>> diana, your chasing a story, a horse story. a young woman, 20 years old dies after entering pancake eating contest. >> caitlin nelson was 20 years old studying social work at sacred heart university in fairfield, connecticut. she dedicated much of her life to volunteering after losing her father during the 9/11 attacks. on sunday, she died three days after participating in a pancake eating contest. >> everybody's just supporting each other trying to get through something that honestly should not have happened. >> they said she started choking during the event which was one of many held during greek week. the autopsy has it to be finished. police say she had multiple food allergies.

>> she had medical staff at columbia that food allergies did not play contributing factor in her choking incident. >> students say they learned of her death during a mass held on sunday. they shared the video on instagram of the candlelight vigil held after the mass. you can see over 1000 people attended that event. >> it's hard for a lot of people. i know one of the fraternities is doing an event to help fund raise. caitlin had a goal for one of her's wordy events. >> that goal was to raise $15000 for her sorority kappa delta national event called shamrock the runway. all funds go to prevent child abuse in america. it benefits the health and well-being of children across the country. she was actually two thirds to the way of raising that money. so they continue to reach and

help caitlin reach her goal. her family was from clark, new jersey. they decided to donate all of her organs. as the port authority police benevolent association said, just like her father who gave his life and her final moments, caitlin has done the same. >> imagine what her mother is gone through. oftentimes something like this happens and finger circuiting pointed and someone is accused of being liable. is there any talk about liability on the part of the sorority? >> the sororities are not speaking. i went to many girls and they said we cannot say anything. the school doesn't want us to talk. right now there's a push to find out more information. what a horrible situation. >> i'm trying to look at this on the positive side. it sells like up above and haven't we now have another angel, another hero. her father sounds like a great person. she sounds like she dedicated her life to give back.

the story before. we have team chaser coverage. brian, you have to report this but let's start at the nj transit meeting today. you have the nuts and bolts of what happened. >> commuters are setup with nj transit. how much longer do they have to deal with them mind-boggling incompetence? on monday morning a new jersey train derailed as it was slowing down coming into penn station. even on tuesday morning services still not back to normal. a commuter tweeted out this picture. he believed it was the wheel that fell off the train that derail at penn station. i blew up the pitcher, put it on a poster and brought it with me to the new jersey transit board meeting on tuesday, so the executive director and board officials could take a look at what is left of the train. a commuter actually responded to me and in the tweet the commuter tells me to lay into them for

coming down the hallway coming across a rat, or mouse. the surveillance video shows the cop making his way down the hallway, coming across the animal, and bolting to the end. he then tries to see if you safe and the coast is clear. he casually walks away. i think he is checking to see if anyone else was looking. >> you said that not all heroes wear capes. not all villains wear masks. pennsylvania couple pulled an april fools' day joke. they took a letter and extended it out 10 feet so the postman came to get the letter he pulled it out like a magician's and they had two daughters that were involved in this. i cannot involve they were involved with much else in their lives because the parents were obsessed with doing stupid stuff like this. the couple, bill and his wife did this for america for april fools' day. people seem to enjoy, but not me.

hand so she wrote an open letter to the famous writer pleading any help that he can get in raising awareness for the situation. in the later she referenced game of thrones a lot. she goes on to say that she identified with john snow because she fiercely wants to protect her loved one. she also said that sam who was john's best friend reminds her of her daughter because of her quiet strength and sweetness, and devotion. sheehan, we hope for survival, we hope for your assistance. i did some digging into this and i spoke about the author to the head of the school when i was there. not really the best relationship there. if you go to george r. r. website he is not responded to the letter yet. if you look at his bio he wrote it himself, but each part of his life. when you get to high school the percent of his high school years. my four years at marist high

school were not the happiest of my life. so, i don't know if is looking very good. especially because he is the guy that gets you to love a character so much a man kills every single person in the world. literally never seen anything coming, they haven't heard anything back from him. the letter itself is but gaining interest. maybe he will have a change of heart and throw little at them. if they can't raise the money the doors will be shut. $75000 has been raised since we heard the story. they are at about $85000. >> i'm sure that was the first letter is ever gotten requesting money. >> judging from how he has produced the books in recent years, my prediction for this is that he is going to say i will write the check and then take two and half years to actually write the check. because he is a slow. i've been waiting for that six book. >> he doesn't come out in public very much. he doesn't speak in public too often. he does take five years between his novel.
