an invitation only memorial service will be held on friday night and president obama will deliver the eulogy. he will be lay to rest at the arlington cemetery near john and robert. >> kennedy died tuesday at the age of 77 after a year-long battle with brain cancer. for more about kennedy, go to wjz.com. >> a young woman found dead in a vehicle today. live in the news room with the developing story. >> city police say they responded to a call and discovered a young woman shot many the head and the chest. the scene was still blocked off with crime tape as investigators collected evidence.

they found the body inside an suv. police have not identified the woman but believe she's in her 30s. >> thank you. police ask you to call if you have any information about the case. in the northeast section of the city, a police-involved shooting ends with a woman wounded. police say they tried to stop a car when the driver tried to run them down. the driver got out and ran away. it's a woman passenger whose arm was hit. they're not sure if she was hit by a bullet or broken glass. >> danny is strengthening towards the east coast. the top winds are near 50 miles per hour. danny is on a path to clip the u.s., we could be in for a rough and rainy weekend. eyewitness news live with first warning coverage. let's go to marty who is tracking danny. good afternoon. give me your attention, i'll bust it down in pure english.

what is developing is a complex weather situation of which danny is only about 1/3 of. let's look at him on the satellite. about 5 50 miles southeast of the cape and makes a turn to the north and then northeast, the winds 50 miles per hour and we're expecting danny to strengthen. before i put it in motion, i want you to notice the time line, danny is a beam of the mouth of the chesapeake bay early saturday morning and 12 hours later danny is long gone. going to turn into a category one hurricane. danny will throw, come back here, danny will throw a bunch of moisture at us. inland about 1/2 inch of rain.

winds of sustained 40 miles per hour along the coast of ocean city, a steady breeze here in baltimore. here's where it gets complicated. now, not only do we have a source of moisture, we have a warm front starting to sag and stall over the region. additional source of rain starting tomorrow through tomorrow night and probably all day saturday. come back here. that's 2/3 of the equation. now we see a cold front to the west that will slide in saturday and sunday. that's going interact with this warm, humid air mass and the remnants of danny and give us more shower activity saturday night into sunday. danny is 1/3 of the problem that could include some rain and maybe some flooding. we'll have updates through the

. the u.s. navy says pirates attacked its helicopter. the navy says the helicopter was not hit and there's no injuries. it marks the first time the

pirates have not at a navy helicopter. the highly contagious dog flu spreading across the country. the virus jumped from horses to dogs in 2004. a small portion of dogs can develop severe disease. a new vaccine given approval in the u.s. police in new mexico say a man was arrest for his 22nd dui. officers found the 51-year-old passed out in his car wednesday night. he had 16 out of state dui arrests and five in new mexico. can crew got more than they bargain for. >> don't put that camera in my face. ma'am. >> the woman came out cursing and wielding the garden hoe

now, complete forecast and the first warning of severe weather. good morning. good afternoon. 18 minutes after the hour. now we're getting closer to the event that we call danny, because he's going to be the primary driver for a complex weather situation. but the cards are not going down faceup. let me go ahead and again run this by you, what is really three weather systems appearing to be one storm.

danny is going to be the driver. just kind of chugging along, 5 50 miles southeast, he's gaining strength, sustained winds at 50 miles per hour. he will get to 75 miles per hour, hurricane strength here along the northeast carolina capes if you will. the next thing, we're talking about a weather system involving three different parts that will be called danny. the moisture overruns, that's the second source of rain and then the computer model, you'll see the cold front to the west, saturday night into sunday, this comes in on what will be the warm humid sticky air mass we're calling danny. it's three completely different weather systems if you will that combine to bring us a slug

of moisture. this is danny, watch him come up the coast and turns into a hurricane. he will be a beam of ocean city saturday morning early on right will ever dawn and we'll be long gone by saturday night at midnight. do understand, that's not the end of the event. the watch warning and advisory graphics are now, we'll have coastal problems, problems on the eastern shore because of danny himself, between the warm front, the overrunning moisture, i can see a bit of flood watches and warnings breaking out because we're going to see a couple two, three inches of rain, we will be under the umbrella called danny but not danny himself. don't kid yourself, there will be problems, sustained winds, good rainfall and the storm is not big enough to run everyone out of town. this is not a good scene coming
