>> he does now. >> there must be 150 tiles in his desk all balled up. we'll get a shot later. but look at this. so couple of giants fans are going to be in here sunday night making fun of the fact that the eagles have never won a superbowl. zero's they're holding up. believe it or not, drc is one of them. uh-huh, like he helped us out. we'll talk more about that. and what we're supposed to wear to sunday night's game. >> that's right. different color. >> different clotter. >> usual eagles green. >> that's right. >> hello, sue. >> good morning. >> we had dress code today apparently, all showed up in the orange and the black. how about big green nine for us today? i guess that's eagles green. because of the sunny skies and the seasonable temperatures, now, it will be cooler than yesterday. but yesterday was warmer than normal. so, there is bus stop buddy, in his flyers jersey. little sweater underneath. specially in the suburbs, where temperatures are in the 40's, to get started, in the city we're hearing 53 degrees,
7:01 am
sunrise happening at 7:05 in a few minutes, 9-mile per hour wind out of the west. 68 degrees, our high, later on today, just as sunny, but not as windy, as it was yesterday, and then, tonight, we're down to about 48 degrees in the city, even colder in the suburbs. so it will be indeed chilly night. but there are some changes in our weekend forecast, so stay tuned for that, in the seven day, coming up right now it is traffic time. this report starts out on route 30, eastbound, past reese ville road. we have reports of an accident out there around the downingtown area. in the accident on route 422, approaching trooper, the eastbound part of 422, well, thank goodness that's cleared up. but still slow going around there. the accident on the schuylkill westbound onramp from south street, that's cleared up, as women, but it is the schuylkill. so it is still slow. al next. >> 70:00; the ebola virus turns deadly in the united states. >> yep, and now another man is rushed to texas hospital, with ebola-like symptoms yesterday
7:02 am
afternoon. thomas dawn can died yesterday while receiving treatment in texas. his body will be cremated. dozens of people came in contact with duncan, will be monitored for 21 days. yesterday dallas sheriff deputy who went into an apartment where duncan stayed was taken to the hospital. so, doctors cents are testing sheriff michael for the virus. >> his son logan says his dad woke up with stomach pains and checked himself into the hospital as a precaution. >> one of the first responders there, he's in the apartment maybe half hour at. that will we were told by him and other federal officials that he didn't come in contact with duncan at all. he was at the hospital. >> duncan had been at the hospital four days before that deputy sheriff went into his apartment. well the apartment where he is visiting his fiancee. so doctors say, his chance of being infected with ebola, very minimal. so the beloved dog after nursing assistant infected with ebola in spain has been
7:03 am
euthanized. theresa romero, seen her with her pet, x caliber is the dog's name, became the first person in europe affected with the virus, seized the dog, euthanized it to much protest in her neighborhood. worried he would spread the virus, romero the nurse remains in stable condition in that madrid hospital. >> and here at home, ems companies are reviewing protocol to make sure they're prepared for whatever may come our way. to fox 29 us a lauren johnson live at cooper university hospital in camden with this. good morning, lauren. >> hey, good morning to you, alex. so yesterday, convention kick off infectious disease convention over in philadelphia at the convention center. doctors cents from all over the country getting together put their heads together about public health challenges, such as ' bowl a but here across the bridge in camden, at cooper hospital, em some director rick hong says news of the first case of ebola diagnosed on american soil hits close to home for all of us. he says there is fear involved. but he and the rest of us have to trust the system in place.
