my recent donation went to atlantic coast regional center. >> this just in. >> you get a little thing telling you how you helped. so, got to give blood. on to the weather. >> okay. >> we have the weather center and -- i was going to forget it if i didn't say it then. we've got cloud cover in place. there are some areas that have some dense fog again this morning and i'll talk more about that in a moment. as we take a look at temperatures though man, they are nice again this morning. 42 degrees a little cooler in allentown but 58 degrees in reading, 60 degrees in trenton, 52 in philadelphia. 50 degrees in wilmington. 56 in millville right now and at this early hour in dover, 62. these are numbers that we generally have for you well into the spring but you're getting them in february today. all right, so what about the visibility? it's not as widespread a problem as it was yesterday but it's still a problem. we've got a half mile visibility in wilmington and millville a third of a mile in atlantic city at the airport down to wildwood and also out in lancaster and up in allentown in the poconos. in these areas in particular are you liable to run into

some dense fog if you're driving too fast it will be hard to see pedestrians, et cetera, so slow it down. temperatures today really going to zoom again. 58 degrees by 7 o'clock. by noon, 69 degrees. and by 3 o'clock, a record high of 76. the old record is 72 and philadelphia's not going to be the only record that falls today, a lot will. now, later on in the evening there's a chance of some sprinkles and showers. i'll talk about that and show that you on future tracker6 and then of course a big cooler damp change for tomorrow but karen, another nice one ahead today. >> all right, dave, so once again we're dealing with some fog. scanning for it in our cameras we found a bit of it here in morrisville bucks county. this is route one at pennsylvania avenue so a bit of fog here. southbound heading towards langhorne moving okay. on the big picture, we're seeing 4 miles an hour right now with this construction going on. we want to watch for this on the schuylkill expressway. they're in the process of picking it up but this is the schuylkill at south street. construction had been blocking the right lane. in the process of clearing out and as it does, it often jams up so that's why we're seeing that 4 miles an hour on the schuylkill. this is westbound, the schuylkill at south street and crews are going to do it again

tonight at 9 o'clock. now, eastbound last night didn't have any construction. it was westbound that's causing the jam and as they're clearing it out we're seeing traffic just extra slow there. in northern delaware an accident i-95 southbound at harvey road. one of the areas where we really were seeing a lot of fog, too. fog isn't bad this morning on the ben franklin bridge. roads are a little damp here. that's your westbound traffic coming into the city moving okay but bring those speeds down a little with the fog, matt. >> good idea. thank you, karen. fighting for their safety. students who survived the high school shooting in parkland florida one week ago today are taking their fight to both state lawmakers and national lawmakers. president trump is hosting a listening session today with students and teachers from marjory stoneman douglas high school. this comes as hundreds of other students are preparing to head to florida's state capitol in tallahassee where they will meet with state lawmakers later today. they are rallying for tougher gun laws and school safety. hours before they arrived, florida lawmakers voted down an assault rifle bill that

would have also banned the purchases of large capacity magazines statewide. the students say they are not backing down. >> we're going to continue to fighting. the way i like to see us is we're kind of like that thorn that you have in your foot that you can't take out. we're going to be that thorn until the changes that we want are implemented or at least one step. >> many of the students boarded buses for tallahassee after attending funerals for the victims. the school's athletic director christopher hixon will be laid to rest in south florida today. hixon was an easton, northampton county native. the fight over gun control is also taking center stage closer to home. pennsylvania state senator daylin leach says he plans to introduce legislation that would allow courts to temporarily take away a person's gun if they show warning signs of violence. leach says under the bill people would be able to petition a judge but would have to show reasonable belief that the person under concern is a danger to the community.

a church in the poconos, meanwhile, will still host a blessing of guns ceremony planned for next week. the church, which is an off shoot of the unification church is encouraging couples to bring their unloaded ar-15 rifles with them to a commitment ceremony. it is to celebrate a family's right to defend themselves with assault weapons. >> it is 5:05 and this morning a teenager remains in critical condition after being shot three times in west philadelphia. the action cam was on the scene last night as police collected evidence. the 17-year-old was shot at 56th and sansom streets. hawpe rushed to the hospital in critical condition and police are still now looking for the gunman. the former head of neurology at drexel college of medicine dr. ricardo cru cia no is charged with repeatedly raping a patient in new york city. he had previously pleaded guilty to groping several women at a philadelphia clinic and was sentenced to two years

