ee ebola is in new york city. the man is craig spencer. a doctor that returned from west africa where he was treating ebola patients. preliminary tests show he tested positive for ebola. tracy davidson following this story for us. what do we know about this patient and how many people he came into contact with after he got back into the states? >> we know dr. spencer gave a detailed account between the time he arrived back in the states and yesterday.

he flew into new york's jfk a week ago. on wednesday he first felt tired. when you first feel symptoms, that's when you became contagious. last night they announced the test results. mayor de blasio said there's no reason for people to be alarmed. >> we've been preparing for months for the threat posed by ebola. we have clear and strong protocols followed and were followed in this incidence. >> before he got sick, he went to highline park, rode the subway. while feeling fatigued he rode in a an uber taxi. as we've been telling you, it's not airborne. taxi company officials told the

cdc told them they or the taxi riders were not at risk. thomas duncan, who died, along with two nurses who treated him, nina pham who is in good condition and amber vinson was declared ebola free. two close friends are quarantined out of an abundance of caution. justin gary is on his way to new york and he'll have a live new york coming up. tracy davidson, nbc 10 news. there are no suspected ebola cases in this area however some people are being monitored more closely. three people from bucks county are being monitored. it's done out of precaution.

health care workers in gouser county are offering ebola training. and children's hospital of philadelphia says it's ready to provide care to any kids who may get ebola. the cdc has designated c.h.o.p. as a place to handle ebola cases. they established an ebola task force. now, we know there is a lot of concern. a lot of people are nervous about ebola, especially this news out of new york city. we're breaking down fact versus fiction. first, from the cdc, it's not spread through the air or by water or, in general, by food. the only way you can get ebola is by touching the goodably floods of a person with ebola. people are not contagious until they show symptoms. you can also get ebola by touching contaminated objects

municipalities. this began in palmer township about 3 1/2 miles away. they chased the man to easton to north spring street and spring garden where there was some kind of crash with his pick up. it seems to have crashed into the side of a home. his pickup truck seems to be on the sidewalk. there was an incident between man and shots fired and we understand the man of a pickup truck is dead. we were able to bring you this live picture but we'll have more information in the next few minutes. we'll see you around 4:30. seven minutes after 4:00. joey mrelino on the left you are your screen. they say he's still involved in

organized crime. his attorney says he's been working an honest job in florida. a judge in delaware will decide to dismiss the child pornography against a head master. christopher wheeler was charged. the judge's ruling on that motion is expected to come today. he stepped down as head master after being charged with 25 charges have counts of dealing in child porn. there was no evidence he abused students or any other students. timothy cidell will be charged for killing a police officer. he pleaded guilty in the death of christopher reeves. he was fleeing from reeves when he crashed into reeves' police car. he was traveling over 70 miles an hour with a blood alcohol

level over the twice the level limit. a bucks county high school is coming to terms that it can't be able to play its final game due to hazing. in a statement released yesterday, the central bucks superintendent says he's canceled all varsity and junior varsity football games and all coaches have been suspended pending further investigation. some parents we talked to were upset because they were notified via e-mail yesterday and given no specifics. >> hiding behind an e-mail? really? it was unprofessional to send the children home, the boys, to tell us what had gone down. that's cowardly. >> what did go down? we contacted the police chief. he says new team members were forced to grab private parts of other players and were subjected to some sort of waterboarding in

we continue to follow breaking news from overnight. a doctor in new york city, this man, craig spencer, is being treated for ebola. he just returned to the u.s. from west after aka where he was doing work for doctors without boefrders. they know his fever spiked yesterday. when he went to the hospital and confirmed to have ebola. they're trying to trace people who had contact with him over the last few days. we'll have live reports from new york city coming up in our 5:00 hour. stay tuned for that. also from new york, we have new video of this hatchet attack on new york city police officers. look at this man running up. you won't see the officers. you see him with the hatchet. he hit two officers with the axe. one hit in the head and in

critical condition. the other officer shot and killed that man. he's from california with a criminal record. police say some of his social media postings say he may have been influenced by islamic extremists. police officers are to be on alert after attacks to uniformed soldiers. we have new video of a gunman who went into parliament shooting in ottawa. the shooter is michael. >> he half zehah-bibeau. u.s. officials say he has links to known jihadists. security videos show bibeau after he shot and killed army reservist nathan cirillo. he hijacked a car. once inside, he open fire in the main hallway.

no one was hit by his gunfire inside the hallway. he was eventually shot and killed. also this morning the man who was seen jumping a fence at the white house is scheduled for monday court hearing and mental evaluation. a judge ordered dominik adesanya, charged with allegi allegingly kicking two police dogs after jumping the white house fence. in july he was charged with jumping over a security barrier. the obama administration says it's looking at new ways of beefing up security, including a higher fence around the white house and u.s. capitol. nbc 10 is your station for decision 2014 coverage with 11 days to go before midterm elections.

senator cory booker has 57% compared to jeff bell, 33%, released yesterday by stockton institute. two candidates running for congress in bucks county squared off in their final debate, fits patrick and stouse. fitzpatrick said legalizing drugs is a gateway to drug path. on the issue of health care both said they would like to retain portions of the obamacare law. fitzpatrick has called to repeal affordable care act and replace it. both agree washington and congress are dysfunctional and far too partisan. >> in addition to that, we not only need redirect reform, we need term limits.