7:04 am
cooper hospital is advising two dozen other agencies in jersey on how to best prepare for ebola patient. he space a person suspected of having ebola comes into the hospital, they are immediately placed in isolation. ems crews also on high alert in case they're transporting infected patients overall hong says they're not doing anything too different here. he says medical professionals should be reviewing their policies, procedures, education and awareness, most important right now. and other medical professionals, say geography is reason to be on high alert. >> in new jersey isn't a region -- it is an area where there are a lot of airports around us, people coming in every day. we foe for a fact when they get inside the country their temperatures are not being taken as of this time. my understanding is that's changing. so the concern is that we have a three week period now, where we haven't had heightened alert inside our airports, in new jersey, region where people come from west after, a
7:05 am
people that travel from europe, who may have come in contact. so, it is cents a concern. not as large in the south jersey region, as it is in north jersey or in the philadelphia area. but, i mean, we have a concern down here, as women. >> so starting saturday, five international airports, including three close to us, jfk and new york, dullos, dc, newark, liberty, will add extra layering of screening to catch travelers who may be caring that disease. mike, alex, it could be tough because of the 21 day incubation period. >> this will still be hard for doctors cents to track down. >> because duncan didn't -- the man who died, didn't have a fever when he came off that plane. he developed it later. if those five airports should cover 94% of anybody coming in from west africa. still 6%. >> all of this couches as federal officials about to launch new screening program for many passengers entering the us. >> let's get down to doug luzader over at dullos international in virginia, hi,
7:06 am
doug. >> reporter: good morning, guys. yes, this is one of those five airports being targeted here. if passengers are arriving from specific countries, in west africa, they will have to go through additional screening. travelers at us airports may be used to all kind of screening protocols already. but this will soon be the reality for some, kind of temperatures screenings already taking place overseas, to prevent the spread of ebola. us officials are targeting five airports, that they hope will account for the vast majority of travelers arriving from three countries in west africa. if any travelers are found to either have a fever, or have history of contact with ebola, then the on site centers for disease control and prevention public health officer, will further inched view that individual. >> these casino of precautions cents which include asking passengers about their health history, might have done
7:07 am
little good in the case of thomas eric duncan, who died yesterday in a texas hospital. he was the first person to be diagnosed here in the united states with ebola. having recently arrived from liberia. he was not showing symptoms as he passed through airports, and would likely not have had a fever at the time. his family members meantime remain in quarantine. and a texas sheriff's deputy who had served them with a court order, now being hospitalized himself with posse bowl a symptoms. >> they had not had contact with the patient. but family members, they had also been inside the apartment. >> we have unique capability, that nobody else has. >> and president obama at the pentagon talking about the military response in west africa. and the effort to stop ebola at its source. at its source, now, one thing to keep in mind here, not talking about direct flight from liberia to the united states. these are connections cents. so the department of homeland security has to figure out where these people have originated from, even if their
7:08 am
flight isn't necessarily coming from those three countries, in question, in west africa. and, you know, mike, i think i heard you mention this earlier, it is that incubation period. that's the real concern here. it is not that somebody steps off the plane and has a bad fever. it is cents that they have no symptom at all at that point. >> right. >> yet they still go onto infect. >> do you know if europe's airports are doing this yet? >> there have been some, some airports, in europe, that are doing this kind of screening. and of course we're seeing those kind of temperature guns being used also in countries in west africa like liberian where they are trying to stop it at the source. but just one layer of protection, no guarantee. >> try anything. >> many say one layer, i mean, they are saying this was an estimated 150 people a day will be affected by. >> this so not a whole mass group of people necessarily. >> not huge, no, 59% of them through just looking at five specific airports. but it is just one more thing that they're kind of throwing at the wall here, to try to
7:09 am
crackdown on. >> yes, it is difficult. doug, we'll check with you tomorrow. check with philadelphia international airport about 6,000 people come in on international flights every day in the philly international. no direct flights west after, a but you can get of course from west africa, but have to go through europe normally, paris, brussels, london, main airports, because that's where us air and america, famed airline now. they come in. so could you get here from west after cam just got to stop in one of the european airports, but we're in the going to have the temperature guns here. >> wonder if they'll expands it, though in the future? >> might have to. >> beyond those five airports? >> 7:09. >> police are trying to figure out who wrote racist slur overnight on high school in center sit. >> i yes, the graffiti found on halahan catholic girls high school on north 19th street. crews have already removed the slur from the building, police are looking at surveillance video, to see if they can track down who did it. school will be open as scheduled this morning. and, skyfox over the scene

7:11 am
here for day two this morning, and what may have seemed like sad but simple open and shut case to anybody following this, this one shows that criminal trials are often not so quick and easy to decide for those who get more than the quick little minute second updates that we're doing on tv and radio. but see, here, all of the evidence, and every witness, and that is the jury. also, on their minds, heavily for sure, is a man's life. because this is potential death penalty case. >> this is very serious case. and i think it is an indication that the jersey looking at the evidence carefully, and going through, that and we would expect that in this type of case. >> jersey pretty tough business. but i think it will be a matter that's going to have to be resolved one way or the other. i think there will be some interesting arguments, about this case. >> and, so mike, you and everybody else probably surprised because it is rare that jurist also go beyond the dinner hour, to deliberate.
