most tourist spots today it is charred. why the moon bear isn't what used expect.

tragedy in upstate new york after state trooper is killed in the line of duty. police say 36-year-old joel davis was responding to reports of shots fired when an army soldier opened fire on him. pleased say that soldier 32-year-old justin walters also killed his wife. it happened last night in the town of theresa near the canadian border. walters is behind bars charge tonight with murder. a driver with medical emergency plows right into a tv station in kansas over the weekend it's all caught cam a take a look at the station poseurs individual showing shot of the roads. minutes late it shows a truck careening out of truck before smashing into the building. the scary moments were also caught from an inside angle. >> luckily there wasn't terrorism or deliberate response to us and so therefore everyone in the building was okay. >> the driver was hurt in the crash but is expected to be okay. in london investigators are

looking in what started a fire at a popular tourist spot. >> dozens of firefighters raced to the historic camden lock market early this morning. it took them about three hours to get the flames under control. millions of people visit the market each year to enjoy entertainment light knife and shopping much sadly this is the second time in recent years that the tourist destination has been affected by a serious fire. >> there was a fire few years ago. a lot of the traders are used to it. not used it to. they're coming to work looking for trading locations and they're very calm and collected. >> the last major fire was back in 2008. fortunately no one was hurt in either of these incidents. first it was new jersey struggling to pass a budget. now it's the keystone state. what one big factor holding things up in harrisburg. >> and meteorologist kathy orr is tracking a big warmup on the way. kathy? >> yeah, big warmup. we're talking about heat and humidity and summertime storms

whatever i can to make this and bring awareness. >> reporter: after years of struggling, the youngest of her four daughters 28-year-old tony overdosed on heroin six weeks ago. >> she's never coming back. and this was our first fourth of july without her. >> we tried to support her the best we can but it's bigger than us. >> this is when she went to the beach. >> nicole reached out to south philly's own tony luke, jr. of the famous stoke and hoagies franchise he started the hash tag brown and white campaign to remove the stigma of drug addiction after his son tony iii recently ed pods on heroin, too. >> tony's battle was my battle. every fight that she fought, every time she was hurt, every time she had to be taken away in an ambulance, i was with her. >> she always wanted to be perfect. and she never really understood that nobody was perfect.

ocean city picture showed the wind a serious sea breeze down the shore. inland old city philadelphia you can see some fare weather cumulus clouds still a deep blue sky the color of my dress but by tomorrow, it's going to be milky white variety because we're talking about higher humidity. temperatures 87. that is normal for this time of year. the dew .66. it's muggy getting little uncomfortable out there. 84 degrees in pottstown. allentown 85. 87 degrees in wrightstown. you can see in atlantc at the airport it's 84 but that's 9 miles inland on the boardwalk it is 78 degrees. 79 in ocean city with a strong on shore flow. sea isle looking at 78. north wildwood 80 and cape ma may point it is 77 degrees. the wind was southerly earlier and now it's taking on more of a southeasterly component and you're getting that sea breeze down the shore. ultimate doppler showing a few fair weather clouds with some storms to the south and some to

the northwest passing over erie right now and heading towards central pa most of this will be fading toward the philadelphia area. and the best chance of showers or few rumbles of thunder overnight will be to the north and west in the lehigh hal valley and poconos. be aware of that. dew point is the true amount of moisture in the atmosphere unlike the relative humidity it doesn't change with temperature so it's a more exact figure of how uncomfortable it is. so when you see dew point temperatures in the 60. that's humid. it's uncomfortable. millville at 68. when these numbers approach 70. that's when it gets oppressive with hot temperatures. that will be happening this we week. tomorrow we'll be feeling like 98 when you combine the heat and humidity. the same for wednesday. by thursday, it will be feeling like it's about 104. that's when the heat tumps turns dangerous bite friday only 88. you can see that humidity will be knocked down as well as the temperature. during the day tomorrow, you'll see the clouds on the increase. some showers popping up late in the day. a few could be severe late in the afternoon especially to the north and west of the city. wednesday we see more heat and

