7:09 am
tomorrow is election day, are you going to vote. >> midterm elections in pennsylvania and voters will elect a governor. >> yes. >> and my prediction, tom will win. >> why is that. >> because they are both named tom. >> here's jenny joyce. >> good prediction there mike. >> two heavy hitters, we have had governor chris christie and president baracke bam a. obama came here, he touched down in philadelphia. he went off with tom wolf to temple university to give wolf one final push . the before people went to the polls tomorrow. e bomb a and corbett had an event. they are hoping to beat out incumbent tom corbett. there will be lower voter turnout than in previous midterm elections. the president says tom wolf will benefit the state of pennsylvania with plans to improve polls and keep the the local economy moving in the right direction.
7:10 am
>> here's the thing you know about tom, he does president care whether the idea is republican or democrat, as long as it works. he is a practical person who just wants to make it work for the people of pennsylvania. so he knows, for example that education is a key, not just to economic growth the but also to personal advancement in a modern economy. he will not run on a agenda of slashing budgets for schools and laying off thousands of teachers. he knows teachers matters. >> reporter: republican governor tom corbett had a big day yesterday campaigning with some help from new jersey governor chris christie throughout the pennsylvania suburbs. this event was held in ivyland bucks county, christie says that the governor has done a lot for this state in terms of jobs and political figures and asked people of pennsylvania

7:12 am
campaign ads folks? thanks, jenny. people of boston paid their final respects to the legendary former mayor, thomas manino, who lied in state until his burial later this morning in hyde park. family, friends, and politicians including secretary of state john kerry paid their respects. the mayor served more than 20 years in that office. the longest in boston's history. he became a familiar face to people around the country during the aftermath of those marathon bombings. mayor manino died thursday of cancer. he was 71. >> we're learning more about ferguson, in missouri. police requested a in fly zone to keep the media away during protest that is followed michael brown's death. well, according to the ap u.s. government a agreed to restrict 37 miles of air space for 12 days in august for safety reasons for what they said but recordings show that authorities private live a said they wanted to keep news
7:13 am
hell cooperate's way. michael brown was that unarmed man killed by a ferguson police officer. a grand jury right now is trying to deciding whether the officer will be charged. police in california are expect to relieve more details about the death of three young trick or treaters. they made multiple arrests after three, 13 years old girls were killed in the hit and run accident while trick or treating friday night in santa ana. investigators say twin sisters and a friend were in the crosswalk when a suv slammed into them. damaged car was found a short distance from the scene. and trenton's health director says that a number of residents there are among a group of people being monitored for ebola. health officials say most have traveled to west africa but they are considered a very low risk for getting the virus. last week the new jersey state department reported about a hundred people in the state are being monitored.
7:14 am
no one has become sick with the virus. over a hundred people are being tracked here in the state of pennsylvania. well, she squared off against the governors of maine and new jersey. >> now nurse kacie hick ox says we can all learn a lot from her story. judge ruled that she can come and go as she pleases but she has to monitor her health daily. when she first came back to the u.s. last month from treating ebola patients from sierra leone, hick ox was forced in quarantine in new jersey despite having no ebola symptoms. after getting pushed back from the public and the white house governor christie allowed hickox to go home to maine where authorities there also tried to force her to honor a 21 day quarantine. on nbc's meet the prick, hick ox says everybody can just relax. >> we know a lot aboute bowl, we have been researching this disease for 38 years instant is is its first appearance in africa and we know how the infection is transmitted from person to person. it is not transmitted from
7:15 am
someone a symptomatic as many other aid workers will be when they return. >> you notice nbc went to her and didn't have her in the studio. >> true. >> despite everything, she says that she will respect wishes of town residents and avoiding nothing to town for the rest of her incubation period, which ends, november the the tenth. mike, i have a confession to make. >> what. >> this sunday, just this weekend, i complained about the cold a little bit. >> i knew would you. the wind was 40 or 50 miles an hour. >> thinks winter weather in texas. fact that it is just fall. i need to be thankful. weather ace i big story in maine. heavy snowfall was scene over the weekend. >> it was snowing in maine, boston there was snow at the game, patriots game, up to a foot of snow, fell across the state of in maine though knocking out power to parts of the region. a mixture of snow and high wind. dangerous driving conditions. basically it was a nor'easter. wasn't it, sue.
