van that ended up under the trash truck and the person was rescued and taken to the hospital with two other people. wilmington police are investigating a shooting on the 700 block of east 7th street. this happened at 1:30 this afternoon. the man suffered a gunshot wound and he was conscious and alert when medics removed him from a home. he was taken to christiana hospital for treatment. the transportation safety board released their findings on the derailment in 2012 in pauls bro. >> the ntsb says there is plenty of blame to go around. >> reporter: they found multiple problems at a number of different levels. the bridge behind me here failed 11 times in the month prior to the derailment. the advice was to lock it down to a rail only bridge.

temple university joins a growing number of colleges including bryn mawr and st. joes making the s.a.t. and the a.c.t. optional for admissions. >> these high school seniors and their families spent the afternoon touring the campus of temple university. for the next couple of months, it will be stressful as they take the tests for s.a.t.'s and a.c.t.'s. >> i'm super nervous about taking it. >> megan was happy to learn about the new temple option application process. students applying in 2015 who choose temple option will not have to smilt s.a.t.'s but have

to answer three essay questions to tell the admissions who they are. it's aimed for students that have the grades but don't test well. >> give students that do very well in high school, who have trouble testing to tell us something more about themselves than what the test scores don't measure. >> students and parents we spoke to said that taking the pressure off with temple option sounds good to them. >> you show who you are without the standardized testing and they get to see who you are and not just based on a test. >> it gives them the ability to show who they are. >> temple is the first large urban public university to join in this trend.

bryn mawr is another in the area that doesn't require the tests. a gloucester county farm is spared from development. it was planned for 23 acres in russel township, it will remain farmland thanks to a $100 million investment from the farm preservation program and the township. sweeney says this allows for open space funding. they have until august 4th to vote on long-term funding and a bill and address a question to the november ballot. a project is underway to bright and the hallways of the courthouse in wilmington. children in the foster care system are helping artist, john

today 76 for the high. some people like it like this. it's a nice break for the heat and humidity, but we'll get the humidity back. the action cam is taking a look in gladwyne overlooking the schuylkill, the clouds were bubbling up in the afternoon, that happens when you have cooler air higher in the atmosphere. we saw this earlier today but the weather highlights showing we have a fall preview underway tonight and tonight will feel like fall.

overall the summer is relatively cool, our high today, 76 degrees, yes, that is 11 degrees below normal and this is the average high, in the middle of september. certainly not the average high for late july, and if you look at how many 90 degree days we have had this summer, philadelphia 14 and that is not much. allentown and trenton and atlantic city less than 10, we get a bit of a break with the electric bills with the air conditioning and you certainly don't need the air conditioning tonight. 74 degrees now and allentown 72 and millville 71 and trenton 73 and the poconos currently only 63 degrees, satellite 6 along with action radar showing we started the day with sunshine and what happens when you have the cool air aloft higher up and the sun heats the earth and you get the rising air parcel and that causes the clouds to bubble up. and once the sunsets, the clouds

are dissipating and they don't have much moisture to start showers, we have low pressure over canada and a big dip in the jet stream and not alone in the cool air, the low pressure is not going anywhere, but it will weaken and what this will do is allow the jet stream to move farther to the north and bring cooler temperatures for july and august and that creates instability. and that looks like better chance fz showers and thunderstorms as we head to the weekend. down the shore looking good tom, a mixture of sun and clouds and comfortably cool and 76 by 3:00, a temperature of 81, the call from accuweather, the clouds are just falling apart and a fall chill overnight low, 53 in the lehigh valley, and 62 degrees for center city, and you may want to consider a light jacket or sweater early tomorrow morning. as we time out the day, we'll see more sunshine throughout the

day and again increasing clouds in the afternoon and 66 by 11:00 and by 2:00, 80, and 85 and low humidity, the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, still refreshing tomorrow and not as cool as today, 82 on thursday and the humidity stays low and friday here comes the typical august weather i should say. 87 degrees and more humid and we'll see more thunderstorms developing and future tracker showing a line of storms and over the weekend it stays unsettled. clouds and occasional downpours on saturday, and on sunday a few pop-up showers. and not quite as activity as saturday. and 84 degrees, and monday humid and thunderstorms and 86 and tuesday you like it warm and muggy, it returns with a high of 89 degrees, until then temperatures are definitely on the cool side.
