>> brian, you are in maplewood. the sound of silence. what you got? >> the roar of the leaf blower. if that sound drives you nuts you might want to consider moving to maplewood, new jersey. the town council band gas powered leaf blowers the summertime. they give it a try with a one-year ban last year. they like the peace and quiet so much that they put full effect permanent ban. it is may 15 - september 30. no gas leaf blowers. >> we had meetings with the town council about it. they were trying to compromise but there is never any compromise. >> the blowers create a health hazard and annoyance to area residents. the mayor says increased use of a gas blowers in the summer got way out of hand.

>> about 14 years ago we passed an ordinance requiring landscapers to use a 65-decibel leaf blower. we tried to enforce it and it became unenforceable. they did not honor the agreement we had. >> but landscapers are fighting back. the new jersey landscape association says they're going to challenge this in court. it only applies to them. the residence can use this all they want under the law. >> it's going to be tough and hurt the taxpayers, the people who are paying us to do a good job on the properties because will not be able to use it. >> they say typical job in the summer of mowing the lawn and blowing away the clippings is usually less than 15 minutes. they don't think it causes a lot of problems. those recently purchased in the last two years are lower decibel leaf blowers.

the electric leaf blowers do not last as long. the batteries won't last as long and there's not enough power. it will be an interesting court case. >> the electric leaf blowers and some of the battery-operated once registered at a higher decibel level than the gas once. apparently they didn't do research. more partly, i want to call out the mayor and the council a bunch of cowards. if they were serious about noise and issues, they would have banned all of the lawn products. i want to see when the electric leaf blower isn't long enough to get to the end of the driveway or backyard and the landscaper has to role in the gas powered generator to plug-in electric leaf blower. >> people of their wants and what a perfect. >> they should just enjoy nature, the spring, the leaves, and frolic all around the leaves. >> has take first world problems. i wonder how many of these people do their own lawn to the first place? >> the ban is on landscapers.

a bunch of the calls i got this morning our neighbors saying it's not the neighbors it's my -- has stuff out all the time. we are used to a lot of honking and noise, leaf blower, talk to me about a real problem. job to enforce the rules, less the company? >> that's what it seems like. there's signs that says you can idle here or you will be fine. those i spoke to said the residents are getting fine but this company is in. you can see the flower on the side of the building but it's the fact that there's a school nearby, they're taking down local polson fire hydrants. no one is it doing anything about it. >> i was parked outside of a noodle restaurant in nyc. i put it there overnight. when i came back the next morning their soy sauce and noodles dripping down the side of my car because they decided to throw their trash out in front of my car. >> free food. >> and, were out. >> check out this, little humans farm is one of the best-kept

the little romney farm is one of the areas best-kept secrets. it happens to be one of the largest sheep farms in the state. >> we have clientele interested knowing where the fruit comes from. they want to have a connection with a local farmer. >> this farm truly represents the american dream in more ways than one. charlene and her husband have been running it for 30 years. they have been able to go throughout the country and many farmers have stopped raising sheep. she says it's because the process can be expensive. to put it in perspective, 1997 report showed there was close to 8 million sheep throughout the country. recent stats showed that number has dwindled to 5.3 million sheep because there's not that much demand. charlene says one of the reasons they continue to thrive in this economy is because of the rich diversity. especially this time of year they see an uptick in sales.

it must to hit bill and his family like -- it's in the killer's own words. the man who has been indicted for the murder of karina was in court today having an appearance that we thought would be quick come in and out. what we didn't expect was the prosecutors would read snippets of statements that lewis allegedly gave to them while being interviewed about karina's murder. offering a killer's eye view of a merger that shack new york city and continues to reverberate right down to now. according to prosecutors, lewis gave the statements in an interview with police the day they took a dna sample and three days later when he was arrested. according to lewis he would occasionally walk from his home in brooklyn to the howard beach neighborhood in queens, he liked eating there. he first came into thousand 16 but told police he was not familiar with the weeds area was karina was running.
