and what you see out there is wet weather in the nation's capital. tom is going to give us the test. he said it was going to rain. here it is, tom. >> it's here. i'm surprised you did not say vick-tory. we have had rain that came in late last evening. the moving color on the screen is rain. passinshowers across much of virgin, district of columbia and maryland, advancing southwest to northeast. and it's going to be with us throughout the rest of the day. right now we're in the upper 40s throughout most of th region to near 50 in washington and near the bay. mountains of western maryland, west virginia, mid-40s now. and they he had rain there too overnight. and more on the way. this stretches all the way back to the gulf coast and an area of lopressure coming through will bring in perhaps more moderate downpours by this afternoon into this evening. between now and then, periods of rain. highs mid-50s. how is the traffic?

finish what i started. >> reporter: meanwhile, across the county, state and federal agents carried boxes from the tick tock liquor store. who officers and five others were indicted on conspireing to commit extortion charges while a third and another man face drug and conspiracy charges. 45-year-old sergeant and 42-year-old kim. those cigarette and luor taxes are a significant source of revenue for the state of maryland and the federal government. in a separate case, athird prince george's cop of woodbridge, virginia has been indict odd gun and cocaine charges. >> i'm outraged. at the disgraceful conduct demonstrated by three of our officers who trnished our badge. >> reporter: with all th arrests made in the last few days, maryland's u.s. attorney had this to say about possible connections. we have yon going right now a series of related corruption

escalators system wide. the baby abandoned by her mother has been named mary. she was left outside a roman catholic church in fairfax county monday morning >> my initial reaction was thank god it was to the church. the baby was found quickly and taken care of mediately. >> reporter: parishioners in fairfax are calling this cute newborn girl a miracle. she was found early sunday morning before mass in this gym bag lying in the grass in front of the church. a parishioner brout her inside, called 911 and the baby received immediate medical attention. >> it's full of loving families and people who care about the community and the family. the mother probably felt it was a place she can trusto have the baby cared for.

>> reporter: while authorities still don't know who the mother is, monday night the priest addressed this gift at the orstep. >> he said the baby doing very well. he named her mary. very appropriate for a catholic church. >> reporter: but what happens to baby mary now? fairfax county departmt of family services says it's up to them to try to find her a home. >> the first step to to find family or kin to take caref the child. if that's not possible, quite often foster care is the way to go. >> i feel wonderful. i really do. there are so many parents out there just waiting to adopt a child. and i know this baby will have a wonderful life with whoever chooses to adopt it. >> family services say that is not the case. they need more adoptive families. it says for every certified foster and adoptive family, four children in the system need a me. there's no telling how long it

will take baby mary to get adopted. it depends mainly on how long she will be here in the hospital. fafax, john schriffin, news 4 today. jay mcdowell kicked a student out of his class for the day after the teenager said that he did not, quote, accept gays. mcdonald was late reprimanded by the school and suspended one day without pay. the issue is now gaining even more attention, though, after a 14-year-old openly gay student from another school defended mcdowell at a school meeting. a teacher whosupport finall stood up and said something where the students say the worst kinds of tngs. >> this video has drawn thousands of views on youtube. they are hosting a community

forum to discuss tolerance and adversary issues. investigators in ohio are fearing the worst after finding a teenage girl gagged and bound in a basement of a nearby home. police believe there's a possibility the 13-year-old sarah maynard's mother, brother, and family friend are all dead after vanishing lt week from their home. she was rescued from 30-ye-old ex convict matthew hoffman, who was arrested and charged with her kidnapping. police are searching a nearby lake for their bodies but so far have not fnd anything. the agency will have open ears to passenger complaints over new airport security measures. janet napolitano said the new pat-down do not violate privacy rights but travellers and pilots complained it is equivale to a public groping and virtual strip search. she said the agency will consider changes based on those complaints.

suspended pending the outcome of the investigation. a story 're monitoring from aruba this morning. a dutch daily newspaper said tourists have found a han jawbone. investigators are trying to determine whether this could be connected to the gnat lee hallway case. kimberly suiters joins us le from the newsroom with more on this. kimberly, good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this eluded investigators since 2005. this latest discovery would be a tremendous breakthrough. the tourists found the bone friday on a beach where gnat lee hallway disappearedfive years ago. van der sloot confessed to dumping the body near that location but changed history so many times. detectives sent the remains to the netherlands forensic institute. police are hopeful they can cay out a successful dna test. van der sloot is in prison facing charge of murdering a peruvian woman.

"washington post" says mega bus will go to richmond, virginia, knoxville, tennessee and raleigh, north carolina. these new routes will run december 15th through january 15th. montgomery county students might soon have to pay to get to and from school. according to the washington examiner, the school board will ask state lawmakers to allow the county to charge students bus fees. board members are considering the fees because of the sagging budget could get a boost from them. right now a 1997 state law forbids it. a man spent two years in prison is suing the carmaker. the minnesota man was sentenced to prison after a crash in 2008 killed three people. he, however, maintained that his camry sped up on its own because of a faulty act accelerator. when the judge reopened the case, prosecutors threw it out. the 2003 camry was not part of the recall and his claim is without merit. today washington archbishop

donald whirl will leave for rome where he will belevated to cardinal. on saturday, pope benedict xvi will elevate him to the college of cardinals. more than 350 people from washington and pittsburgh will travel to rome forhe occasion. some people are already looking to the future. two universities are vying to be the home of the presidential library. university of hawaii and the university of chicago are the two schools in the running so far. right now both schools aren't saying much. a white house spokesman replied, no comment. the city shld expect a huge economic boost. the library in little rock has brought in $1.5 billion and 300,000 annual visitors >> i guess it's like in library terms bidding for the olympics. >> there you go.
