a former philadelphia police detective is facing criminal charges. >> "eyewitness news" investigative reporter walt hunter is in the news room with those development walt. >> reporter: sources tell cbs-3 that former fail homicide detective ron dove is about to face criminal charges following a year long grand jury investigation into allegations that he tried to interfere with a murder investigation involving his girlfriend. that investigation centered on allegation that is dove drove his girl friend being sought by homicide detectives to upstate new york, after pick ing her up in the north philadelphia crime scene and relocating her vehicle. dove a 16 year veteran, was fired in november 2013, sources say that dove is being looked at for possible wrongdoing in connection with two other murder cases and a missing persons investigation. as of right now no charges filed in any of those cases. owe far in official comment from either philadelphia police or district attorney's office. we will learn more about the results of this grand jury investigation when they are made public at a mid morning press conference. we will have all of the details. live from the cbs-3 news center i'm walt hunter for "eyewitness news" at cw philly. >> we will see you on cbs-3 for talk philly at noon. stay up to dayton every breaking story, by signing up for our text alerts just text cbs philly news to 84816 or sign up at cbs philly.com. message and data rates may apply. we are also following this morning's icy concerns, as you

head out the door. >> vittoria has latest on the accident tying up i295 and also carol is in the weather lab. first lets go to katie. she has your forecast. mess on have that storm is out of here. >> absolutely just lingering moisture that we have that is not at months fear, guys but overall things are looking up for our area we expect to continue to find eventually the the cloud thinning for a little bit of sunshine along the way as well but storm scan three shows us what is up. in the a lot left over at this point but it is still a little bit of moisture out there and what you you will notice more than anything that there is still some cloud across the board here. so eventually expect the things to bride even up really nicely. as we go out to the kutztown area middle school for example in the live neighborhood network where we are at 27 degrees. the it is bees low freezing. there is a wintry scene out there. there are more remote suburbs, maybe sidewalks an inside streets and your own front stoop or driveway walking out the door that could even up being the mess treacherous for are morning commute. expect that it culled be slick but generally turf say those dock crews around the whole region did a great job. eventually watching for skies to clear out and thin out for some sunshine. we have to talk headlines here too. despite this brief break we're getting between sits tells we have not a one but two additional storms to track here. biggest within coming on saturday, another coming on monday but in the meantime at least we can bank on a respite here in the delaware valley. but, as we look to the weekend we are watching for a new costal storm, and a another

system coming along and it does does look like this may come just in time for our morning drive on monday. we will have more details on that throughout the rest of the show. for now you lets check on how things are looking outside and for that we will send it the out to meteorologist carol erickson with the mobil weather lab, hi carol. >> hello, we have made it to our third state. we started in new jersey, we did pennsylvania and new we're down in delaware... in audio. >> where did you go carol. that is all right. she has been working so hard all morning, the team in th3 mobil weather lab has actually been monitoring a situation that we were dealing with and are still dealing with in new jersey. what we are looking at right now, the scene of the accident on 295 southbound right at the a area of paulsboro. that is the exit but located in greenwich township. what we are looking at is a few street teams on the scene of the multiple vehicle crash that was involving an overturn salt truck, jackknife tractor trailer and as you will notice here teams are still continuing to work on this and only one lane is getting by. this three vehicle crash you will note that is this is the jackknife tractor trail their was involved. they have uprighted it but they have not cleared this incident out of the the way just yet. a as they continue to work on it, traveling on the southbound side of 295 in that area i would still suggest taking new jersey turnpike, only because while they work on that they could potentially close the roadway down and

