inside of the home where the couple was found dead over the weekend was intentionally set. now the big story is the arson investigation into the death of a prominent couple. now we don't know how john sheridan and his wife died. >> rick and monica, investigators are trying to sort this out to determine how john sheridan and his wife died. the fire in their bathroom bedroom was intentionally set but we don't know by whom. the fire in meadow brook township was arson but how the fire started was unclear. john sheridan died at the scene in the second floor bedroom where the fire started.

there does not appear to be an intruder in the house. when asked if the deaths were being treated as a murder-suicide, he said only that it was an ongoing investigation. john sheridan was a well respected state administrator and attorney and lobbyist and his wife joyce was a retired school teacher, the statement by their four sons readed in part, the death of our parents leave a hole in our hearts and our family that can never be filled. we cannot fathom or explain their passing. >> they said the news was an arson fire was tragic, still unanswer tonight who set the fire and how did the couple die and why? i'm nora muchanic, channel 6 "action news." >> nora thank you. turning to a developing story at the tioga-nicetown

neighborhood. a 6-year-old boy has died after being struck by a car here, it unfolded at 15th and pacific streets this afternoon. the child was pronounced dead and the driver responsible did remain at the scene, police did not make any arrests. we are also following a story out of washington, d.c. that, is where the director of the secret service, julia pierson announced her resignation, she was in the hot seat during a congressional hearing yesterday after she faced questions about a security breach at the white house, she was widely criticized for the incident that let a knife-wielding man run into the white house. we'll have more on the resignation and the recent string of embarrassments for the secret service. the revel casino is a step closer to opening its doors, the casino has a new owner after a multimillion-dollar buyout was

ebola, what happened in texas, could happen anywhere. that is why most medical centers in texas have plans in place, i got a look at some plans at a local hospital today. at jefferson university hospital, dr. kathleen squires an infectious disease expert says protocol is set. if a patient comes in with possible ebola symptoms, asking where it's patient has been is vital. the patient in dallas is reported to have told a nurse he was in liberia, the first time he was scene but that was not passed on but it wasn't until two days later he was put in isolation. health officials say they are monitoring 12 to 18 people, including five children that the patient may have had contact with, when he had symptoms and

was contagious, ebola is not easily spread. >> this is not spread through the air, not an infection that could be contracted by casual contact meaning being in the same room. >> she says that ebola is spread through bodily fluids and if the virus is suspected the patient should be put in isolation and health care works must wear protective gear, they use it to prevent the spread of ebola, with gowns gloves and face masks. meanwhile people traveling to the united states from west africa, this is dr. richard besser of abc news, having his temperature taken at nairobi national airport before flying home. >> the seener discovered the

detectives. family members and friends are shocked by the shooting as questions of domestic violence are front and center. >> it was a shoot that shocked the community. daniel crespo gunned down in his own home by his wife and high school sweetheart. >> person unconscious -- >> according to the local sheriff's department, he and his wife were arguing over money and his son intervened. >> there was a physical struggle and the wife produced a firearm and fired several shots at her husband, struck in the torso several times, he was taken to the local hospital and pronounced dead. >> now it's up to the district attorneys office to decide if charges will be filed. family members are hoping for

ous addererouser of of a 6-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a car. kenneth moton just arrived at that scene at 16th and pacific. what can you tell us >> reporter: we just got the update 15 minutes. they say that the 7-year-old boy was on it's way home when he was hit, he was with several of his siblings when they watched the vehicle strike the boy. the boy was on the sidewalk on the 3600 block of 15th when he darted between two parked vehicles, the driver of the buick did not see him until it was too late. the 7-year-old was struck and trapped under the vehicle, residents and others on the street ran over to help but the

child was pronounced dead on the scene, the boy was with several of his sisters when he was hit. and we spoke to one resident that heard the deadly collision and rushed to console the siblings. >> i was holding one sibling and trying to keep them calm at this time. during all the commotion. there is no words to describe what i just experienced. i never experienced anything like that. i really for sorry for the family. >> as you take a live look here at tioga-nicetown, the upset male driver was taken in for questions, they say he was not speeding and this all appears to be a tragic accident. family members including the boy's mother ru
