philadelphia. winds of change, another heat wave is about to grip our area. >> and the rough surf is easing as we wrap up the holiday weekend at the jersey shore. let go outside to meteorologist chris sowers and the accuweather forecast. another nice beach day, right? >> reporter: another nice beach day, another nice day to do anything outside. just like yesterday, we have low humidity, but we'll have high, thin clouds. another picture perfect day. ship bottom, 67 degrees, southwesterly breeze, 5 to 15 miles per hour. the surf is beginning to ease a little bit. we had waves 4 to 6 feet. today, 2 to 4 feet. atlantic city at the airport, 67. on the boardwalk, 67. ocean city, same number.

sea isle avalon, 67. wildwood, 66. cape may, 69. ocean temperature off the coast of cape may, 74. waves 2 to 4 feet. we're not expecting much of a sea breeze, winds will be out of the southwest. for most locations north of wildwood it will be a land breeze. you'll pick up a bay breeze in cape may and wildwood. everybody north of that it will be a land breeze. 79 or 80 on the sand. in the city, mostly sunny skies expected, low humidity levels, comfortable 86 degrees. the jersey shore, breezy, sunshine high of 82. for the poconos very pleasant in the mountains, sunny skies, 78 degrees is the forecasted high up there. things change dramatically as we head into monday. 86 degrees, 94 as we head into monday. that sets the tone that starts what appears to be heat wave

number two which peaks on tuesday with feels-like temperatures that close in on 100 degrees in parts of the area, if not a little bit hotter. when i step back inside i'll talk about that in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. guys? >> chris, thank you. now to the four young lives lost, this morning a southwest philadelphia community is coming together to remember them. the children didn't make it out of the inferno that almost consumed a city block. we're learning more about the heartbreakerring -- heartbreaking moment always flames jumped from home to home. annie mccormick has more from the 6500 block of gestner street. >> reporter: family members broke down at the scene of the deadly three-alarm blaze that killed four children. the blaze jumped from home to home trapping brothers 1-month-old and 4-year-old and

4-year-old twin girls. >> they were always together. >> reporter: the twin's father remembered his girls who loved sunday school and music. >> my little girls loved to play and read. they loved art and sing. >> reporter: he said the girl's mother was inside at the time of the fire and jumped to safety. family members say she tried get back in. mayor michael nutter toured the damage and spoke the victims including people displaced, while outside the neighbors boarded up the home and neighbors drop off teddy bears at the site. >> i can only pra that their pain -- pray that their pain was not long, that they did not truly feel and experience the intensity of this fire. >> reporter: annie mccormick

channel 6 "action news." >> now, the cause of the fire remains a mystery this morning, investigators think it began on a porch and even though a firehouse is right around the corner and firefighters arrived quickly, the flames spread fast. win minutes the fire jumped to nearly a dozen homes. i meant took 100 firefighters to get the blaze under control. again, four young children died, a woman and two girls suffered smoke inhalation. fire commissioner, daric sawyer was visibly upset when discussing the fire fight. >> upon -- it was a tough fire fight. we had visited this house just last year and installed two smoke alarms, two brand new smoke alarms, so in addition installing smoke alarms, we need every e everyone to plan and

south jersey, police say someone broke into four businesses in edgewater park overnight. the first one happened on route 130 around 1:40 a.m. officers responded to the break-insist next-door and -- break-inns and tire store and restaurant. police are checking surveillance in the area. police are looking for a driver of a hit-and-run at the jersey shore. a 16-year-old was hit on the 200 block of rio grande avenue yesterday morning. he is being treated at intensive care at children's hospital in philadelphia. a friend saw him lying in the street. >> we were yelling his name he kind of got sombafied and rolled

>> the remnants of hurricane arthur left behind flooding and downed trees and damage in nova scotia this weekend. the storm is being blamed for knocking out power to 200,000 people. the storm has caused flight cancellations and delays at the airport in the capital. another day in july down means another day closer to football. let's get you outside and show you what's going on around the delaware valley we have mostly sunny skies, there we go. down if wilmington we have mostly sunny skies, just a few high, thin clouds upstairs, that's about it. it's another quiet, peaceful afternoon around the delaware valley. high pressure in control that will bring comfortable conditions and pleasant temperatures for this time of year. 68 degrees, dewpoints in the 50s

extremely stick request and hot. that will be pushing during the day on monday. today is pleasant, warmer than yesterday, highs in the mid 80s. yesterday we had a high of 82, 83. we get into monday, the warm front punches through. you add on top of that, the increase in humidity, it will feel in the upper 90s and it gets worse tuesday and wednesday. wednesday it pulls back a little bit because the storms come through. nonetheless it will be warm and humid. future tracker 6, combination of sun and clouds. same thing tomorrow, monday, we'll see cloud cover north and west first thing in the morning. it will stay dry except for the far western suburbs could see an isolated shower. poconos mostly sunny skies, very comfortable, 78 degrees the forecasted high. jersey shore another nice day to work on the tan.

