will generally be cloudy than yesterday. temperatures on the cool side. definitely coat weather up in allentown where you're still at the freezing mark. looks like upper 30's across the i-95 corridor. philadelphia has jumped up to 40 and down the shore pow about 42. here's where numbers are going though. once again the it's going to be mild. by 8 o'clock 42. i expect we'll climb up to a high of 58 degrees around 2, 3 o'clock this afternoon. for the evening commute looks pretty good. the mid 50. not a lot of wind today. the one big change more clouds. a bigger change coming tomorrow and friday with a coastal storm bringing rain and wind maybe even a little bit of wet snow. karen it's all in the seven-day. >> at least no weather related issues affecting the roads but we have heavy traffic. it's at least starting to slow up here on i-95 at allegheny as you head towards center city. you're beginning to slow down from allegheny to girard but as you look at these speeds, 55, 47 its not bad overall just yet. you're moving just fine. a good time to get out. in olde city don't forget we've got chestnut street

still closed from last weekend's fire location but no other problems on your majors. we're looking live at 422 at trooper. a little building eastbound volume as you head towards king of prussia but if you're coming in this morning from limerick or royersford no big issues here and in new jersey things are good as well. this is gloucester city here. the overnight construction is cleared on route 42 so we see some of that building volume but no delay just yet, matt and tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. and we want to s w've been watching. firefighters battling a house fire in burlington county. now we're looking, we can still see flames towards the middle of the screen and also at the top and a lot of smoke has been thrown up into the air. this fire kicked off about an hour ago, a little bit after 5:00 on the 100 block of wyndmere drive in moorestown. in fact when crews got to the scene heavy fire was showing. so far, though, there's no word of any injuries. and also breaking this morning, after nearly three hours, a s.w.a.t. situation has recently ended in south

jersey. one person is dead and another person is now in the hospital with a gunshot wound. so, to sort it all out for you "action news" reporter jeanette reyes is live near the scene on the 200 block of roosevelt boulevard and jeanette, you've been working to get new information in the last hour. >> reporter: yeah, tam, we managed to confirm about an hour ago that the shooter is dead, the suspected gunman. one woman was sent to cooper hospital with a gunshot wound. take a live look here behind me, the scene still taped off. you can see edgewater police kind of holding us off just beyond where this home is. this is where it happened, the home you're looking at right now. in fact investigators are inside right now taking pictures and videos processing the scene. the video that you're looking at or that you will look nat a few seconds here is the s.w.a.t. unit wrapping things up putting their rifles away after being here for several hours. in fact, this standoff began around 1 o'clock this morning along the 200 block of roosevelt avenue here in edgewater park. police and medics were called

to the scene. we did see paramedics drive off around 3:30, 4 o'clock this morning presumably with that one victim, the female victim who was taken to the hospital, again, with gunshot wounds but things have died down quite a bit since then. still a lot of unanswered questions, though, for example, we're trying to confirm whether that woman was shot setting off the barricade or if she was shot during the barricade. again, we are working to get that information as well as the victim's condition. reporting live in edgewater park burlington county jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." >> thank you jeanette. more breaking news here just into the news room. a deadly shooting took place in allentown this morning and the investigation is blocking airport road at this hour. police say someone opened fire at this gas station in the airport plaza just after 1:00 a.m. at least one person was killed and there are reports a second person was shot. authorities remain on the scene and expect to reopen airport road sometime later this morning. >> it is 6:04 and new this

morning, a united airlines plane made an emergency landing at lehigh valley international. the plane took off from newark last night headed for l.a. but the crew decided to divert the plane to lehigh international when they smelled smoke in the cockpit of the the plane landed without incident no one was injured and there's no word on what led to the smell of smoke. the national transportation board -- safety board is expected to wrap up its investigation into what caused a freak accident that killed a truck driver on the northeast extension. howard sexton was killed last week when a metal beam fell from the lehigh valley tunnel piercing his windshield. federal investigators shut down a part of the tunnel yesterday so they could get a closer look at that ceiling. the pennsylvania turnpike commission said a preliminary report on this crash could come out as soon as the next two to four weeks. >> the world's largest big box retailer is not giving up on staking out its turf and warding off the world's largest internet retailer. maribel aber is live at the

nasdaq in sometimes square with wal-mart's latest move to fend off amazon. good morning, maribel. >> reporter: good morning, matt. never going to give you up. wal-mart making make move to bot its fashion business. focused on clothing for women plus sized women kids and men. wal-mart beefing up its fashion markets to pete with amazon and target. stocks fell yesterday after investors worried about the pace of interest hikes. looks like futures are pointing to a higher opened. mcdonald's and disney are getting back together on happy meals. starting in june, the meals will include disney themed toys and packaging. the first one is tied to the movie incredibles two. disney parted ways with mcdonald's happy meals almost 12 years ago reportedly over concerns about childhood obesity. disney is also the parent of 6abc. matt, just keep those fries hot and the big kids and the little ones will stay happy. >> you've got it. thanks maribel. there was disappointment for some parents and relief for others who were hoping to

