two people found dead inside an apartment building in prince george's county. tonight police believe the suspect may have killed himself. good evening, craig melvin is off tonight. police discovered the bodies of a man and woman at anntpamert buildingnme leyglkanar p aerar 0 this rnmoing.11 in the 22in block of university ard. they believe the suspect later committed suicide. darcy spencer joins us now from langley park with the latest. darcy? >> well, hi. it was initially fire fighters who got the call to come to this apartment building. a report of smoke and fire in the building. once they went inside the apartment they made the discoveries. bodies of twopeople.

man and woman. as you mention they believe the person responsible for the killings may have taken his own life in the district. the police chief says this may have been domestic in nature. >> prince george's county police are investigating a double-murder that happened inside this apartment complex on the 2200 block in langley park. the man responsible may have taken his own life. by jumping from a building in the district. >> it appears the jumper is going to be somewhat related to this case. the case appears to be domestic related. >> police were called to university city apartments for a fire on the stove, this morning, once fire fighters put out the blaze they discovered the bodies of a man and woman in their 20s. police have not yet released their names or said what their relationship i to one another. police are also not saying what their connection is to the man they suspect in the killing. >> the male subject that committed suicide in d.c. actually was the lease/owner at this apartment.

so he committed the murders and fled to d.c. and actua committed suicide. >> the suspected killer found dead after apparently jumping from a construction site in the 1200 block of first between 9:00 and 10:00. the apartment where the bodies were discovered was rented by the man who committed suicide. he has not been identified. police would only say he is in his 50s. back out live, the police are saying, someone from the medical examiner's office arrived within the last several minutes t begin documenting the scene. we're told it is gruesome inside the apartment. and police are going to continue to be here over the next several hours and they are working with d.c. police on this investigation at this point. they don't know what the motive was behind the killings. and also this is the fifth double homicide in prince george's county this year. and darcy spencer, news 4. thank you.

two-alarm fire damaged several office buildings i rockville. it happened at franklin office park on craft branch way. investigators say the fire started on the second floor and spread quickly. it took 75 fire fighters to put out the heavy flames. no one was injured. police are investigating what they're calling a suspicious death in glen burny after the body of an elderly woman was found in a freezer. derek ward has the story. >> police were called after 6:00 friday evening to a ground floor apartment in the 7400 block of ser furnace branch road. >> they located a female deceased inside the residence. >> 83-year-old doris lee cook. homicide investigators were called. they interviewed several family members who told them that the female had been deceased for several weeks. they had placed her in that freezer and that she had been sufferg from various ailments and conditions. >> police say cook lived in the

apartment with relatives. >> the call was received from a family member outside the residence made aware of the situation. >> when i come here and seen what happened i called the authorities. the authorities handled it. >> patrick hoover, the grandson of the woman in the freezer. he says she lived in texas and west virginia fore moving to maryland to live with her two daughters one was mentally disabled. they were all very close. >> they have all lived together, from day one in texas. >> family members and authorities have more questions than answers about doris cook's death. no one is speculating. >> it happened. we are dealing with it. and as a family. we're going to keep dealing with it best we can. >> obviously a tough blow for the family. and regardless of the circumstances of the woman's death or the circumstances of how she was found. the one thing they won't remember is that she was loved by a lot of people. derek ward, news 4. police say it could be days before a cause of death is determined. they're awaiting results from the medical examiner in baltimore. we are hearing from a man who

police say tried to stop a midst of spect in the a crime spree in leesburg yesterday. 49-year-old william spencer accused of robbing a jewelry store, holding a family hostage. stealing their car, and holding an elderly couple hostage. he works near the jewelry store and tried to stop spencer. today he spoke to news 4 about what happened. >> he is walking ahead of me. i have my weapon display. when he saw the police officers he took off. didn't want to hilt anybody else. i simply wanted to detain him. but i ran across my front yard and i cut him off right there. he was right in front of me. i was right at my truck the.er he was athant trf ence oe.th te hgacenheeirn fed allma s ma belianca hrdgun at h.me er sncpes i te eecxpdoec be formally charged monday. police say he has an extensive prior criminal history. president obama returning home

to washington tonight after a trip that took him to russia, italy and africa. during his busy trip questions about the u.s. economic, economy have followed him every step of the way. brian moore reports. >> in ghana, president obama was greeted like royalty before the people before giving a major speech to the parliament. >> this is a new moment of great promise. >> here at home though, the president's approval numbers are slipping. as republicans hammer him and his party on their stimulus efforts. >> they promised you that if you pay for their stimulus, jobs will be created immediately. >> with unemployment now at 9 1/2%, the president is facing pressure to explain results that so far have been modest at best. >> the recovery act was not designed to work in four months. it was designed to work over two years. we also knew that it would take some time for the money to get out the door.

d emergency responders put their skills to the test. they held an exercise to test their response to simulated biological attack. arlington county, fairfax county and federal and local agencies took part in the drill. they used a real but harmless biological agent to enhance realism of the experience. >> garden powder, off the shelf. to protect fruits and vegetables. so a spore just look anthrax, completely harmless. >> notifications went out to nearby businesses and residences to make sure no one was alarmed by the exercise. th rocket man and the piano

as the day goes on. it looks like a pretty nice day. let's talk about what is going on. you can see, yeah, plenty of cloud out there. starting off clear this morning. then the clouds started to roll in. and mostly cloudy. 70 flow. 69. humid conditions. again, temperaturewise. 79 in the district. 80 springfield. and temperatures very uniform. look at the dew points. in some spots. and that is just really, really humid. a bit breezy as well. and digital doppler. one little rain shower. and moving away from southeast washington. and then we have a thunderstorm, two, winchester. bulk of the moisture well to the west of us. the front is now making its way across the ohio valley. along the front we have some severe weather up in pennsylvania with a few tornado warnings as well.

lots of really active weather towards canada. so there is the front right there. you can clearly pick it out. you can see the moisture along the frontal boundary. ahead of the front today. southwesterly wind. brought them that warm weather. temperatures, lower, mid 80s. plus it also brought in the humidity, quite thick out there. now, tonight the front makes its way across the area. bringing us showers and thunderstorms. early tomorrow morning, we start off with mostly cloudy skies. maybe a shower or two. and then as the day goes on. front moves off to the south. high pressure starts to build in. i think we go mostly sunny during the afternoon hours. though the front is coming through tomorrow. temperatures will stay on the warm side. temperatures tomorrow in the generally the mid, possibly, upper 80s. however, notice that the humidity will be dropping behind the front. going to be pretty comfortable out there. then we are going to be watching a little disturbance off to the west monday. looks like it will stay to the south of us. monday, looking for pretty nice weather as well. high pressure down from canada. here is the situation then.
