mark the 7 0th anniversary of the japanese attack on pearl harbor. this day december 7th, 1941 japanese planes attacked the u.s. harbor. again, this day 1941. david copenhagger lives in hawaii this morning but is 10 miles from pearl harbor and dave joins us with what he has learned from a great story at pearl harbor about the first casuality at that battle. good morning. >> hi, good morning how you doing? >> good morning have you learned? >> i took a tour when i first moved here about a year ago. they told a story about one of the first tore peedos that hit the battle -- torpedos that hit the battleship utah and a piece of shrapnel went through somebody's window after flying across the harbor and hit a guy, a man in his shower taking a shower. and he was listed as the first casuality of pearl harbor. >> and that's amazing.

what else have you learned you are miles from the site. surely you go back for this historical lesson from time to time? >> every time you go there you learn something. it's very, very moving. it's a very moving and solemn experience when you are actually on the arizona memorial and looking below you and realizing the ship is literally feet away from you. and that there's over 1100 men that are still entombed there and it is just a tremendously moving experience. i have been several times. and every time you learn a little something new and you just have a respect for what the men and women of the military did not not only back then but today as well. >> dave thanks so much for your time. hopefully we can check in later throughout the day if you are attending the memorials and ceremonies. maybe a live report from you maybe later possibly thanks a lot. >> thanks have a great day. time to move on to the show this morning because we will head downtown to sherrie johnson where she is live this morning on how one of the ships from that battle will be

remembered later today. sherrie where are you? >> reporter: i am here at pier 5 in downtown baltimore. take a look behind me here. a little later today there will be a special ceremony recognizing the 25th and merse any of the coast guard ship taney. it was one of the fighting ships in pearl harbor during the attack on this day in 1941. tan yew's crew manned the cutter's antiaircraft guns after receiving words of the -- taney's crew manned the cut are's antiaircraft guns after receiving word of the attacks. i got to tell you, it's a chance at that few years ago to go to the memorial in hawaii and it's an amazing sight. so a very somber day as we remember those that were wounded and killed during the surprise attack. reporting live in downtown

bel air area, dealing with lighter rain across the area. but, we are not going to get a big break because that's when we will see heavy rain moving in going through time. pushing in from dc along i-95 the corridor is going to be a wet one. with all the wet rain the potential for it we have a flood watch. >> he text from 1 p.m. through tonight with the areas here shaded in the green. and then we will get in on the winter side of this on the backside. 7 p.m. wednesday, to 3 a.m. thursday, we have a winter weather advisory for the areas here shaded in the blue. and i have the man here to talk about the snow. justin back to you. >> yeah. i was stepping on a your maps. sorry. basically north and west of the day i-95 is a typical barrier. basically this is what's happening. we have a long line of convague belt of moisture and it's the boundary 50s and 60s on eastern end and we are in there tha right now. 30s and colder on the other side. i keep pointing out memphis, tennessee slow from the last convenient getting it from this one.

energy reaching into the system will catch up to the bottom side and pivot through overnight. we get the most intense energy heading to around midnight and that's when we pull the cold air and could have rumble of thunder as we turn over in the baltimore area from that rain over to snow. here's snowfall expectation. still a slushy dusting to an inch on the grass near the bay. that includes an a list and near an inch around bwi and downtown baltimore and 2 to 3 inches up to the north with westminster and north towards york p.a.2 to 4 inches and higher amounts on the hill tops. we are talking about the brief period of intense precipitation. and we will be falling through the 50s and that snow overnight ends before daybreak tomorrow and we are looking at temperatures in the 40s through the weekend angela. >> reporter: still dealing with the accident on the east side of the beltway in dundalk. easton boulevard shut down. that's the shoulder that's clothesed -- closed. and a closure on the on ramp. expect bottle neck delays in that area. weather and traffic at that 9 and 5 and now -- 25 and 55.
