delaware family pleads for help finding their loved ones cold-blooded killer. >> police are called after dangerous chemicals are found inside a philadelphia duplex. the story on "action news" this afternoon is a hot and steamy day that could turn stormy. sky6 live hd looking at the center city skyline. it's a steamy after. the beaches in new jersey are a popular place to seek the relief from the heat and humidity. it could be a short day at the beach with the chance of storms moving in this afternoon. meteorologist karen rogers is in for david this noon and joins us at the "action news" big board with the details from accuweather. are. >> reporter: that's right, anybody outside today needs to keep an eye to the sky. we had a cell moving along the coastline, near route 72, chats

worth we had a shower and we had a shower to the northwest, as well. here's storm tracker 6 live double scan in 3d. there's a lot more storms where they came from. we have frontal boundaries that will move their way through, we're watching the storms inch toward the area and one of the reasons watching them so closely, the storm prediction center has the entire viewing area under a risk for severe weather. gusty winds, heavy downpours and lightning associated with the storms coming our way. the national weather service posted a flash flood that goes into effect today at noon until tomorrow night. a quick look at future tracker 6 showing what the afternoon could look like, at 5:30 we see the storms gathering through the area and moving through late this evening, into the nighttime hours. a strong line of storms coming

situation in montgomery after 100 homes were evacuated due to a mysterious odor. john rawlins joins us live from skippack township with the details. >> reporter: hi, rick, the latest briefing we had was 73 of the homes folks can go back if they wish. it started from reports with neighbors with a an odor. firefighters came and determined there was something in the basement. they have taken additional samples and sent them to the labs, and the results should come in this afternoon. late sunday afternoon, courtney logan felt light headed and noticed a strong odor in the basement. >> i brought the kids out an when i want back in i noticed it was bad.

we called 911. >> reporter: arriving firefighters using air tests picked up hired -- hydrocarbon readings. initial reports of low level of hydrogen cyanide have been dismissed. water is being tested. in the meantime authorities are allowing residents to return to homes that did not test positive today. as to what is going on -- >> honestly it would be pure speculation. the substance in the sump pump pit tested pose did i -- pose pe for a hydrocarbon.

>> reporter: they are hoping to get results by late this afternoon then authorities what they have been dealing with and from there determine a source. rick williams channel 6 "action news." >> chopper 6hd was over the scene of an investigation of grant avenue several homes were evacuated officer officials found chemicals inside an apartment. officials with homeland security and narcotics are investigating to determine if there's a drug lab at the apartment. wilmington police made a plea for help as they look for those responsible for the shooting death of an innocent by bystander. there were 30 people around at the time of the murder, but nobody has come forward. chad perdelli joins us live at police headquarters in wilmington with more. chad. >> reporter: sarah investigators are trying to break that stop

snitching culture. today wilmington police along with the victim's mother held a press conference at the crime scene and made a plea that witnesses need to come forward. >> they took my support system, you put a big hole in my heart, you put a hole in my family's heart. >> reporter: the mother of crystal brown made a plea to the public this morning. she needs help torched her daughter's killer. >> i'm asking for your help. i know someone saw something or knows something, because we know people talk. >> reporter: last sunday brown left the market 7th an adams when she was shot. two teenage girls began fighting and as she walked around the fight, two suspects started firing a block away. >> there were 30 people out here watching a street fight

main spring garden campus only. in a statement released today, the trump plaza said it is revealing a number of alternativives in an -- alternatives in an effort to remain open. without a buyer the company will cease operations on or shortly after september 16. new jersey nora muchanic will have more on "action news" at 4:00 p.m. >> the showdown between israel and hamas is entering a second week in gaza. there's a new development in the fighting. the israeli military said it used an patriot missile to shoot down an unmanned drone. hamas said they are using the drones to carry munitions and carry intelligence.

nearly 200 palestinians have been killed in the clashes. u.s. secretary of state john kerry will hold indepth discussions today with iran's top diplomat in vienna. he is trying to move negotiations forward ahead of a deadline. iran and 6 world powers set july 20th to set clear limits on the nuclear activity and international monitoring. kerry wants the deal finalized by the weekend. four ministers of britain, france and germany have failed to reach an agreement so far. >> officials cut the ribbon on the hospital's new emergency room. $60 million was invested in the state-of-the-art wing. aerial torresdale is promising no patient waiting time. >> a child has carried to safety as a massive fire burns

>> an intense fire near boston destroyed two homes under construction and damaged two others. video from the scene shows a parent carrying a child rescued from the flames. fire officials say gusty winds spread the home from one to the next. it has been labeled as suspicious. nobody was hurt in the fire. a power outage caused a monorail train full of passengers at walt disney world to come to a screeching halt. there were thunderstorms in the area when the elevated train stopped. a mechanical lift got the passengers off the train safely. disney is the parent company of 6abc. >> not everybody was celebrating after the world cup finals in brazil. at least one fan was arrested

when police broke up clashes between brazilian and argentinian fans. army sergeant bow bowe berl has returned to active duty. he has been undergo reintent graduation treatment at an army hospital in san antonio. >> the ship wreck costa concordia i has been righted and it will be towed away for scrapping. it was two years ago that it capsized killing 32 people. the ship will be towed away next monday. the captain is being tried foreman's causing the ship wreck

radar you can see where the storms are. right now north of toms river of we have a cell exiting the coastline. other than you're in the clear. it's a sprinkle in the mountain poconos and one in pottstown. let's take a look outside, the action cam was looking at a beautiful black dalia flower, i know it well. no i don't. that temperature is 83 degrees. look at the dewpoint, a measure of how much moisture in the atmosphere. 70 that's oppressive humidity. the wind are westerly at # miles per hour. not much of a breeze but pumping up the warm and moist air mass. the pressure is steady. satellite and radar showing a good amount of cloud cover over the region. we're seeing the showers trying to pop up only more so out to

the west. the next couple of days we have a few front coming through. we won't expect the showers to pop up at any point. 4:30,ing with future tracker -- 4:30, with future tracker 6 we see the showers popping up here and there. you can see the line developing with oranges and reds, this is at 6:30 and gusty winds, as well. we watch this push through through the evening hours into the early nighttime hours. so strong storms developing. the national weather service and storm prediction service has us under a slight risk for severe lightning and flash flooding possible under a flash flash-fld watch with the drenching rains and gusting winds and possibility of hail. for the evening commute as you're heading out, i think it will be stormier as the evening progresses. 9:00 a.m., 84 degrees, if you're