probation. >> demolition work will continue today at the fire ravaged building in olde city that is still in danger of collapsing. crews started dismantling the exterior fire escape yesterday because it was putting stress on the facade. inspectors considered 239 chestnut street structurally unsafe. the fire started early sunday morning and gutted the five story building but also damaged neighboring properties. federal investigators are hoping to figure out whether this fire was intentionally set or simply an accident. the drive to work was not as smooth yesterday. hopefully it will be smoother today along i-295 in gloucester and salem counties. road crews spent yesterday scraping asphalt off the 14-mile stretch of the roadway. the material had spilled accidentally from a dump truck. at least 20 cars drove through the sticky material yesterday morning. tri-state transportation company owns the truck and says it will fix any vehicles

that were damaged. >> a philadelphia high school basketball player was benched by a referee for wearing her hijab the head covering worn by some muslim women. the ref said the player did not have the proper paperwork filed. now the school district is calling for the rules to be changed and it's opening up a civil rights debate. jeanette reyes is live with the full story. good morning, jeanette. >> reporter: good morning, tam. this varsity player can now play but the school district and she also says that this is really about the rule and it being unfair. >> the referee had came over and told me that i couldn't play because i didn't have the papers for me to wear my hijab. i was upset and embarrassed. >> reporter: nasihah thompson king has been playing with her hijab since the sixth grade but it wasn't until this weekend that the mastery charter shoemaker student was banned for not taking off her religious headdress before the game. according to the state's athletic association, piaa

anything worn on the head for medical or religious purposes must be approved. in fact, her coach was warned of the waiver two days before the game. the school officials admit the rule was appropriately enforced and there was a breakdown in communication. however, thompson-king and the district say the rule itself is unfair. >> could the waiver have been filled out? sure. is it an, at a step that our students of different faiths have to do if they're wearing religious garments? yes and i don't think that's fair. >> reporter: the district is calling for a religious exemption as the hijab doesn't alter the sport or provide a competitive advantage. >> i absolutely believe that that rule needs to be abolished not just for my daughter but for anybody who is choosing to honor their religion. >> reporter: and thompson-king will be back on the court this afternoon at 3 o'clock for a game with her hijab. in the meantime the piaa says they have no plans of changing their rules. reporting live in spring

garden, jeanette reyes channel6 "action news." >> thank you, jeanette. dave murphy is tracking those visibilities. >> yeah, we got fog out there in parts of the region and like yesterday in some areas it's kind of thick. double scan shows you that we are dry except if you are driving through fog. you'll get some drizzle on the windshield and those windshield wipers will be doing that intermittent thing. as we take a look outside, we have sky6 and there's penn's landing, the ben franklin bridge. obviously here in center city the fog not nearly as bad as it was yesterday. it was kind of hard to see the bridge and even i-95 from the height of our camera. so, things are better here but some of the outlying suburbs, lehigh valley, berks county in particular and then down through wilmington an good passion of south jersey thick fog again this morning. 52 degrees is your current temperature. it's mild. wow. winds out of the southwest not all that strong. 3 miles per hour. that's one of the reason we've got that fog lingering in some spots and forming in the first place. still cool up in allentown, 42. 58 in reading. 52 in philadelphia. 50 in wilmington. 60 degrees in trenton right

now. and 56 in millville. there are some clouds out there. you can see 'em. we'll wind up after the fog breaks up, say, 9, 10 o'clock, we'll start to see that sun build back in just like we did yesterday and i think it will be a clouds and sun mix for most of you for most of the day but like yesterday the big story is where temperatures are going. we're going for a high of 76 degrees. i expect to climb up into the low 60's as soon as 10 o'clock. 69 by noon and then there's the high right around throw clock. still 70 by -- around 3 o'clock. still 70 by 6 o'clock. that's philadelphia. i think a lot of records across the region are going to fall. as you take a look at high temperatures i've placed an asterisk next to all the forecast highs that are afternoon records today and it's almost everywhere. record high forecast in trenton at 72, 72 in allentown, 73 in reading, 74 in wilmington. there's the 76 in philadelphia. 74 at the a.c. airport. 73 in dover. couple of spots are also getting into the 70's and

aren't going to set new records in all likelihood but it's going to be pretty toasty everywhere away from the shore. cape may 60 degrees. future tracker6 shows you there's a couple sprinkles around this afternoon and then later tonight we've got some showers that will pop down through the region. most of the day is dry. and then tomorrow a big change. a high of just 49 degrees, cloudy, dreary with rain at times so enjoy today if you are a warm weather lover. 76 is today's record high. tomorrow just 49 with some occasional rain here and there. and periods of rain on friday. this isn't a heavy driving rain for the most part but it is kind of cool and damp obviously. friday's high 46. on saturday, milder, 59. there will be some rain, the steadiest arriving in the afternoon and evening. and then some of that rain tapers into sunday morning. i do think there's a decent chance we dry out on sunday afternoon with a high of 61. and then back into the 50's on monday and tuesday. >> if the worst you can do is send us back into the 50's i think we're going to be okay. >> pretty nice stretch. >> yes.

