two teenagers are in critical condition after a hit and run in delaware. this is a live look at where it happened at a and town send streets in wilmington. the teens were each driving dirt bikes when they collided with a dark colored suv. that suv drove off from the scene. investigators are still looking for the vehicle. the search is on for the gunman who shot and killed a pregnant mother in philadelphia. and tonight her newborn baby is fighting for his life. that mother had been identified at 26-year-old megan dotto originally from bensalem bucks county smeep was shot in the face around 11:00 this morning in the 1500 block of adam street in the frankfort section. she was taken to temple university hospital where the baby was delivered by cesarean section. jesse gary joins us live from the scene. you learned she was likely not the intended target? >> that's right. investigators say she was sitting outside her home here

right by this utility pole with a man earlier this morning. they believe he was the intended target. unfortunately gunfire only hit the woman who was soon to give birth. >> just -- >> reporter: shortly before 11:00 a.m. this morning, the crime tape at adams avenue. the victim was a 26-year-old pregnant woman named megan dotto. she was a recent transplant who stayed close to home. >> she was a good person. she stuck to herself. all she did was really sit outside with her friends. >> reporter: crime scene detectives say the shooter was in a light colored impala. the driver went the wrong way up griscom firing a hail of bullets at a man sitting alongside meggon dotto. >> we suspect he was being shot at by these individuals. >> reporter: one shot hit megan in the face. responding officers rushed her to temple university hospital

where doctors performed an energy c-section to save the baby. the baby was saved but meg abwho had two other children died. >> my daughter could have been here. i could have been walking back from the store. >> that's a shame. >> reporter: we're last told the infant is in critical condition. megan chose the name of carmine for her son long before this morning's shooting. investigators don't have any substantial information about the shooter or the driver. but if you have any information, call east detectives. jesse gary, nbc 10 news. the reward for information in the deadly ambush of a pennsylvania state trooper has grown $50,000. corporal brian dickson was killed in the shooting. trooper alex douglass was critically hurt. they were ambushed as one was

leaving the barracks and another was arriving. they were ambushed friday night. vehicles are also being stopped at a checkpoint nearby. authorities believe friday night's attack was directed specifically at law enforcement. new at 6:00, a power outage brings the fun to a halt at six flags great adventure in ocean county. we're told some people were stuck on rides but they were all able to get off safely. police say a transformer issue is to blame and crews restoerd power to part of the park. now they are working to restore power to the rest of the property. now to a developing story overseas. british officials have named a second uk hostage being held by the islamic state group. alan henning is being threatened in the latest video inspect that video, henning is shown briefly on camera and also threatened with death nepislamic group released a video yesterday

showing the beheading of another british hostage david haynes. the aid worker was captured in syria in march last year. haynes' family says they do not blame the islamic religion for david's death. if you live or work in kenneth square, boil your tap water. the advisory is the result of a water main break yesterday on east south street. crews are still trying to fix that leak. about a quarter of homes have no water at all but kennett square's mayor says it should go back to normal this week. there are no signs of contamination but urge everyone to boil tap water before drinking it just to be safe. it is starting to feel a lot like fall in the delaware valley. nbc 10 in philadelphia's square where folks enjoying being out in the sunshine after yesterday's rain. we're also experiencing much cooler temperatures.

here's a look at boat house row where things are pretty quiet tonight. glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here. can we expect this fall-like weather to stick around for some time? >> yeah, denise, it is. it's going to be pretty cool tonight. that's not the only night. we have a few high clouds but that will lead to a really nice looking sunset. we're in the mid to upper 60s, despite on that sunshine. the average high is close to 80 degrees. but as we go through the evening, you can see it's going to really cool off fast by 11:00. 58 degrees in philadelphia. even some 40s in the suburbs. these are the low temperatures tonight. 42 in allentown. 44 in quakertown. 47 in doylestown. 40s in south jersey and even delaware. a lot of places in the 40s by the time you get up in the morning. we'll see how long this chilly weather lasts and if there's any rain this week.

a pennsylvania state trooper is recovering tonight after an suv slammed into the back of his cruiser on the schuylkill expressway this morning. it happened on montgomery drive. the trooper is expected to be okay. state police arrested the driver of the suv and say he may have been under the influence. we're just hours away from the crowning of a new miss america. a look at how the event is giving atlantic city a much-needed boost.

♪ members of philadelphia's eastern european communities rallied against russian aggression in ukraine. the rallies took place this afternoon on independence mall. the group is worried that if russian president vladimir putin's military actions in ukraine are not stopped, they may spread to their homeland. meanwhile, there is more trouble for the fragile cease-fire in eastern ukraine. several residential neighborhoods in donn donetsk c under repeated shelling last night. ukraine's defense minister announced nato weapons are en route to help them combat the pro-russian separatists. a sea of pink in south philadelphia as more than 1,000 people end a three-day walk to fight breast cancer.

nbc 10 at the navy yard as the susan g. komen three-day walk came to a close. hundreds of people decked out in pink walked more than 60 miles to raise money and awareness for breast cancer. their journey began friday morning in willow grove. some walked for survivors. others to honor loved ones lost to the disease. after months of bad news, atlantic city is get something positive publicity thanks to miss america. the pageant will present an upbeat view of the city in tonight's nationally televised competition. it will feature iconic atlantic city visuals including its beach, boardwalk, the steel pier, blackfish pier and the atlantic city beach patrol station. now your nbc 10 first alert weather with chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz. >> all right. well, we have some really cool weather out there.

and it is going to continue as we go through not only the night tonight but much of the week. this is really unusual for september. the chilly, chilly night. we're tracking showers that are going to be coming through, but not a whole lot of rain this week. and that cool weather will return after those showers go through. we have high clouds around there right now. and the temperature is 68 degrees. the humidity 49%. winds out of the southwest at 9 miles an hour. we have seen temperatures in the 80s last week. high today only 69. it just kept going down. tomorrow it will go up a little bit. but we're not going to be anywhere near average all week. these are just some high thin clouds that will make the sunset look even nicer. it's a fairly dry pattern. no real significant moisture anywhere in the country. as we go through the day tomorrow, we find lots of sunshine. there's going to be a front coming through late tomorrow

night and into tuesday morning with a band of showers and that's it. by tuesday morning's rush, it may already be gone. and then the sun comes right back out. well, we have hurricane edouard way out in the atlantic. that's going to be a fish storm and not bother anybody, but there is a major hurricane about to hit baja, california, that you'll be hearing a lot more about unfortunately over the next few days. for tonight, clear and unseasonably cool. 52 for a low in the city. 52 north and west. during the day tomorrow, mostly sunny after that cool start. not a bad finish. mid-70s. and the seven-day forecast, some early showers on tuesday. but look at these temperatures. the average high is near 80. we're not even close to it until next sunday. look at that friday. high of only 70 with sunshine.

honored on what would have been his 37th birthday. the family of plymouth township police officer brad fox joined dozens of neighbors and fellow officers for a tribute at the hartsfield fire company. they unveiled new signs unveiling a stretch of roadway to the fox roadway. he was killed in the line of duty in 2012. his canine partner was also shot but survived and now lives with the fox family. all right. we are still in summer mode, right, but it feels like fall. >> it does not feel like summer this morning. and it's going to be even cooler tomorrow morning across much of the area. and that's not the only cool morning that we're going to have. >> all right. >> that's nbc 10 news for now. for glenn, john and all of us, i'm denise nakano. we'll see you tonight after the game.