move have within out of there. that will cause hassle for you. to avoid it would i advise you to take new jersey turnpike. the lets talk about rush hour. rush hour is definitely out there. thinks 476 making your way out of 76 and through mid county tolls. entire north bound side of 476 is not going to be fun out of the the area of the schuylkill, excuse me to mid county. we are seeing delays north bound between 95 and media. if you are traveling southbound on i-95 either direction of the schuylkill eastbound 422, north bound 202, those are a few delay points beer seeing during this rush hour. as we touch upon mass transit we are looking great. traveling new jersey for you they are cross honoring ticket due to weather. that is definitely a bone to us day. the a as we jump over into new jersey again, southbound on the new jersey turnpike at 73 we have an accident situation here. it was compromising a lane or two. if you are traveling in that area be mindful of lane blockages. also we have an accident in new jersey, in plainsboro on route one northbound, before you hit the skudder mill road area only the shoulder gets by. that is causing a bit of the squeeze. carol was mentioning this katie was mentioning this, i was mentioning this all along even though majors we are in the seeing snowfall on the ground it is still slick and black ice is still a big old problem for you. as we move to montgomery county, so if you are traveling throughout the the neighborhood and residential areas that is where we are going to see snow on the ground. still you want to proceed with those areas with extra caution because things like this happen. 611 and moreland road is a

busy intersection that gets confuse nothing that area not too far from jenkintown, cheltenham but if you are traveling 611 at more land road we have an accident situation there. actually, i will bring you back just to touch upon the pennsylvania turnpike for a moment. if you are traveling on the westbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike we are seeing delays throughout that willow grove area making your way beyond 309, and then lingering through mid county toll plaza if you are traveling around the area of bucks county whether that is traveling on route one i-95 trenton minister isville bridge, you will fine delays in that area as well so give yourself more time. lot to be mindful of this morning and definitely do not proceed any roadway even through the neighborhood without a little will extra caution. >> quick requick reminder to everyone. stay one step ahead with the cw. philly weather app. you can get latest forecast and track live radar anytime you like. the app is free and available on google play and i tune. developing right the now, a robbery went a shooting inside of a germantown variety store. an employee is critically injured and police tell us all of this happened right in front of the toddler. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao joins us at police headquarters with the latest on this investigation jan good morning. >> reporter: good morning. this store employee was shot three times once in the face and is in very critical condition at the hospital this morning. police say he may not make it. at the very least it is very likely he will lose one eye. very serious situation yesterday that unfolded in front of customers and employees alike and a little

boy. philadelphia police dusting for fingerprints at this germantown store hoping a robbery suspect made a mistake and was not wearing gloves. just after 8:30 wednesday night on the 1200 block of east stafford street police say a man entered this store in the white hooded sweat shirt and ski mask and was armed with the gun after robbing the place he shot a five three-year old employee three times. >> one to the face, two to the thigh. we're not ensure if he will survive his gun shot wound. he lost a lot of blood. >> reporter: he was taken to einstein and remains in critical condition. the employee was standing at the back deli counter. the store was opened at the time. two other customers were inside and so was the store's owner, she was standing at the front counter with a two-year old baby boy in her arms. >> that is about 15 feet distance. it is a small store. fortunately, no one else was injured. >> police are interviewing witnesses and there is no surveillance video this store does not have cameras n fact they were scheduled to get cameras at the end of the week. reporting live from outside the philadelphia police headquarters jan carabao for "eyewitness news" cbs philly. two men are hospitalized, one in critical condition after an overnight shooting in the logan neighborhood. "eyewitness news" at the scene on the 4500 block of gratz street. police say two men were shot multiple times around is 11:00 o'clock last night. authorities are investigate forgo leads on the suspect and motive for that shooting. happening today, steven woodson has a prehe limb

tells a man in the passenger seat in the the to move. moments later the passenger push his way out of the car and officer opened fire. that passenger 66 year-old jerome reid was killed. cumberland county prosecutor jennifer web mcray reaccused herself from the investigation because she knows the the officer. but some feel that is in the enough. two civil rights organizations are now asking for the case to be turned over to the new jersey attorney general's office. >> we're demanding that prosecutor mccray recues her entire staff from this investigation, give it to the attorney general's office. >> the new jersey attorney general's office said it would not take over the investigation but the the cumberland county prosecutor's office in a statement said it will handle it, and ultimately present the case to a grand jury, unless the undisputed facts indicate that the use of force was just final under the law. cbs news is reporting federal civil rights charges are not expect to be filed against darren wilson, the white police office shore shot and killed unarmed black teenager michael brown in ferguson missouri. the fbi has completed this investigation into this incident. we have new video which we showed you a moment ago in lewding in ferguson following grand jury's decision not to indict officer wilson in november. st. louis county police say they are looking for more than a hundred people are who looted that market. just past 8:00 136789 lets get traffic and weather together. how did we do yesterday. >> i will take you back in time and start off with the snow fall amounts we have pick