change. through the morning the clouds are still there and through the afternoon rain arrives and at times it could be steady to heavy. little pockets of heavier rain possible. pretty wet for the evening commute. more rain some of it heavy at times on thursday night and even if we get a little bit of a lull in the action on friday the winds will pick up thursday and into friday as a coastal low pressure center forms and then that draws in cold air on the backside and you can see how we might get some wet snow mixing in and maybe even finish this whole thing late friday with wet snow. now, the biggest issue would be up in the poconos, maybe a little accumulation in the lehigh valley. this stuff here probably doesn't stick to roads. nonetheless we're looking at the arrival of a lot of interesting stuff weather-wise thursday into friday. get stuff done if you have things to do. 58 degrees is your mild high. then tomorrow as you just saw rain arrives. a high of 54. rain heavy at times through the afternoon and nighttime. winds pick up at night and we've got an accuweather alert

not bad. lots of clouds but 54 by 6 o'clock and by 8 o'clock still holding the low 50's. we are looking at cooler conditions tomorrow and of course rain arriving and a coastal storm really whips up the rain and the wind thursday night into friday. details on that coming up, karen. >> all right, dave, it's that time of the morning. we're starting to jam up on i-95. we're looking live here at cottman and look at this heavy southbound traffic as you head towards center city. you're already pretty heavy from cottman to girard. let's take a look in downingtown actually on the big picture here we have a disabled vehicle on i-95 southbound past allegheny. it's on the shoulder so one of the reasons we're seeing some slower traffic. you're seeing speeds about 30 miles an hour. don't forget in olde city we still have portions of chestnut street shut down between second and third. schuylkill looking good and the blue route looking good. now we'll head over here to downingtown chester county. this is what it looks like on the 30 bypass approaching 113. if you're headed eastbound like these folks right here heading towards exton, a

little building volume but no major delay just yet. let's look at your area bridges as we check them, we are seeing some construction still right lane blocked west-eastbound as you're heading into new jersey but more volume westbound coming into the city and it's so far not a big jam on the ben just yet. we'll hop into new jersey coming up in a few minutes matt. >> thank you, karen. we're following breaking news here. a three-hour long armed standoff in south jersey has come to an end as police say the gunman ended his own life. "action news" reporter jeanette reyes is live at the scene in edgewater park, burlington county. jeanette. >> reporter: good morning, matt. we're starting to see a little more activity here as detectives start knocking on doors speaking with neighbors see what they know and what they heard overnight. take a live look here behind me now that the sun is up you can get a little better view of what's going on right now. those are detectives that you're seeing walking toward the home. you can see it's all taped off right now but still many investigators coming in and outside of that home as they take pictures and collect some evidence. we did see them across the street.

it appeared they were either looking for something or picking up something but, again, this is still under investigation. video that you are about to look at or should be looking at right now is as they were wrapping up earlier today we saw a s.w.a.t. team come out but as soon as we arrived on scene around 3:30, 4 o'clock this morning, they were packing things up. that is when things ended here and according to authorities, the gunman -- the suspected gunman took his own life. a woman was taken to the hospital, to cooper hospital with a gunshot wound. her condition has not yet been released to us. but again, that was a woman who suffered a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital to be treated. medics were on scene briefly here but then shortly after they were sent back. they left and that is presumably because they were able to confirm that the gunman took his own life. but again, at this point still some unanswered questions. we're trying figure out whether or not the gunshot at the woman, the woman's gunshot was what set off this

barricade or if that happened during the barricade. as soon as we get some more answers we'll make sure to pass it along but in the meantime this is taped off and investigators still looking over the scene. reporting live in edgewater park, jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." tam. >> all right, janet i'll take it from here. tam go ahead. >> thank you, matt. chopper6 live over even more breaking news. firefighters battling a house fire in burlington county. you can see it's quite a big structure there and the right side all the way over to the left side we see smoke and quite a bit of burn damage. the fire starting after 5:00 this morning on the unit block of wyndmere drive in moorestown. the flames were so intense they burned the siding off the house next door. heavy fire was showing when crews got to the scene this morning. take a look at this picture. it's a brand new photo that's just come into "action news." some good news here. so far there are no reports of injuries. and investigators are sorting through what is left of a west philadelphia row home where a man died in a fire last night. this came in as a routine call

just one alarm. but then it quickly spread through the roof noon a neighboring home on the 5300 block of race street. >> coming out the roof and for a minute there i thought it was going to explode. >> there was a lot of fire in the building of origin and the -- it had already extended to the occupancy next door so basically when they arrived there was fire more than two stories up above the building. >> this was the second deadly fire in the city in one day. yesterday morning a person died in the fire at a home in the strawberry mansion neighborhood. >> parents and students from cherry hill high school east packed a school board meeting demanding answers regarding the suspension of a beloved teacher. chaos erupted last night when school board president barry dickinson announced law prevents the board from speaking about personnel matters. dickinson also said nothing he has seen in the public domain is based on fact. >> everything related to this matter is conjecture.

