coastal storm heading our way. bringing heavy rain and strong winds and snow to our region. and the rain is expected to arrive this afternoon and stay until tomorrow. john rawlins is live at the jersey shore where they are expecting beach erosion and possible flooding. david murphy is live now with the latest. not bad out there now but the change is coming. clouds are building and still fairly bright. look at satellite and radar and rain is beginning to approach the region and a thin band tha afternoon and the bulk of the rain farther to the west and south getting its act together and late this afternoon and this evening. is when you see the stuff move in. beginning to build gh tide and and the lunar high tide is in play and the lunar and saturday evening high tide. down the shore coast at flood watch minor to moderate flooding

and the back bays and how intense that system is when it starts to form off the coast. flood watches are in effect tonight and into friday night. this is basically from philadelphia to points north and over to the east. upper level support for heavier rain is really in these areas to the north and east and the south and west. although everybody will get rain and we have the high wind warning it has popped up to a warning from reading to philadelphia. wilmington and all of south jersey and the state of delaware. it's still a watch in areas to the areas north and east to lancaster but i think this will all go to a warning by tomorrow. 50 miles per hour gusts are possible and higher than that at the shore. and winter storm watch is in effect and early rain in the poconos and it turns over to snow and a sharp gradient and cutoff for where it is snowing and the poconos will get the bull's-eye 4 to 8 inches of snow

up there. and owner snow could coat the grass. and what comes behind this in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. and not bad for now if you want to get out and get things done for the next several hours. lets go to the jersey shore where businesses and residents are expecting flooding at the jersey shore. and john rawlins is live from ventnor with the latest from there. >> reporter: the forecast is that there could be up to moderate beach erosion here. we shall see, they can be pro caution in their execution. and back bay flooding is expected at least in those areas used to that problem but for now it's still quiet here. >> wide expanses of beach with the gray wintry atlantic breaking on the shore.

and a sedate warm noon hour a good day for a bike ride or walk the beach. but a coastal storm is brewing and the expectation likely whipped by high wind and coastal flooding. for the folks that live here there is a drill to get ready. get items that could be wind driven to a safe place. the greatest impact is from potential flooding and it looks as if the highest tides will be on saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. and we are asking folks to be ready to move vehicles to higher ground. and some of the public works crews are moving sand in front of the dune openings. and if there is a high tide it won't wash through up to the streets. so with forecasts of wind gusts of up to 50 to 60 miles per hour. you can be sure power companies are watching the forecasts for conditions and pseg saying the

teacher in franklinville got an email overnight saying there would be a shooting at that school today. officials were notified and made the choice to close several schools for the day more threatening emails were sent. as we went along in the investigation we sent subpoenas to the email provider and phone companies and established an address in franklinville. myself and other detectives and other officers when out to the residence in franklinville and took into custody a 10-year-old student of this school district. >> the 10-year-old remains in police custody and will receive a psychiatric evaluation. russia's president, vladimir putin, unveiled a new array of nuclear weapons that he claims are invincible and will responsible to any threats from the west.

legislatures in moscow. >> weapons which putin claims renders useless america and others -- >> and russia is -- on the nuclear weapons and committed like the u.s. by reducing the number of nuclear warheads by this year. but that looks invicingly uncertain. >> this morning pennsylvania state attorney, josh shapiro announced multiple arrests in connection with a pawnshop theft ring and details the results of the year long investigation at a news conference. and the owner of two stores, levitt town quick trading post and morrisville pawn. were charged with scheming to buy and resell nearly $700,000 worth of stolen merchandise from thieves known as boosters. the boosters were also charged

in connection with the ring and that the defendants stole the items and sold them to pawnshops to feed their heroin and opioid addiction. and coming up the 90th annual oscars is this sunday and hosted by jimmy kimmel and promises surprises during the show. we'll hear from jimmy next. >> and something that is entertaining theater goers. hear from the stars of the show that was nominated for tonys ten times.

stormtracker 6 live double scan we have some moisture popping up in dover. and cape may maybe a sprinkle. this season particularly heavy precipitation yet and just an early band. the bulk of the rain coming in later today and tonight. as we look outside clouds are building all day and stays that way at the airport. probably no problems flying in and out of philadelphia and even the evening the onset of the initial rain is not all that bad. winds pick up tomorrow though. and at times there will be heavy rain than gives you more of a flying issue. 53 degrees in philadelphia and dry winds ethat strong. there is the thin band of rain and more pronounced rain to the south and west and as we get later into the afternoon and evening we are likely to see more of that. today's forecast, 47 by 8:00. 55 degrees by noon. and your high this afternoon 58 degrees and we expect that rain to gradually built in. again, later in the afternoon and evening. high temperatures today looks like a lot of us are up in the

50s in southeastern pennsylvania. and mid-50s from dover down to the central part of south jersey and down in cape may, probably 53. a little cooler. 3:30 on future tracker 6 we are looking at rain possible from the early band and additional rain is coming up from the sound and light rain begins to pop non-a slow down feature for your evening commute and later tonight 10:00, 11:00 we start to see heavier bands of rain coming through and that is future tracker's take on 11:00 and we may see this break down in part in the region but enough overnight rain where you can have ponding and puddling and poor drainage flooding in places. and tomorrow's commute you will want to make sure you slow it down and be careful for the issues with the high water here and there. this could change to wet snow

and all the way into south jersey, i expect it to melt as it hits the is surface and the farther north the flushiness on the roads. and the poconos quite a bit of snow there and coating to inch philadelphia south and most of it on the grass. and 2 to 4 inch boundary is also mainly on the grass and maybe slushy roads in through here and the poconos more wet snow and a lot more of a problem. during the day tomorrow in particular the afternoon and at night and into saturday morning. we see the wins build through the day and during the period going as high as 50 to 55 miles per hour gusts and down the shore it can go higher and 55. and broken tree limbs and power outages is also an issue and general debris on roadways, trash can lids and twigs. 58 is today's high and rain gradually arrives nast noon and evening and nevy rain at times