>> new york firefighters are mourning the loss of one of their own, 40-year-old was killed in the line of duty yesterday. he became trapped in a burning highrise while searching for victims. more than 100 firefighters were called to the 21 story building if brooklyn. two other crew members suffered minor injuries. he was a 14 year veteran of department. >> new documents made public by nsa leaker edward snowdon suggests that average americans are part of federal intelligence mission. the report claimed when the government agency was spying on legally targeted foreigners, it collected data of ordinary users.

feel the hamptonality >> reporter: welcome back everyone, 7:22 with the travel forecast. we'll start with satellite and radar, most of the country is quiet. we have a complex of showers and thunderstorms across the western great lakes and high plain states. it is this system right here that will increase the heat and humidity during the course of the week. it's hard to tell on the sat light image that's the warm front. underneath that front is very, very hot. at least it's going to be very, very hot. all that is marching toward the northeast. it arrives first thing tomorrow. this is looking disturbing here, as well. the forecast models don't do

heat and humidity are about to set in once again, accuweather is tracking it right now on "action news." it is 7:29 let's go outside to meteorologist chris sowers and the next heat wave in accuweather. hey chris. >> reporter: hey, nydia, there's a heat wave on the way, but let me tell you this might be a perfect weekend. yesterday i don't think there was a cloud in the sky we were seeing all the blue. today we have high, thin clouds and there's no humidity and pleasant temperatures. for the month of july this is about as perfect as you can get. look at the poconos, 53 degrees. allentown, 58. philadelphia, 68. trenton, 60. lancaster, 59. dover, 64. millville, 61. on the boardwalk in atlantic city, 68 not too bad. satellite and radar composite shows a few high, thin clouds. a lot of them are starting to fizzle out here.

90s. it will feel closer to 100 as the week wears on. as you step back inside, i'll have the details in the seven-day forecast. >> chris, thank you. the investigation continues into that tragic fire in southwest philadelphia that killed four young children. the memorial is growing at the site of the blaze. the fierce flames engulfed four homes and spread to four more. after a woman jumped to safety she realized that her twin girls were trapped inside and the girls were killed. the fire claimed the lives of a 1-month-old and 4-year-old brother. mayor nutter visited with the victims families. >> i can only pray that their pain was not long, that they did not truly feel and experience

0 authority officer and four men in a car. investigators say the officer opened fire on this white dodge charge in south philadelphia overnight. after the driver reportedly tried to hit the officer with the does an. this started at 8th an south when that car was holding up traffic. the housing authority officer told the car to get moving and that's when police say a passenger got out and aimed a gun at the officer and took off running. the driver and three other men in the car were arrested after the police tracked down the vehicle at 6th street. two men were killed in wilmington, state police scoured the crash scene at marsh street at 2:30. a 53-year-old driver was fleeing the scene of another crash when he crossed the center median and hit a car driven by a 68-year-old man. le both men were pronounced at christiana hospital.

neither was wearing a seat belt. new video of the alleged beating of a palestinian teenager by israeli police. we want to warn you, some of the pictures are graphic. the parents said this video shows their son being beaten by israeli policemen. this here is how he looks after that incident. an israeli police spokesman said the footage is edited and that the teen resisted arrest. his parents are calling it attempted murder. >> i was infuriatedded i was horror -- infuriated, i was horrified, he is my son, you never want to see your son in pain especially that kind of of pain. >> the family is vacationing in jerusalem. this morning a jerusalem court ordered him to nine days house arrest. his 16-year-old cousin was kidnapped and murdered during an

apparent revenge attack after the murder of these three israeli teens. here at the big board a rare shark attack off the coast of a popular beach in southern california. the paddle boarders encountered a baby great white who is 6 to 7 feet long. the paddle boarders rushed to help the 40-year-old swimmer caught on camera who was bitten by the shark. experts believe the animal becomage stated when it -- becamage agitated when it become caught in a fisherman's net. >> the shark is shaking his head and his teeth are coming out and we think the swimmer was at the wrong place at the wrong time. >> the injury swimmer was not hurt, a fishing ban is in place

again, it is beginning to shift out of the southwest. they will be moving like this that will increase the heat and humidity over the next 72 hours or so. it will be a pleasant breeze with wind speeds up to 15 miles per hour. not a big deal. the pattern change that will be occurring over the next 24 to 48 hours that's a big deal. this air mass will push off to the east move into the canadian maritimes and jet stream climbs we get into the soupy air mass, it's hazy, hot and humid and it feels like 100 degrees. we saw that for the first time last week and we'll go through it for the next few days. combination of sun and clouds this afternoon. high, thin clouds where the sun shines through them. tomorrow morning waking up to sunshine and tomorrow afternoon we're talking about the isolated shower threat. 90% of the viewing area stays dry. far western suburbs west of
