philadelphia this is fox fox 29 news at 6:00. >> right now, all eyes are on the radar as our weather authority looks for some storms popping up. here's life look at the center city skyline. a gray muggy day. and now parts of our area under a flash flood warning. good evening and thanks for joining us. i'm iain page. >> i'm dawn timmeney. let's get right over to chief meteorologist scott williams. scott? very tropical in nature this evening, dawn and iain. certainly we've been monitoring ultimate doppler right now. and you can see behind me as we move into southeastern sections of montgomery county, also, northeast, philadelphia county, this particular tracker moderate to heavy around willow grove the abington area. the national weather service issued a flash flood warning for this highlighted area until 8:15 local time. ponding on the read ways, a wet commute. folks trying to get out and about and get home from work deal with some of these tropical downpours that we have across

the area. not raining everywhere but where it is raining, slow moving showers and thunderstorms right now in particular right along the pennsylvania turnpike as we move through sections of chester county, also, montgomery county, and bucks county seeing most of that heavy rainfall right now across the area. some locations have already picked up one to two or 3-inches out of this system. that continues to just rain itself out. moving through sections of montgomery county. coming up we'll talk about the heaviest rainfall expected later this week with this very unstable pattern. and thank you scott. you can always keep track of your weather in your area just go to our website myfoxphilly.com. click on the weather tab and there you will find life ultimate doppler radar 24/7. >> now to developing story in philadelphia. tonight. even darker questions about the shooting death of a driver in the city's feltonville section. police are investigating it as a road rage attack and tonight, fox 29 uncovers possible ties to

a notorious local motorcycle gang. fox 29's dave schratwieser is live at philadelphia police headquarters with todays developments. dave? >> reporter: iain, 34 year old christopher fields a ranking member of the wheels of soul motorcycle club is behind bars night charged with murder after a confrontation with a driver and bikers turned ugly. >> president around anywhere at the headquarters of the wheels of soul motorcycle club in west philadelphia, members had few words to say about one of their own now being charged with murder after a road rage incident on the boulevard saturday night. >> as far as we know he's a good kid. >> members confirm that 34 year old christopher fields is a 1% tower with the club had it's roots at 61st and mark. he's charged with gunning down 43 year old todd riley after the bikers surrounded riley's car after he let them pasta red light. >> wheels of soul members about 20, 25 of them circled his

vehicle. then got more heated. one of the member got off his bike and fired several times striking him and killing him. >> reporter: undidn't tide member says field had some issues and said he newing in about saturday night's confrontation and the shooting. police say it turned ugly fast. >> then the motorcycles actually circled around him and bad blood and then the shooting occurred. it's really a case of road rage. >> his girlfriend suffered a bullet wound. police are trying to identify other member of the wheels of soul who took part in the confrontation. once again, police warned against engaging in road rage disputes. >> small little argument ended up in this individual getting shot and killed in front of his girlfriend it's not worth it. >> reporter: now police did recover the murder weapon at the scene and a set of colors from the wheels of soul ranging member of the soul told mow this

afternoon that there are several different versions of what happened out there on the boulevard saturday night and he believes those will come out as this case moves towards trial. iain? >> all right. dave, thank you. a guilty plea in deadly hit-and-run in upper darby back in january. 58 year old ernest marks is scheduled to be sense tensed in august. police say he hit 69 year old are you char patison and his dog and then took off. both paterson and the dog died at the scene. >> some tense moments in wayne this morning. a woman says she was followed by a man on mountain bike as she was walking her dogs down popular trail. that incident was reported at old eagle school road and devon park drive in tredyffrin township. police there say this incident was a false alarm but they believe the 911 caller had may 12th attempted assaults in the same spot fresh on her mind. police released a sketch of the that suspect a couple of week ago and they have received numerous calls from scared walkers and runners. they say the woman who called them this morning did the right

thing. >> she had, um, for thought and information and she decided not to take the risk where perhaps another days past she would ha have. so use common sense. carry a phone. walk in pairs in that area. >> police say they found the man on the mountain bike and talked to him and they called this morning's incident a misunderstanding. say that man is not connected in any way to the attack back in may. skyfox over a fire in philadelphia's nicetown section. it broke out on the 1600 block of west butler treat this afternoon. firefighters say the heaviest flames came from the second floor. one person was taken to item poll hospital. the cause of that fire still under investigation. >> actor tracy morgan remains in critical but stable condition after a weekend car crash. a spokesperson says that morgan's fiance' is by his side as the comedian recovers from several broken bones and tonight police say the truck driver accused of causing the crash that killed one of morgan's