7:12 am
usually, they give some indication that they're close, and that's why they don't go home and restart the next day. but, as a man without a law agree, or any legal experience decided to represent himself, obviously has give then jury something more than open and shut case, to think about, six hours and counting now. >> yes. fool for a client and fool for being the lawyer. absolutely right. 7:12. thank you, steve. pennsylvania governor tom corbett and challenger tom wolf went head-to-head in a final debate. >> two candidates taking on wide range of issues including taxes, and pay equity and education. listen. >> reporter: when he says 14,000, or 27,000 teachers were laid off, 14,000 of those occurred in the prior administration. today, if you look at state spending, money from the taxpayers of pennsylvania, we're at the highest level ever in the history of pennsylvania. >> governor corbett does not want to take responsibility for making the cut for setting priorities that would cut funding for education. yes, funding was cut from the
7:13 am
federal government. but that doesn't really keep leader from making tough decisions cents. the responsible was tough budget. the responsible was his. responsibility for setting priority was his. and the fact we're still down in the classroom -- >> so far wolf is leading in the polls as much by 17 points. got month to go. but both candidates will be getting a big push by two presidential hope fills. former secretary every state, hillary clinton, will be in our city today stomping for wolf, while new jersey governor chris christie, come across the river supporting tom corbett. and here we go again, off duty police officer, fatally shoots a 18 year old during a chase in st. louis. bridges up ferguson, doesn't it, sparking loud protests cents in the area. according to officials, the officer noticed three african-american men in the street who ran away when they spotted the officer. he chased after the man. he believed was caring a

weapon. there was an altercation between the two. and the man fired at least three shots at the officer. that's what they're reporting. the officer returned fire hitting him killing him. the officer was cents not hurt. a crowd gathered immediately to protest and damaged a police car, but no one was arrested. and, a clash continues istanbul. protest calling for government action against isis on their border with syria. >> protesters throwing molotov cocktails at police setting armor police vehicle on fire. see it there. one mask man fired live ammunition into the air. police responded to the violence with tear gas. the protesters are demanding turkey offer more hope to kurdish forces, struggling to hold onto cabani as syrian town near the turkish bordered. >> would wore fed isis does take it over, could be slut you are almost 10,000 people. questions surrounding north korea kim junk aoun's health as many wondering, if his sister, his younger sister, who is only in her early to's;

7:16 am
came through in the overnight hours yesterday. cooler air, has cents moved in. skies clear. it will really and beautiful day. but watching this low pressure system in the middle of the country l slide down along the front, move up toward us. that will start tomorrow, with some clouds, in the morning, and then in the afternoon, right around 1:00, maybe even before that, we will start to see some showers in the morning we might have some drizzle, in advance of that weather system. but by 4:00 the rain starting to get little heavier. it will be a messy evening rush hour friday. friday's are always bad. >> this one will be a mess. overnight still some rain. saturday morning, still some rain. in fact, some thunderstorms possible early saturday morning, by 8:00 it is still raining pretty heavily. but don't rule out saturday, just postpone your plans, if you can, until maybe after 12:00 noon. it does look like it will clear out after that. and it looks right now like the daytime hours of sunday will be okay.

the ebola outbreak. one of those doctors works at emory hospital in atlanta. where ebola patients were first brought to the united states. he joins us in just a few minutes. you may have graduated from college, but do you need an agree in love, or a mrs agree? some of the worse people to take out on a date are alum my from our area. we will tell you which schools made that list. >> oh, no. and popular outfit choice for teen girls banned from one school legs action are so out, girls. but it is how the school told the girls that has some people very upset this morning, it is exactly 7:30. >> i like leggings. >> i do, too. why would they ban them? >> then maybe they're too tight? >> nobody talking to bus stop buddy, they're happy he's flyered up, with the flyers jersey on, no legs action, just just cackies. forty's, 50's, cooler start this morning, than it was
7:31 am
yesterday at this time. weather by the numbers though nine, because even though it is cooler, it is perfect for october the ninth today. seasonable temperatures, plenty of sunshine, not as windy as it was cents yesterday. we have a 9-mile per hour winds out of the west right now, plenty of sunshine, 53 degrees, sunrise happened at 7:05, so, 68 degrees is our high today. breezes i, cooler than yesterday, not as winnie, and 48 degrees tonight, with just a few clouds. so that's a look at your weather. traffic not so good. in fact, we have skyfox over the story. we told but last time, it is happening in bunks county, right now, what happened was it was a paratransit bus, not a school bus, that was involved in a accident, with the horse, that's right, paratransit bus and horse, it happened on cold spring creamery road, this is in doylestown, you see the bus has cents now been hooked up to a tow truck, so they're in the process of get that bus out of there. several injuries we believe have been reported, we'll have
