view of the damage caused by this brush fire in anne arundel county. 600 acres were affected by the blaze. the 911 call went out at about 11:15 on saturday morning. >> keeping tabs on stuff, embers burning. it was a long night. >> she was not just concerned about her home, but the whole area. >> our family has been here since 1899. one of the buildings burned was a log cabin that has been in our family for years. >> the firefighters were able to contain the blaze on saturday. this weekend's weather may have caused some obstacles for firefighters. >> the blaze was of control for a long period of time. we had relatively low humidity. >> we are here and we saw all of

the smoke coming up. it took a hold and kept on going. >> only a couple of construction people -- a construction trailers and barnes were destroyed. no homes were damaged. >> we were blessed that it was not a major incident. >> the fire officials were trying to figure out where that fire may have started and what may have started it. >> thank you. here is a look at the fires that brought traffic on parts of interstate 95 to a standstill on saturday. officials were forced to call in help from other counties to control the fires that were spreading rapidly with strong winds. you can share your weather photographs with us. baltimore county police are investigating a deadly shooting in parkville.

a man was shot several times outside of an exxon gas station. it is not clear whether he was a customer or employee of the store. no word on a suspect or a motive. it does not appear to be a robbery. the search continues for a man that shot two men in northeast baltimore. it happened on clifton avenue. both men were taken to hospitals, one man later died. there is no word on a possible motive. a total of seven people were shot this weekend. volunteers in montgomery county passed out more than 500 flyers this weekend in order to help catch a man that raped two elderly women in germantown. they believe he is between the ages of 16-25. >> i think of my grandmother.

anybody that has a grandmother would say, how could anybody raped their grandmother? we do what we can as volunteers to help the police find this person. >> they believed that the man is responsible for the rape of a 69 and 89-year-old woman. if you have any information, you are asked to call montgomery county police. a homeless man was shot and killed by an officer on saturday. he got into an argument while holding a sharp object in his hand. the officer opened fire when he refused to drop his weapon. he has been placed on administrative leave pending the result of a department investigation. the u.s. government is facing a budget backlash that could soon put it out of business. a government shutdown, the first

an interesting study out of toronto in tonight's medical alert. they say that speaking two languages may delay the onset of alzheimer's. they found that those that were bilingual were diagnosed with alzheimer's four or five years later than those who spoke only one language. scientists say that if you learn late in life, you still get the benefit. those that lose their hearings are more likely to get dementia than those that do not. they say that straining to understand sounds may lead to stress. or they may tend to be less social. for parts of the upper midwest,

snowfall and high wind gusts have made life unbearable. forecasters say up to 15 inches of snow will fall by monday in minnesota and wisconsin with up to 20 inches possible in other parts of the midwest. >> and now your forecast with john collins. >> let's look at the forecast closer to home. we have the activity around the baltimore area. indications on parts of frederick county as well, indications of a little bit of sleet or snow flakes. the further you get into pennsylvania, the more likely you will see sleet or snow activity. temperatures were closer to normal for this time of the season. 51 was the high today at the airport.
