a moment, but first we'll check in with david murphy looking at weather and karen rogers looking at the roads, good morning. >> reporter: we have satellite, and shat -- satellite is showing cloud cover we'll be off to a sunny start, and later in the day we'll have passing clouds. these showers are missing us, but we're keeping our on odds precipitation. just a spotty shower from that, though. 63 in allentown, 65 in reading, 63 in wilmington, down the shore we're holding 67 in sea isle and along the boards in atlantic city. as we go through the day, 71 degrees by 9:00 a.m., then it gets warm, 79 by noon, the high is 84 degrees, that will strike around 4:00 p.m., but you'll be in the low to mid 80s throughout afternoon hours, humidity will be on the manageable side today and slight chance of a spotty thunderstorm.

enough sun in play if you're at the pool or the beach, uv index running high, you want to keep the sunscreen handy. what are the roads looking like? >> reporter: we're live in delaware county, i-95 at 4:30, that's the southbound traffic, you can see the cones set up, the two right lanes are blocked, northbound we had less lanes blocked, but we had that reopened, things looking better. northbound working on i-95 with the paving crew. no accidents, blue route, schuylkill expressway i-95 in good shape. tacony-palmyra back down after an earlier open and you have a concert at the mann, you'll see extra congestion, but for now you're good to go. the schuylkill expressway overnight construction has cleared, the road is still milled. it hadn't been paved, so we've got bumpy conditions out there at this early hour, matt. >> we'll hold on.

this is new though, this morning, two cars collided along a delaware highway causing one to burst into flames and leaving three people injured. it happened aback and forth maryland avenue in wilmington at 12:30 a.m., the impact sent one car into the concrete barrier where it caught fire, a passenger in the back seat suffered cuts and burns. the passenger and driver in the front seat were checking account out for injuries, nobody was hurt in the second vehicle. police reported a report of a shooting in a strawberry mansion neighbored and opened fire on a man. katherine scott is bringing us up to speed in the investigation. >> reporter: the officer involved in the shooting was placed on desk duty, there's no indication that he didn't follow proalt call, but this investigation is underway. >> reporter: on him "action news" was there as one of the

alleged gunman was taken into custody. investigators say this began before 4:00 p.m. on the 3000 block of page street. two men shot another man four times and left him lying in the street. >> about a half-hour later, we received information that the two shorts from that particular job ran into a house two blocks away. officers rushed to the 3200 block of page and surrounded the home and that's when the alleged gunman emerged. >> an individual came out of the back of the house with a gun in his hand, pointed the gun at police, the officers shot the man in the abdomin. >> reporter: it is unclear if the suspect fired at the officers. police are trying to determine the motive for the initial shooting. >> as of right now it's just the beginning of the

investigation. >> reporter: and the suspect was in surgery at temple university hospital. we're live at police headquarters, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> and the delaware county community came out last night to mourn teresa hunt the case worker, psychiatric patient was killed by richard plotts. >> this brings into sharp focus the difficult we fails in society and the difficult these case workers have everyday. >> reporter: the viewing and funeral were held in havertown at stretch funeral home. red light cameras will be on at old york road and old york road and welsh and more land

humid. on the beach, the temperatures are up close to 70. 74 on the beach at noon, 77 is the high at 3:00 p.m. more or less that up and down the jersey shore. 84 is the high in philadelphia, a mixture of sun and clouds, a very spotty storm, the best chance is in the northern suburbs and southwest at 11 to 14. 68 by 8:00 a.m., 78 by 11. 82 at 2:00 p.m., probably the same at 5 with the high of 84 around around p.m. tomorrow, clouds get thicker in the morning. as we roll into the afternoon there's an increased chance of spotty shower or thunderstorm around. most of this will be up to the north and west. that will change on saturday as another system comes out of the south and starts to get us wet. clouds and sun, 84, but we're