7:32 am
much more on this story coming up. that's the latest this, again, in doylestown, creamery road. that's a look at your traffic, guys. >> what a mess. >> 7:32, talking about it all morning, the ebola virus turns deadly in the united states, thomas duncan died yesterday morning while receiving treatment in texas. >> and see what happened yesterday afternoon, dallas sheriff's deputy who went into the apartment where duncan was visiting with friends, and his fiancee, he's in the hospital, as precaution, well, joining us right now, doctor craig smith, member of the infectious diseases cents society of america. they're rapid communications cents task force, again like we mentioned, five years ago they planned this infectious disease convention for philadelphia. lucky to have you. >> thank you. >> so live in atlanta? >> yes. >> work for the cdc? >> no. >> that's where the cdc is in connection with emory. >> let's talk about we realize the man from liberia died yesterday. and then in the afternoon somebody who went into his
7:33 am
apartment, sheriff's deputy says oh, i'm feeling kind of ill. >> he wasn't wearing protective gear. >> when he went in the apartment which is kinds of surprising. >> that is surprising, i mean, the original apartment has already been cleaned by the maas mat team, shouldn't be any risk in the originalment apartment, but any exposure, this is high mortality disease, and it presents as flu symptoms. if one person walked in the middle of flu outbreak, you wouldn't be able to at the time the difference. >> walking in, listen, we have to quarantine you in case, you know, got upset or something, they had police officers with him. so if he goes in to this apartment, now, duncan, the man who died yesterday, has cents been out of the apartment for four days, right? so come back here for a second. if this sheriff's deputy goes in there, simply touches surfaces, he can't get it, would he? >> that would be very strange, these cyrus cents, simple vie advises, just to stay alive on the surface for days and days
7:34 am
within unusual. >> how long does it normally last, snores. >> probably hours, 24 hours, something like that, until the secretions cents dry out and the virus dries out and dice. >> because we are talking about sweating, vomiting may possibly have been there? >> those are the things that would take longer because they're thicker and don't dry out as much. but not like something like we talk about staff infection. a lot of those will stay on the surface for weeks. virus also very short. and they're easy to kill, usually with disinfectant. >> seems like this guy doesn't have it, but wanted to be sure he got checked out. let's talk about the airports now, can you stop it by simply going, taking little gun, pointing it to up your head, taking your temperature? >> well, interesting thing is the incubation period about a week. so if you get on the plane, in africa, and you don't have a fever, then you get off in atlanta, and that 24 hours or whatever, you supply developed a fever. so i think you need both screenings. that's what they've done. >> but could you have landed in at lan tax left the airport, an hour later get a
7:35 am
fever? >> right. that's always a problem. but what they do, if the custom places are 94% of the africans arrive in the united states, is where they're doing exit exams. now, after that, also given a paper saying this is the disease, watch out for the symptoms. if you go to the doctor, give him this piece of paper, remind anybody that you've been to africa, or you've been with someone who has been to africa. >> also getting contact information, too. >> absolutely. >> to touch base. >> registered in the books so if there is any question, then they can go find him very rapidly. >> so you have all of these experts just down the street here at the convention center absolutely. >> what are you talking about? what's the biggest fear there will be like ten cases, we got pan nick this country? >> probably the biggest, just the panic. because, you know there is virus has been known for 40 years not unknown virus, it has been contained in the past. what we didn't have is
7:36 am
vaccines or medicine because it was so short you didn't have time to fest for anything. >> nigeria has done good job every killing it. >> yes. >> let's do what they did. what about sending 3,000 of our troops over this try to kill it at its source. aren't they at risk when they come home. >> at risk being, but all sold remembers trained in biological chemical warfare. they shouldn't be at any more risk, they had the basic training. >> don't touch anybody. >> you don't touch anybody unless you're already, you know, controlled, it looks leak the nurse in spain got in trouble when she took off her protective gear, she broke the protocol. so that as long as you follow the rules, you are okay. >> doctor, good to meet you. thank you, enjoy philadelphia. terminally ill woman taking her fate into her own hands, i know you know this story by now, but we haven't had time to get your opinion on it. she chose november 1st, to die. because she has this brain tumor that is out of control. would you do that? what do you think about this storey? would you ever
