>> good morning it is 5:00 a.m., friday, march 2. tam is off, jeanette reyes joins us. >> the rain has been falling most of the night, but the storm is getting stronger and could bring potentially destructive winds. >> there are concerns along the jersey shore where there is the threat of flooding and beach 'erosion. we have team cover annual as communities brace for the nor'easter, bob brooks is live along the jersey shore and gray hall is in philadelphia. >> and here safe inside and dry meteorologist david murphy and karen rogers. >> reporter: feel kind of guilty for being inside. >> reporter: i would, but that was me outside for 20 years, have fun guys, come inside and get a weather job. >> reporter: it's wet outside this morning. and cold in the studio. >> reporter: no, no, no, there's rain out there busting through the region and whipping off toward the nornd east.

storm tracker 6 live double scan the heaviest rain highlighted in yellow, pushing away from center city still in northeast philadelphia and areas of bucks county. all the yellow is where the heaviest stuff is. you see a band of it pushing through areas along the atlantic city expressway from atlanti county to cherry hill. getting better pushing off to the east. drying out in the northern and western suburbs, but for now wet out there and we have issues on the roads where it's coming down. a flood watch in effect from philadelphia areas north and west east. there's an area flood advisory that covers adjacent counties. everybody has the potential for rising water on the roads. high wind warning in effec todayhrough morning. for my money this will be the biggest issue of the day. winds gusts 40 to 50 miles per hour or higher. look out for down trees and

wires and debris on the roads as you drive around. at the shore coastal flood watch through times of high tide tonight and tomorrow morning and at least we're looking at moderate and minor flooding up and down the delaware bays and back bays and the oceanfront. we'll track the rain which will changeover to wet snow in a lot of neighborhoods before we are done. we'll talk about the impacts of that coming up. looking live 42 creek road, northbound traffic light volume it's wet out here, you have to watch the wet roads creating problems. here's a new accident on the new jersey turnpike, northbound approaching heights town that's exit 8 the inner roadway is blocked, another accident that popped up in delaware, i-95 northbound in new castle, 4955 jackknifed tractor-trailer blocking two lanes, it's the second jack knifed tractor-trailer already this morning, giving you the idea

it's not a great commute. flashing lights, 309 northbound past welsh road, police on the scene. this causing slowing on this wet morning. northeast philly, we have malfunctioning traffic lights at warbech avenue at the boulevard. jersey shore is expecting to see beach erosion from the storm. bob brooks is live in atlantic city good morning, bob. >> reporter: good morning, matt, i don't envy gray hall i know he is getting soaked. it's not too bad. we're getting a slight mist down here, the winds are calm. one thing i have noticed as we get closer to high tide, the waves are coming up a little bit behind us here, you can see they are starting to go over top of the rocks down here, that's pretty much the most significant thing we've seen. i want to bring up video here. officials are worried about a few things. one of them the flooding. the fire chief in atlantic city is calling this a major street

flooding event this is not going to be nuisance flooding. people will want to keep an eye where there are cars are parked when the high tide comes from this, they may get flooded. move them from low-lying areas. it could go on for quite sometime 2 to 6 high tide cycles. beach erosion, not much anyone can do about that, that's sort of a wait and see kind of thing. they are worried waves could climb as high as 15 feet high because of the storm surge. that's something they have to keep an eye on, for the first time i saw a wave crashing against the wall here. we have foam up over. throughout the morning things starting to pick up we'll keep an eye on it. bob brooks channel 6 "action news." >> the waves a harbinger of

things to come. live on mobile 6 it's worse in the city than it is down the shore as bob alluded to. gray gay is live along the schuylkill expressway with a look at whether a penndot and peco are doing to prepare, good morning, gray. >> reporter: good morning, for you, matt. it's friday and you don't want to wake up to this news it's raining. we're talking about a whole lot of rain, in fact buckets and buckets of rain rain when you gt this morning, be careful because places like the schuylkill expressway ponding can form that can cause accidents. we can tell you for the last couple of days or so, penndot and peco has been keeping a close eye on the system. in particular they are worried about the wind and the rain and david murphy said the possible heavy wet snow. the wind a factor because that could knock down power lines and trees and toss around other debris and cause power outages

that nobody wants to see. penndot said hundreds of workers are on standby in case they are needed. penndot and peco crews say they are prepared for whatever mother nature may bring, they prepare for the storms throughout the year, so they don't wait until the last minute. back out live, we can tell you that peco crews reminding people to be extremely cautious, the wind is what they are worried about. the wind can bring down power lines that can cause problems. if you see the downed power lines in your neighborhood don't approach them, treat them as if they are live, call peco they will come out and repair the problem. live along the schuylkill expressway, gray hall channel 6 "action news." >> i want to take you to philadelphia international airport, we're taking live look here, via sky6 live hd. if you have a flight scheduled for today check it out before you head out. already this morning, two thousand flights have been canceled nationwide. several airlines are offering

customers fee waivers to change travel plans to certain cities. a former philadelphia police officer has been charged with assaulting a handcuffed suspect during an arrest last summer. cell phone video shows police body smminth on to t and into ta swimming pool in kensington. police arrested former officer james yeager yesterday. the fraternal order of police says the video is one sided and does not tell the entire story. the police department fired him this past summer. u.s. attorney and fbi is holding a press conference involvin the guilty verdict against he had pawlowski. the injury convicted him on 47 of 54 charges. he awarded contracts to business owners who funded campaign. in his 4th term he must resign, city council president will take over in the interim. republican leaders of the pennsylvania house is urging the

is pushing pretty much through northeast philadelphia at this point and pinwheeling away from the ac expressway. that's good news there, that road will dry out a little bit or at least drain a little bit. in bucks county and trenton you see the heart of the heavier rain. the stuff to the west not so bad. as we look outside, we have cloudy skies across the region. camera bouncing we're seeing gusts in the 20s and 30s this morning and they will build from there as we get into the afternoon. taking a look at the current temperatures. it's well above freezing, 42 degrees is the temperature in philadelphia. even as we change over to wet snow later on, temperatures will hold on to 40 across the region. we expect wet roads and grassy accumulation if that. winds are gusting into the 20 to 30-mile an hour range even higher than that already in some spots. there you see the win wheeling

friday, taking live look vee extra sky6 live -- via, sky6 lie benjamin franklin parkway. we have strong wind, damaging winds. we'll get wet snow and the afternoon commute will be trickier. >> reporter: even wet roads we're having problems, we're getting reports of wet snowflakes mixing in temperatures in the upper 30s in most of the area. it's not just that the roads are slick, it's just wet, even with the wet roads we have trouble.