7:16 am
>> yes, we got it on saturday. we got all that rain. rain, rain, only rain and we were glad because that cold air shot right down to south carolina and gave them some snow in columbia, south carolina several inches of snow there we have escaped the snow but it was a yucky day on saturday and then yesterday the time change. so let's summarize for you, what is going on now for you. >> okay. >> because, like me, if were you like me and you had pajama day yesterday and just stayed in, we are at eastern standard time now. the sun rose at 6:34. it will set, check this out, 4:56. >> come on. >> i know. shorter days. this is this time of the year. reminder if you didn't, change those smoke detectors batteries. you should do it twice a year. you will be okay. so, this morning, we have a freeze warning in effect in lancaster county until 8:00 o'clock. and then we will have have 12 miles an hour winds in wilmington and reading. 7 miles an hour winds in philadelphia, so it is not nearly as bad as it was over the weekend but it still makes it feel a little bit colder then it actually is.
7:17 am
these are your current temperatures. we've got than to 41 degrees in reading. thirty-nine in philadelphia 35 degrees in mount pocono. thirty-six in allentown. forty's in wilmington. forty-six, is there your warm spot, ish, in wildwood, and so that is how we are right now if you are walking out the door. what happens? low pressure system went beyond the state of maine this morning, and went into the canadian mar times. so high pressure is our weather maker for the next couple of days. and then next chance of rain is from that cold front way out to the west, and it does not arrive until wednesday night. your temperature trend has really been going down and we only topped off at 49 degrees yesterday, and good news, in your seven day forecast, we're at 58 degrees for today, and 68 for tomorrow. so some places on election day may even reach 70 degrees. we will have have that, two, nine's tuesday and wednesday. rain arrived late wednesday night into thursday, high of only 62. you will see temperatures kind of going down. over the weekend it is dry and we will remain in the 50's.
7:18 am
so it will be chill toy get started on sunday morning. we have a walk to end alzheimer's at citizens bank park, and see you there, bob kelly. >> you got that, bright and early. good morning, everybody. bright and early this morning you'll see a little bit of the change as sunrisees an hour earlier. all part of the moving the clocks back over the weekend. time to make the doughnuts. southbound on i-95, jammed from cottman avenue in through girard. you'll see the city sky line there in the background and then just watch for an accident now, right here near the conshohocken curve. we will put the happens in motion, eastbound schuylkill, jammed, solid, heading in to the curve, now, this morning, for the first time in a long while, this half an hour, it is seeing sun glare on the schuylkill at conshohocken. that will throw folks out of whack here over the next couple of days with the changing of the clock, abe that sun pops up, an hour early. an accident on the new jersey turnpike, northbound, right here near route 206, and over the weekend they have opened up the new three lanes, on the southbound side of that new jersey turnpike.
7:19 am
they were giving out a ton of tickets for folks sipping down over the speed limit. septa has 30 minutes delays on the lansdale doylestown line because of overhead wire problems. otherwise the rest of the mass transit system looking good. mike and alex, back over to you. did you see this last night. >> no. >> i did. >> i refused to watch it. i don't want any pennsylvania part of what happenedy was at a restaurant. they had games on. they turned it, all of them, to see this, dare devil nick wallenda pulled off two sky scraper tightrope walks. one he was blindfolded in chicago. >> there it is, that is a very familiar building, 35 year-old nick walked uphill at a 19-degree angle from the marina city west tour to the top of the building on the other side of the river. so what does he do, he turns around and goes back blindfolded. >> he went to a different building blindfolded, like three different buildings he was connected to.
7:20 am
it was just crazy. >> he did this over niagara falls. >> he did it over river gorgey get any pleasure out of watching that. >> he had his family there, his kids, wife, parents. he did it, without incident too. it was great. once they got there. >> in the windy city too. >> probably more windy here. >> so what do we do about the eagles. >> i don't know, we have two main players new hurt, one on offense, one defense, and i want to see, and hear how mike missanelli from 97.59 fanatic will be feeling about this. he is here in a few minutes. so halloween is over and parents are looking forward to the holidays, should you buy the big toys though right away? or wait later, until they go on sale. we will tell you which toys you should wait and which you should snatch upright now. we will be right back.

in 2001, doctor manan trivedi joined the marines. ryan costello went into politics. trivedi served as a battlefield surgeon in iraq. costello served himself by voting to raise his own pay. and while trivedi cared for patients in pennsylvania, costello gave millions in government contracts to his campaign contributors -even as he cut funding for child abuse prevention. in congress, only trivedi will do what's right for you. i'm manan trivedi, and i approve this message.