humidity moving through and once again the showers and thunderstorms maybing bubbling up in the heat of the day. so overnight tonight the low 74 degrees. balmy with some storms. far to the north of philadelphia. late tonight. during the day tomorrow, we'll see more humidity and hotter temperatures. our first 91-degree day this week. afternoon storms with some winds gusting to around 25 miles an hour. there is a threat of severe weather tomorrow for most of the area. a few storms could be severe. the main threat would be damaging winds and some ponding or localized flooding of streets. down the shore, looking at 86 during the day tomorrow. by wednesday, 85. you can see those south southwest winds. on the seven day forecast from the weather authority, wednesday 91 degrees. thursday 95. the best chance of showers in a few more severe storms. friday unsettled 85. saturday, sunday looking good for the weekend. next monday a chance of afternoon showers and storms. the high 85. so here we do again, guys.

caught on camera biker is hit in a hit-and-run. the video comes from tennessee where a guy named greg goodman was wearing a body camera while he and his friend were biking. all of a sudden you see his friend tyler no get hit by a c car. >> wow. >> the car takes off. doesn't stop. the biker gets right back up.

he was taken to a hospital and is doing okay. police have arrested that driv driver. a teen in colorado goes head to head with bear and comes out on top. >> but not without some battle scars we want to worn you the video is graphic. >> 19-year-old dylan now has nine stitches in the back of his head. he was camping at glacier view ranch he woke up in the middle of the night to hearing a crunching sound. that noise was the bear taking a bite out of the his skull. the bar dragged him 10 feet out of his sleeping bag while he slept under the stars with other camp staffers. >> i grab a hold of the bear by his ear and i found his eye and i was poking it and it just let go of me and i was able to get away. >> for aware to walk up and bite a human that is a dangerous bear. i think that's the kind of bear has gotten way too comfortable with people and now is a threat to human. >> colorado parks and wildlife will track or trap and kill the bear. they say they do not want this

to happen to anyone else. speaking of incredible stories of survival. not often you find yourself in the jaws of a 10-foot alligator and live to tell about it but that's what happened to a florida man. erin mose her has the amazing story. >> how you feeling? >> um, like a gator grabbed me. >> reporter: scott is joke about it now face timing from his hospital bed. his situation was as serious as it gets. >> he can have ripped my arm off or, you know, he could have crabbed my head. he could have drowned me. >> reporter: so many ways things could have ended up wor worse. when this ten and a half foot alligator attacked him friday. >> he just came and i mean full blast grabbed my arm all the way back in his throat. and then he started to roll with me. >> reporter: he was just doing his job. he's professional diver hired to remove golf balls from the lakes the owe rotunda golf and cun klee club. he never saw the gator coming hadn't to think fast. >> i knew i had to do something. i starter punching him, you know, up buy the eye.

he left go. >> reporter: in sudden race to save his own life, he sped back to the clubhouse in golf cart. >> i was going to lay down on the green but i knew if i did, i didn't think i would make it. >> was really horrendous attack his wife had never forget the call from her frantic husband moments after he escape the animal's jaws. >> i got a call with him screaming on the line with gut wrenching sound, telling me he had and were attacked by an alligator. >> florida fish and wildlife trappers caught him. it weighs between five and 600 pounds. >> the guy is lucky he got away from it. >> it was a miracle i believe god was protecting him. >> they realized scott is fortunate he's alive but they also know the gator's bite could leave him facing more tough battles ahead. >> probably, you know, over 400 staples and stitches, um, and we're just praying that no infection sets in over the next couple of days.

eight least eight lawsuits where kids drowned in cruise ship pools. royal caribbean and norwegian added to guards this spring. carnival is pulling out of port right here in tampa with no lifeguards duty non plans to change that. >> the signage on carnival cruise ship the same sign app all these years. it's tiny principle. you would never know there was any lifeguards on the ships. >> even with the launch of a brand new dr. seuss themed water park on board their latest ship carnival won't have any lifeguard. we asked them why. does it have to do with liability, overhead costs. >> carnival cruiselines gave a written statement saying they've invest add lot of money to ensure personnel trained in water safe tear pigged by their pools and water slides saying "how we address water safety is based upon our belief in the importance of parental supervision and responsibility and not on any other factors". >> it never donned on me.