is. this is not our snowfall map yet. still too many questions man to completely pinpoint but we have a shot for it. it is not just a snowstorm. it would be a heavy rain and gusty win event for shore points, probably a mix with some rain and even some icing as you go in toward that i-95 corridor. so this is going to be a very fluid situation as we watch it evolve. come sunday it clears out. we will catch a brief break because notice by monday and i think frankly guys it looks like monday morning in time for commute we have our next system moving in and it will be bringing as you digsal light snow. vittoria good thanks very much katie. good morning everyone. traveling on the majors you will find rush hour but one thing do i want to you know that even though you are not seeing any snow on the roadway and i'm sure you heard us say this all day long, it is thaw would never want to proceed with these roadways without a little extra caution even though you don't see know on the ground. we still have threat for black ice and we are still going to have slick spots in the area and there have been reports of, fog and just a light drizzle will in places as well. so you do want to watch out, there has been a travel advisory for the pennsylvania turnpike, so, i do want to make sure i reiterate that for you files. if you are about to go on the schuykill expressway or know someone traveling on the schuylkill, we are westbound jammed approaching city avenue, more for the the roosevelt boulevard all the way throughout your western suburbs and approaching at your use of conshohocken. we will run into more traffic approaching king of prussia this shot of the belmont avenue off ram the from the eastbound side. heading eastbound around king

lab, hi carol. >> well, hi, katie, we are in wilmington right now we still have a few little flurries coming down, not that long ago just as a remind their this clipper system is diminishing and just about gone. we will continue with the chance of picking up still a little bit more moisture. we're in the market street area, of wilmington sidewalks, cleared, the road is fine but we have seen kids going to school with no problem whatsoever but just know in this many area that are less urban then this you are likely to find walking in the roads because sidewalks are covered in all that snow and trucks have not been out in their neighborhoods on these side streets. so depending on where you are it is a whole different weather picture. 295, flipped over salt trucks with two tractor trailer involved as well that was 295 south in paulsboro that is all cleared up, we have temperatures in the mobile weather lab that continue to whoever at this point now above freezing and 34 degrees and that is good news as we drive down a hill here in wilmington. but so much going on through all of these areas this morning and it is just going to be gearing up for next system that comes, it looks like it will be more, significant in terms of precipitation by the weekend. the lets check the on the rest of the road with vittoria. good morning, everyone. if you are traveling on the majors as car will ol was mentioning we are not seeing too much snow on the roadway if any. we are seeing more of this throughout the neighborhoods and even lingering on the sidewalks and such. but as we look at our majors and bridges again no snow on the roadway, however you do

do traffic and a weather together and that is coming up in just a few moments. but first a developing story, search is on for a man who robbed a variety store in germantown, and then shot an employee in the face. >> we're told a toddler was behind the counter when the gun fire rang out. "eyewitness news" reporter jan carabao is at philadelphia police headquarters right now with more, jan. >> reporter: ukee and erika a very scary situation. the store employee was shot three times, shot the once in the face. he is in critical condition in the hospital. he a may not survive. at the very least he will likely lose one of his eyes. the as you mentioned this robbery and shooting all unfolded in front of the little boy. let look at a video this happened just after 8:30 wednesday night at this store on the 1200 block of east stafford street in germantown. once police arrived they found a five three-year old store employee shot once in the leg, once in the face rather and twice in the leg. he was taken to iron exton hospital. witnesses tell police this us is peck enter the store wearing a white hoodie and ski mask. after robbing the store police say he shot the store employee who had been working in the back of the deli. the the suspect ran away. there were two customers in the the store and other employees including the store's owner who was standing just 15 feet away from the suspect when he opened fire. >> the owner of the the store a female was holding a two-year old boy behind the counter, at the time of this robbery and shooting. fortunately, in one else was.

