philadelphia police are getting ready to interview the mother of the little girl that brought this suspected heroin into her classroom this morning. mom is over at the detective bureau right now, a team of detectives are at childrens hospital interviewing all the kids at the hospital when the discovery was made this afternoon. >> third graders filed on to a school bus to go to childrens hospital this afternoon. at noon today a teacher noticed a student, a 6-year-old girl sucking on what was believed to be a small packet of heroin. >> the child had the product and was playing with it and luckily an alert teacher discovered the kid with the narcotic. >> they found 10 packets with the white powdery substance, two had been opened and the contents of one was gone.

they believe that the child chewing on the packet brought the narcotics in her pocket to school. concerned about how much she ingested they brought her to chop and her fellow students followed on a bus. >> parents called the school to find out what is going on. >> my feelings is, it's just crazy. >> the mother of the little girl suspected of bringing the narcotics to the classroom came to the school and she was escorted by police to chop to check on her daughter and then to be investigated. parents were informed of what happened in a letter. >> our job is to provide help for the stubs and make sure this is not something that they are negatively affected by it. >> the child that brought the 10 pack eets into the classroom is being treated at chop and she

will be put into child protective services, her classmates are at the hop as well and they are mostly cleared medically. they are expected to be okay, this is a precaution and none of them have shown signs of exposure to heroin. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." an inmate that escaped buck county prison and then stabbed a bensalem police officer is back in custody. 23-year-old matthew miller is accused of stealing the officer's police cruiser and taking off to philadelphia. the officer suffered minor injuries, walter perez has the latest in a live report coming up tonight at 6:00. turning now to a developing story at a high school near portland, oregon. a gunman armed with a rifle shot and kill aid student and injured

for a suspect that threatened an 81-year-old man with a handgun outside of a store on north 44th street. the suspect took the victim's wallet before running off. police say do not approach him call 911 immediately. it's election day in trenton, new jersey, people are pick a new mayor, it's a runoff election, eric jackson against paul perez. one of them will succeed tony mack, he was ousted from his post in february for corruption charges. both men want to take trenton in a new direction. there were tears of joy at a graduation ceremony in bethlehem last night, for one graduating senior there were other reasons to celebrate. sharrie williams joins us with more. >> the first reason to celebrate is the fact that the 17-year-old made it through high school,

jared brown did something he did not do in three years, he put one foot in front of the other, he walked across the stage. graduating from high school is quite an accomplishment, marking a milestone in a teens life. their son jared is a graduating senior in parkland high school, in allentown. >> how i feel about jared graduating, my heart is about to explode. the journey to get here is different for all of these students, walking across the stage to get their diploma, is natural for all of these graduates. except jared, the 17-year-old was diagnosed with cerebral palsy when he was a baby and has been in a wheelchair since he was 14 and has not walked in three years, he wowed everyone and took his first steps.

l.a. clippers owner, donald sterling is planning to sell the nba for $1 billion, he made the decision after learning that the nba would not revoke the lifetime ban and fine against him. the nba made the move after racist remarks made by sterling. he now plans to take the league to federal court. health officials say that 29 million americans have diabetes and the number is expected to grow unless some folks change their lifestyle.

not like this pair, they were born 24 days apart. linda desilva was 24 weeks into her pregnancy when she went into labor. four days later she delivered alex at 1 pounds 7 ounces and the labor stops until 289 days later, and she delivered rolando, 2 pounds heavier. >> i didn't know this was possible. we can try to get you as far as we possibly can. three months later they both weigh 6 pounds each. doctors say that both baby shoz be well enough to go home next week. by the way monica, that is close to their original due date.

new york city planned to pay out 3.2 million dollars for those that participated in the occupy protest. they say that new york city police ordered them to leave their protest on new year's day on 2012 and then prevented the group from getting out of the area and arrested them. now the airline will change the way they base frequent flyers, based on the money spent and not miles flown, they benefit from the change if they fly at least 25,000 mile a year.

philadelphia international airport we shows you the heavy rain, that caused a ground stop, until 6:15 tonight. here just condition there's. >> some areas are not seeing any conditions at all? >> not even a drop of water and even sunshine, it's one particular location or two, mainly southern new jersey and it's extreme southern part of philadelphia county on double scan live. showing a thunderstorm over the airport and over citizens bank park, you can see the torrential rain, it's drainage system getting a workout and being tested. as they get ready for the first pitch. we widen out, only one lightning strike, and it's anywhere from the airport for this particular downpour that is stalled. it's not moving right now and the same goes along the new jersey turnpike south and east of haddonfield, where we see 2 inches of rainfall in the last

hour or so. as we take a look at the rainfall rates with these downpours, we look at 2 inches of rain per hour in pockets from woodbury, just west of gibbs bro and over the air pot as well. because of the higher humidity when you step out the door you feel it, there is little water drop lets in the atmosphere waiting to be squeezed out and when a downpour pops we ring out the atmosphere. this particular picture from michael from christiana delaware shows over an inch and a half of rain fell in 15 minutes, it's drainage system can't hold that kinds of water, and it's car is halfway submerged no that water and it's flash flooding, it quickly rises and then quickly subsides once the downpour moves on, in fact if you see a road covered by the flash flooding turn around and you don't want to drown, find an alternate route, only one foot of moving

water can move your car. it doesn't take much water to create powerful force. temperature-wise we are in the 70s where we see rain and pockets of 80s where it has been dry but everybody is muggy at the present time. the downpours are mainly confined south and east of philadelphia and it's lehigh valley, at the shore a decent day, it's the exception of the humidity. as we move forward in time, future tracker at 9:00, most downpours start to subside and clouds overnight tonight in the first part of your wednesday and easterly wind tomorrow and a stabilizer, and we catch a break in downpours and thunderstorms. a five-day at 5:00, dry at 80 degrees and a warm front arrives late on thursday and the humidity arrives and storms come out of the south, the same for friday, with many downpours, and friday longs like an active day with a cold front of 85 degrees,

torrential rain falling down with the super summer like soupy atmosphere. they are very localized and a flash flood warning is issued for the southern part of the center city near the airport and the sports complex and it includes interior southern new jersey for gloucester and camden county, we are seeing inches of rainfall in a short amount of time, we look at double scan live, we can see that particular downpour at the airport, 90 and the city of camden and brooklawn and as far south as gibbs bro, it doesn't have wind to push it on its way, it's stuck over packer avenue and the airport and until it rained itself out, it's going to pour for the next 15 minutes for the next hour and as high as 3 inches of rain