an investigation is under way. no facts exist in public. >> students staged a massive walkout at the high school yesterday morning protesting the absence of history teacher timothy locke. parents and students say locke was suspended over comments he made regarding the school's lack of security. they also say his bag was searched for weapons and he was ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation. >> ♪ >> it is going to be an emotional and unnerving day for students in parkland, florida. they'll be trying to get back to normal going back to classes at stoneman douglas high school after going through something absolutely abnormal, a deadly mass school shooting. the principal has been tweeting messages of support telling them leave the backpacks at home. today is about comfort and healing, not about curriculum. the officer who captured the suspect was honored at an event yesterday. officer michael leonard was reluctant to call himself a hero and he got emotional as he reflected upon the day.

towards route 42, you can see on your ramp you're kind of slowing down. it's that time of the morning getting a little busier anew accident just popped up and we're hearing it's involving a pedestrian here in haddon heights in camden county on station avenue at tenth avenue. so watch for that one coming in to us. matt and tam have been talking about this problem in moorestown, burlington county, a fire on wyndmere drive. if you're in this area, you could stick to borton landing road as your alternate. as we look at your majors, i-95 starting to slow down southbound 28 minute ride from woodhaven to the vine. schuylkill eastbound and westbound no problems. travel times about 20 minutes between the blue route and the vine and we saw that slowing down on 422. let's look at storm tracker6 live 3-d and we can see we're dry today. the clouds are going to increase. this is the rain we're tracking for thursday into friday which will be pretty significant. your highlights today, yeah, it's a little bit of a chilly start but we've got a mild afternoon. temperatures more than 10 degrees above average this afternoon. the rain does arrive tomorrow. looking at the next couple days, today's high 58 under

down on the ground. he's facing charges of resisting arrest and obstructing justice. the three officers are on paid desk duty as the camden county prosecutor determines whether this was a case of police brutality or justified force. >> two philadelphia police officers have just been honored for a life saving action. caught on camera officers nicholas harper and eugene donahue saved man in a wheelchair from a fire in north philadelphia last year. they just happened to be nearby when the 911 call came in. but in an unusual twist, the man they saved, 48-year-old henry flowers was later convicted of setting that fire as part of a feud with a neighbor. >> a western pa basketball player hopes his good deed inspires others. >> sorry to bother you. i noticed you guys out here all week. >> duquesne university sophomore mike lewis posted this video online showing him delivering pizza and wings to patricia smith. lewis says he noticed smith was living out of her car near

that is the cold spot this morning and we've been really struggling to get out from under that. down the shore about 42. satellite shows you how that blue sky from yesterday is going to fade behind increasing clouds today some sun at times but eventually those clouds will tend to get thicker and thicker. as we go through the day though we stay dry and we stay mild. by 10 o'clock, 49 degrees. by noon up to the mid 50's. it's not going to be a bad day to maybe head out for lunch. 58 is your high at 3 o'clock. even the evening commute still holding onto the mid-50's in most neighborhoods. high temperatures across the region not a big difference really between north and south. allentown 58. cape may 54. and everybody else pretty much in the middle. a lot of upper 50's across the region this afternoon. tomorrow we've got clouds in the morning and then as we go through the late morning and early afternoon hours and right through the rest of the afternoon we do see rain arriving. it starts down south winds up over there. some of these will be pockets of heavy rain. more of this up past 11 o'clock and even if we get a little bit of a lull overnight into friday we're still looking at some pockets

of rain and it starts to get colder so that we could get some wet snow arriving. in fact late in the day this could end up as wet snow before it pushes away from us. i think it biggest impacts in the poconos but even if you're in the northern suburbs around allentown you might see a little bit of accumulation late on friday. your seven-day, 58, no the bad today, just a little cloudier than yesterday. tomorrow rain arrives as you just saw. 54. overnight into friday t-the winds pick up and it is still somewhat wet. we've got an accuweather alert on friday because of the combination of lingering rain and windy blustery conditions and maybe that changeover to wet snow. down the shore you could have some coastal flooding so a lot of stuff going on on friday. it's also 44 so it's going to be kind of chilly and uncomfortable. then on the weekend brick and brisk and chilly on saturday 46 degrees clouds and sun. bundle up for the union opener at night. sunday more sunshine, still chilly 45 degrees and upper 40's as we head into monday and tuesday. next chance of rain is probably tuesday. >> okay, thank you david. >> uh-huh. >> nice to see a little

an armed standoff came to an end in south jersey early this morning. police say a suspected gunman killed himself after shooting a woman in edgewater park. the woman's condition has not been released. and an investigation is that under way into a deadly shooting at a gas station in allentown. at least one person was killed and there are reports that a second person was shot. >> checking your traffic this morning we're seeing a real jam on i-95. look at that southbound traffic here at the betsy ross bridge. already heavy from cottman to girard. you can see that 33 minute travel time as you're traveling from woodhaven to the vine. in morrisville bucks county a downed pole from an earlier accident here. a truck smashed into a pole. crews are on the scene trying to fix it. so stick to route 13 instead of pennsylvania avenue and in haddon heights we've got an accident involving a pedestrian here on station avenue at tenth street. looking at your new jersey majors, though, no big issues coming in on 42, 55 or 295. dave. >> more clouds dancing around along with some sun early this morning and the clouds are going to get thicker as the day goes on.