>> ♪ >> breaking news here. a woman says she was pistol whipped and injured during a home invasion in olney. the action cam is live on the 200 block of west roosevelt boulevard where this happened a little more than an hour ago at 4:00 a.m. gunshots were also fired outside of the home but it is not clear if anyone was hit. police are checking area hospitals for any gunshot victims. the attacker took off on foot. >> it's 5:15 now. here on this wednesday morning. let's go over to karen rogers, see what it is like if you're getting out there to start your commute. good morning. >> if you're waking up, you're a little foggy you're not alone. the fog isn't quite as bad as yesterday. this is new jersey 42 northbound traffic coming up from deptford or turnersville. you see a a little bit of fog in this shot but no big delay. pennsauken camden county a new accident on haddonfield road at park avenue so watch for crews on the scene in pennsauken with the new accident. i've been telling you about an accident in northern delaware

on i-95 southbound at harvey road. that accident just cleared so traffic is moving a little better now. was causing a little restriction. live right here in west conshohocken and this is the blue route southbound ramp to the schuylkill expressway and we still have these construction crews out there. you can kind of see the flashing lights that are set up and traffic's squeezing by the construction but it is partially blocking his ramp in west conshohocken blue route southbound to the schuylkill. and they're doing some construction here in jenkintown on old york road and they're blocking the right lane so watch for that at vista road. let's take a look right now at these -- whoa -- at the visibility reports because of the fog. half mile visibility now in wilmington and millville. so, the fog really evident there and 1 mile visibility at philadelphia international airport. you want to call ahead before you head out. .3 of a mile in allentown and lancaster. it's another really mild day. a high today of 76. that's more than 30 degrees above average. this is typical for may. so enjoy it now in february, tam. >> we'll make the most of it.

thank you, karen. drivers in utah faced whiteout conditions yesterday. the band of lake effect snow dumped more than 7-inches of snow on the salt lake city area. a newly released dashcam video shows a utah highway patrol sergeant's near-miss on monday. the trooper was on the scene of a car crash when another vehicle slammed into his vehicle. the trooper runs out of the way and then here comes a second car sliding into the two already crashed vehicles. no one amazingly was seriously injured. >> the flyers have climbed to third place in the metropolitan division. they are only two points behind second place pittsburgh and three behind first place washington. newly acquired goalie petr mrazek did not start last night. jake voracek saved the day scoring the tying goal with 1:25 left in regulation and then getting the game winner in ot. the flyers win three to two. phillies spring training continues in clearwater florida. jp crawford is the starting short stop now that freddy galvis is gone.

the phillies first exhibition game is against the university of tampa tomorrow. >> a new policy is about to go into effect at cinemark theaters. starting tomorrow no bags larger than 12-inches by 12-inches by 6-inches will be allowed with the exception of medical bags and diaper bags. staff will have the right to inspect any bag or purse and the theaters do not have an area to leave bags or other belongings that they are not going to let inside. your best bet leave it in the car or leave it at home. we'll be right back. >> ♪

ago. see, i'm an optimist, i'm showing you things that are better. i-95 southbound we had an accident cleared here. it was causing restrictions but traffic is moving a lot better there dave. >> a mild start with fog parts of the region. it's not everywhere but where you see it slow down. temperatures are probably going to be in the low 60's for the morning commute overall. i'm liking this high of 76. not only. i kind of liking it because i like warmer temperatures but i do think that that's going to be the high today and that will set a new record in philadelphia. the old record is 76 and for the evening commute, boy, don't worry about a coat. we're probably still holding 70 as late as 6 o'clock. if you're flying some places have had some issues this morning. we don't have any major delays just yet because the air traffic isn't all that high but in philadelphia there's a bit of fog and we still have some rain in dallas fort worth and more fog up at j.f.k. and probably newark as well. looks like earlier rain out in chicago has dried up a little bit right now, tam. >> thank you, david. going on to health check, the key to losing weight might not be counting your calories. instead, it might be taking a