traveling companions and injured several others may not have slept for more than 24 hours before the accident. that driver is now facing multiple charges. >> and happening now, protests outside the union league in center city philadelphia. they want governors christie and corbett to know that they are not happy at all about cuts to education in our region. fox 29's bruce gordon live outside the union league tonight where the two leaders are expected to appear later tonig tonight. bruce. >> reporter: that's right, dawn. governor christie in philadelphia this evening and his role as the head of the republican governors association head lining a fundraiser for tom corbett's gubernatorial re-election bid. protesters were here earlier this afternoon. they have long since diss perked. the rain has begun to fall. but during a brief and noisy protest they made clear they're not real happy with either corbett or christie. >> hey, hey, ho, ho -- >> demonstrators who packed broad street in front of the union league had plenty to say about both christie and corbett. the loudest theme, education

funding cuts. protesters say corbett has destroyed public schools in philadelphia. >> governor corbett is doing nothing but cutting our budget and setting our schools -- shutting our schools down. >> governor christie was asked about his support for corbett spending time and money on a candidate seen as vulnerable come november. tom wolf easily won the democratic gubernatorial pry march last month and leads corbett in early general election polling. >> you have to vote and support the people that you believe deserve and have earned your support and i believe that based upon his record over the last 3.5 years tom corbett merits my support. >> christie was in camden to tour schools in that be leaguer system. the state took over this kiss trick about a year ago and things have improved but he admitted there is a long way to go on numerous fronts. >> camden has to be a safe city. people have to know that their children can get twenty seven indication in the city of camden and there have to be more jobs available in the city of camden more economic development.

>> the governor was asked about the potential for the inform b sixers to move their pack toy facility and offices from philadelphia to the camden waterfront. it's not only good because it will additional tax revenue and other things and business for the city of camden, but also, for the image of the city of camden to show that the philadelphia sixers one of the major sports team in the region has enough confidence in the strides we're talking about ma making here that they are willing to invest significantly in the city of camden. >> on another subject, governor christie has been hammered boy critic over his decision to ignore massive pension payments in an effort to try and balance the state budget. lawsuits have been threatened but christie said today, there is no plan b. he has no plan b and nor has he heard anything viable from anyone else. he said he did not want to ignore those pension payments, but says he had to expect much more on that issue in the days and weeks ahead. iain. >> bruce, thank you very much. detectives are hoping to

identify a man wanted for several burglaries in washington square and logan circle. he's been caught on surveillance cameras take a look. police say he used a crowbar to get into a home on the 100 block of south 13th street last month. apple computer an tablet were stolen. similar items valued at thousands of dollars were taken from other locations as well. if you recognize this man, call police. >> it's going to be a long road but progress is being reported in the work to get theism 495 bridge reopened to traffic. officials say they are almost done removing a massive mound of dirt which is suspected of causing support columns to tilt. they say it is the first step in getting the bridge repaired and reopened to traffic. transportation officials caution that process could take weeks if not months. the bridge was closed last monday after the problem was discovered during an emergency inspection. traffic has been redirected through wilmington on to i-95. as the item which are heats up you may be tempted to jump in and take a dip somewhere cool.

but city officials are warning people to stay clear of rivers, lakes, creeks and streams. mayor nutter was joined by members of the philadelphia fire department and the mother of brandon boyle in rhawnhurst. they were there as part of a new safety program called operation stay on shore. the water may be beautiful but it can be dangerous. brandon's mother knows first hand after losing her son. >> and i'm a little bitter because if somebody would have stood here last year and did this, i can promise you my kid would be here. but they didn't. and so now i'm stuck with the one crying. >> the new program is designed to ensure that all residents especially young people are aware of the dangers posed by the areas waterways. federal judge who struck down pennsylvania's gay marriage ban says there's no proof same sex marriage destroys families. >> hundreds celebrated that historic decision last month. but now the judge who made it is