7:24 am
third down and 16, foles, wrapped up again and sacked. >> ouch. >> that play will probably be the last time we see nick foles for a while or maybe forever. it is the long range situation, hi mike. >> good morning, guys. >> how should we be feeling. we won the game we are six and two. two of our best players down. >> demeco ryans is terrible loss because now they have to put casey matthews in the line up. the foles thing they signed sanchez for this type of the situation. very confident backup. he has won playoff games. he will have to take them for at least the next five weeks. when he got in there he moved
7:25 am
the team for the first three times, first three series he was in, he throws that pass right there to jeremy maclin. he threw a couple touchdown passes, this is a beautiful throw right there to jordan matthews and then last touchdown pass in the corner of the end zone to maclin. he did a nice job. situation here is you are talking about five weeks before foles can get back in there. fourth week if he is out a month a against seattle. they won't throw him to the wolf to seattle. by that time sanchez will have either won the job or they will to go back to foles to rescue the the season and it may be too late to rescue the season but longer term picture here is what do they do with next year. they may be forced in to a situation where they have to draft a quarterback and find a bridge to that guy as they groom a young quarterback, and that, that could put sanchez in the mix. foles hasn't done enough, he has got one year left on his contract. eagles would have to say we
7:26 am
will take a chance on him for one more year or decide to sign sanchez for a couple years while they draft a guy in the first round and have two years to groom him. >> that is ramifications of this whole thing. >> we will to have wait and see. >> we will. >> a, can sanchez get the job done over the next four weeks. >> do you think he can. >> yeah, i think you can. when you saw the game, alex, you saw a guy with quicker feet. they ran the football because they ran him under center. they don't do that with foles a lot, little quicker. sanchez is quicker off the snap and running game is better when quarterback takes snap under center n that one drive they went four plays, 70 yards and that was turning point of the game. >> i can talk about it more morning but is there other things more important to get to. >> did you get your coffee. >> you know those people who are always yelling, don't talk to me before i have my coffee. >> yes. >> now there is signs to back
7:27 am
that up, that attitude why people who have a hot drink every more friendly. and which toys should you buy right now and what can wait until jack friday. jen fred will let us know. that elsa. >> of course, it is elsa, we cannot get elsa off our mind here at fox 29. this toy is as tall as me. these are the things that will be sold out by black friday. really dude you have to be that tall.

newspapers speak out. tom corbett has been something of a disaster. tom corbett cut spending on education by a billion dollars... it's time for a change. elect tom wolf, and you'll get the type of governor we haven't seen for a while...

7:29 am
...one who looks out for average, hard-working pennsylvanians. it's wolf who has solid ideas for bringing in new business and for boosting the economy. tom wolf for governor, a fresh start for pennsylvania. i love bacon so much, his sub. i'm launching a line of bacon jewelry. aw, i've seen those online, but-have you ever seen bacon brows? what was that? i was just putting the finishing touches on my bacondor. everyone loves bacon at subway. try it on a bacon egg & cheese. subway. eat fresh.
7:30 am
does this building duck? i mean hoist the corporate sponsor? >> yeah, well, you know what building he is talking about. i think liberty tower in lower manhattan. 9/11 jokes. chris rock was the host of at day night live and that is how he started the show with the mono log. he joked about 9/11, boston marathon bombings during the show. we will talk about that. >> are some credit cards better protection then others. we have tips about how to keep yourself safe while you shop and what you should do if you do get hacked. and who is better at baby talk, oh, baby, baby. i don't think the answer is so surprising here but big difference between mom and dads response to kids may not be what you are expecting.
7:31 am
>> i'm not a big believe inner baby talk. >> why is not. >> i don't know. >> it just comes out. >> when you see a baby you talk like that. i can't help myself. big day tomorrow. >> um-hmm. >> party leaders, has the election approach tomorrow america heads to the poles for midterm elections. >> republicans on the attack attacking the president in a final push to motivate voters while democrats send out their biggest stars. lets talk about this with brett bear. it just, i get the sense i don't hear anybody talking about this except on news channels, i bet the turnout will be low. i had hate to say that, hi brett. >> mike and alex you are probably right. it will be historically low. midterms are not races that really draw out people but both sides are trying to affect that by their turnout operations. there in pennsylvania you saw governor christie and
7:32 am
president obama, you know, really focused on trying to get out the vote for both sides in that governor's race and i think that is where it will turn. you are right. it is not being talked about a lot of different places. >> i was kind of surprised that the president came here. some candidates didn't want him to campaign for them but he decides to come to pennsylvania even though tom wolf is quite a bit in the polls. >> that is perhaps why the president came to philadelphia, because tom wolf has such a lead in the polls that president obama's presence really wouldn't hurt tom wolf and if anything might fire up people in the democratic base to come out for him. on the republican side tom corbett brings in chris christie, who says one more half take rally with which barack obama in pennsylvania and corbett will win with double digits. i'm not sure if that is true but there is a sense it is about who you get out. >> for corbett if he loses
7:33 am
won't he be the the first incumbent to lose since 1970. >> 1970 in pennsylvania and that is a big deal. beyond what happens there in pennsylvania, in the governing of that state, it factors in nationally because in washington they look towards 2016, and the governor who is control a swing state, a state that is going to be powerful, to the presidential election, that party has a little bit of an advantage. >> that is for sure. come on people lets go to the polls. brett, we will talk to you. >> there you go, mike. >> come on, it is important. you cannot complain if you don't vote. lets get back to this breaking news out of germantown. police tell us they are looking for that with man 22 years old, teresa freeland gater. she was last seen being forced in the car of the 100 block of west colt or street last night. police say a man forced her in the dark colored sedan before driving off with her.