>> police are interviewing witnesses. unfortunately there were no surveillance cameras in the store they were actually scheduled to be installed later on this week. however police were dusting the front door for fingerprints hoping that the suspect was in the wearing any gloves. reporting live outside the philadelphia police headquarters jan carabao for "eyewitness news" at cw philly. right now coming up at 8:33. lets get a check of the forecast, katie good morning. >> forecast overall is pretty quiet initially,er contact we have been talking about that possibility of left over icy spots but the the the system that was responsible for bringing us the the snow yesterday, that has since retreated, and so is what going on here when we take you out to storm scan three. we do still have lingering moisture out there but it is fizzling. we may see a ren gate snow flake or patch have of drizzle here and there and maybe patches of fog but generally, the brunt of that system is long gone. you can see it zooming way out, all have the billowing cloud justin to blow away from our area. now they are more of an atlantic canadian concern as the afternoon progresses and we will see more sunshine because of that at have afternoon progresses. currently our temperatures are at or below freezing bull all of the winter weather advisories have been all allowed to expire. so it will only get better from here in terms of the any kind of concern with your travel. as the day progresses expecting temperatures to basically hit very seasonal territory. lower 40's both down the shore and in the city. up in the poconos. you'll start off with the cloud, as the same as everybody else but will get only in the mid 30's as the day goes on. we have to talk about what is coming down the pike here

guys quiet for now but it is a brief break because we are watching for a next coastal storm and this looks like it could be a big one for us looking ahead to saturday. so some snow rain ice potential all included there and even more snow in our forecast on monday. so we will talk more about that dunn the road but we will get a check on, no pun intended, on the road, so we will send things out to meteorologist carol erickson live with the mobile weather lab for us hi carol. >> we are in the the heart of wilmington right new downtown, it is morning, people are coming down, going to work and we are finding very light precipitation on the windshields this morning in the mobile weather lab. fortunately in the mobile weather lab we have a temperature that is above freezing. it is 35 degrees. that is good news. even though all of these road have been salted, cleared out and that sort of thing. with any precipitation coming down in an elevation the word you have a temperature close to freezing just take it easy out there. this is tempes basically gone but just enough remains that it can be a hassle. you can see how gray it is. you should know and probably do know that fog, even fog can freeze on a cold surface. in the wintertime all of these thanks come to mind very quickly out on the road. even though it looks dry and things have been salted sanded that sort of thing what we saw on 295 was a salt truck overturn and two tractor trailer jackknife. that is why even treated conditions can sometimes even up being very slippery a lot of hills in wilmington. they also can be a problem. we're in the finding any

issues out here at this point this morning. however that is not to say that over the weekend you will not be dealing with a whole other set of problems as we sit here in traffic and people say you know what glad this within wasn't worse in our area and they just wait for the the rest of the winter and hopefully the rest of the winter, will be, quiet. it does than the look like it over the next couple of days, but maybe gannon monday. thanks so much carol. you know, traveling in delaware we are in the seeing too many problems. usual volume traveling on route one, i-95 in that area but for the most part dell war is moving fairly nice. if you are traveling in pennsylvania, it is a different story. we have rush hour sprinkled all over the map. ninety-five, schuylkill, blue route, 422, 202, all of the shall spots and traveling on the pennsylvania turnpike as well where they have a travel advisory because they are still seeing fog in that area watch out for, low visibility this morning. if you are traveling on i-95 southbound you are delayed from the northeast through to center city. it is a no fun zone. the just like schuylkill expressway. seventy-six, if you are traveling westbound, that is this area here approaching city avenue you are jam from the boulevard all the way through, to just about the stretch of conshohocken. you have eastbound delays in your western suburbs as well and approaching the vine street expressway. the delays on the schuylkill are affecting the roosevelt boulevard as they usually do. lets talk about the southbound side, of new jersey turnpike. we have a fatal accident. we have reports of possible multiple fatalities. we will keep you updated on
