boarding home fire in north philadelphia. >> lets get to fox 29's lauren johnson on north between the second street, lauren, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, chris. let me step out of the way. still very activity scene a serene story, boarding home here went up in heavy smoke at 2:53 this morning. the fire was under control in 16 minutes. right now it is unclear if there was any smoke alarms in the the building functioning. we also here that the smoke alarms if they were may have been turn off. the fire marshals of course conducting an investigation. you can see fire fighters are going back inside that building. we understand there was one fatality. last year we had 21 fatalities, currently, 2014, 25, so about two dozen people are displaced after they have been trans port todd another shelter, but the one victim in this was found a alone in an upstairs apartment where the initial fire started. fire department did not need to do evacuations in this