7:34 am
at this point we do not have anymore details than. that we have a crew heading to the scene. the we should be there in just a few minutes and bring you the rest of the information. >> all right. 7:34. hi, sue. >> it is a chilly morning out there but i can tell you it is not as windy as it was yesterday. we have had sunglasses to the bus stop buddy, ensemble this morning. his mom made him wear a hat too but it is cold. temperatures mostly in the 30's. some have inched in the 40's. in your weather by numbers we will go to an eight out of ten, sunshine all day for as long as the day last because those days are getting shorter. but we will have a few gusty breezes, and still have that freeze warnings for lancaster county until 8:00 o'clock and points west of there as well. 39 degrees. we will see sun and clouds out there. 7 miles an hour wind and a high later on of 58 degrees, again, some breezes out there but not as windy as yesterday. tonight we are down to 44.
7:35 am
partly cloudy skies. it will be on the chilly side. that is your fox cast from the weather authority seven day forecast coming up, bob kelly is here right now. >> sue, good morning everybody. monday morning a little lighter than normal on some of the roadways but here in cherry hill, new jersey southbound lanes of 295 stacked up from 70 all the way down through that 42 through construction zones. we are starting off with a jam in cherry hill. roosevelt boulevard southbound right at holmes circle the old nazareth hospital, penny a pack circle watch for a crash and then that inner drive the the further north we will go up in the north east that rocky road surface they have been redoing the repaving. we have about 30 minute delays because of overhead wire problems. some of the other regional rails had a rough go. cold weather catches some of those older trains by surprise and we had ten to 15 minutes across the board on some regional rail lines. we had an earlier morning crash because of the sun glare on the schuylkill this morning right here near conshohocken.
7:36 am
they have cleared that off to the side but we have a half an hour trip into downtown. mike, back over to you. 7:35. boy, this murder trial really captured the nation, it took place right here in our own backyard. now it has been turned into a film, that premiere tonight in philadelphia. we will talk to someone very close to this crime and get her take on a film called fox catcher. chris rock upset ago lot of people this morning after talking about the boston marathon bombings and freedom tower on saturday night live? why he says he wasn't joking about terrorism. today is national sandwich day so is what your favorite? kathy says her favorite sandwich is ham and cheese with mustard and chips. tell think says any song witch is good as long as some than was buying. tweet us with the fox 29 good day and show us your sandwich. we will share it on the show and we will
7:37 am
7:39 am
7:40 am
7:39. pretty nice day today. >> on this monday morning. >> did you catch chris rock on snl over the weekend. his mono log made a few people pretty upset. >> well, he made jokes in connection to some pretty serious subjects. we're talking about 9/11 and boston marathon bombings. here's some of it. >> you can train for a year, you finally get to the finish line and somebody screams run. >> they should change the name from the freedom tower to the never going in there tower because i'm never going in there. there is no circumstance that will ever get me in that building. what do they have, does this building duck. what are they thinking? who is the corporate sponsor,
7:41 am
target. >> so, rock did say at one point he was not mocking 9/11 but he wanted to say there are no safer days because america commercializees everything. >> so later in the show he did a sketch about a isis militant trying to get money on the show, shark tank. his appearance, of course, has caused backlash on social media he got a lot of tweets and i'll show so later in the show. get on twitter right now, is it too much. >> too soon. >> that is what he is known for outlandish, shocking humor. so listen in. are you friendly after you have a cup of coffee. >> yes, you are. >> hang on, i probably need another one. you why want to hang out with people who start their day with a warm drink, it doesn't have to be coffee. and jen fred has the toys you won't be able to find back black friday, should we head to the stores right now. >> absolutely, i will tell you what is on sale but most
7:42 am
funnies watching joey try to make all this stuff work because it never works when it comes to live tv, so yeah because[ female announcer ] it you get sick, you can't breathe through your nose...
7:44 am
suddenly you're a mouthbreather. well, put on a breathe right strip and instantly open your nose up to 38% more than cold medicines alone. so you can breathe and sleep. shut your mouth and sleep right. breathe right.
7:45 am