just minutes after that historic decision was made last month. during the harrisburg radio show today, judge john jones the third responded to his critics including a bishop from the roman catholic diocese of pittsburgh who said same sex marriage quote ear roads the strength of families ". judge jones says there's no proof that same sex marriage weakens or destroys family. pennsylvania's gay marriage began was put in place back in 1946. >> friend sets of twins are about to graduate from the same local school. they're all close and not just for their own twin. neck week their time together comes to an end. >> fox 29's jennifer joyce spent the day at william tennet high school in bucks county getting to know these twins. ♪ >> reporter: this room of students has something in common. well, they have a few things in common. but the most unique tidbit were you this crew of william tepp net high school seniors they're

cloud cover, the warm and muggy conditions and also heavy rain. ultimate doppler right now in southeastern montgomery county, northeast philadelphia county, tracking some of that heavy rain around willow grief, abington, the feasterville area. as we take a look at the national weather service issued flash flood warning you can see that heavy rain not a whole lot of movement over the last half hour or so out of that cell in southeastern montgomery county northeastern sections of philadelphia county. a few pockets of showers around center city. but most of the heavy rain has been north and west of the city moving through sections of chester county and also central and southern sections of montgomery county. you can see that flash flood warning until eight confidential 15. watching out for ponding on the roadways so if you encounter a flooded street, turn around, don't drown. find an alternate route as we continue to watch this heavy downpour one to 2-inches per hour out of that particular cell that's not moving a whole lot.

also, we have some aerial flood advisories for sections of york and lancaster county also until 6:30 aerial flood advisory for southeastern sections of montgomery county for that very heavy rain that we continue to watch. once again most of the heavy rain is north and west of philadelphia this evening. take look at some of the rainfall totals over the last 12 hours or so. you can see from downingtown, toward norristown, whitemarsh, horsham, over an inch of rainfall out of that system that continues to just dump that very half fifty five rain. as we talk a little bit about this evening, stays muggy just keep the umbrellas handy if you're stepping outdoors. slow moving showers a few thunderstorm but not anticipat anticipating severe thunderstorms for tomorrow, we'll do it again. occasional showers really any time throughout the day and then as we notify throughout the remainder of the week, it stays unsettled not a complete wash out. but if you are caught underneath one of those slow moving showers and storms it will put down heff vo amounts of rain.

76 degrees right now. humidity close to 80%. 82 degrees. that was the high temperature today. sun sets close to 8:30. 77 degrees in atlantic city as well as millville. mid 70s in reading. low 60s right now in the pocono mountains. so we'll this unsettled pattern throughout the evening and also during the day tomorrow. by midnight still a few scattered showers north and we west. tomorrow morning for the morning commute watching out for a few pockets of showers and storms. and look at tomorrow afternoon and evening. we'll do it yet again with some heavy rain and some of that could drop a couple of inches of rain. that seven day forecast showing 85 degrees tomorrow. and then we keep the rain gear handy throughout the week and then clear thing out just in time for the upcoming weekend. >> at least your timing is on the weekend part of things. >> we like. >> thank you, scott. >> the eagles you'll love this. offensive linemen ran up a dinner bill at a restaurant on friday night. i hope it was the taj mahal. it was in philadelphia, though.

the. in fl. they signed all of their draft pick another day of ota's for the eagles. the practice was getting players mr. familiar with each other that's been the work in progress for this eagles team. now one of the new players getting adjusted to his new team would be safety malcolm jenkins. it's never easy to go to new team. the eagles signed jenkins as free agent after he played with new orleans but that's what these camps are really for. getting to know your new team. >> it's about rules and once you learn the rules the defense gets easy for you. lot of the calls get off of today me coach it's been easy to grasp. >> we're still early but the expectations in this town for this football team have always been high but i think higher than they've been in maybe 10 years. do you hear that? i mean even just among the players i think the expectation is high. i don't think, um, our fan base or the city has a higher standard than we do. i think we're all on the same

page. >> well, 10 wins minimum guys. some of the eagles players went out for a big dinner on friday night. this is just not any dinner. there is a ritual in the nfl that the top rookie takes other players out for big dinner. it's year late but the eagles first round pick of last year lane johnson took his other offensive linemen out for dinn dinner. well here's the bill. just under $18,000 for maybe seven or eight guys there. not too bad, right? but a couple of highlights of the bill. five, 2-ounce glasses of louie the 13th came to just under $1,400. a body of screaming eagle cabernet in nappa. $3,500 that leaves another $1,300 for drinks and a tip jason kelce one of the players at the dinner. and it was just unbelievable. let me just give you -- i gave the highlight of the screaming e guilty 3500. two thus sand five. you could have done better than that. $482 tip on 15,000.
