>> it's primary election day in maryland as voters head to the polls to cast their ballot. good afternoon, everyone. i'm sara eisen. -- sara caldwell. that's our top story at noon. you, the voters will decide who you want to see on the billion lot. lisa robinson is live at the polling site in east baltimore with a look at voter turnout. >> it is a beautiful day outside but not helping turnout baltimore city. most of the people you see in here are squdges and very few people are actually at the voting machines. for the most part the state board of elections reports no widespread problems. they did have some late openings and instances where judges did not show up. there are some 319,000 registered democrats and

republicans in baltimore city. the city board of elections says turnout has been extremely low in the city. by 11:00 a little over 15,000 people voted, up from 6,000 this morning. considering the number of contested races in this city, this is disappointing. >> this is unbelievable. it's, just seems to be a lot of folk are either fed up with the process. a lot of people seem to be not happy with status quo. you know, but my thing is you just need to vote. doesn't matter to me who you vote for. you need to exercise your right to vote. >> i will be back live at 5:00 and 6:00 with updates. reporting live in baltimore.

scheduled on the bill later today. i'm kate amara. back to you, sarah. >> new this noon, police are searching for a suspect in a deadly shooting in southeast baltimore. officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest on the 1,700 block of cane street. he was taken to bay view hospital where he died. >> also carroll county sheriffs are investigating a stabbing death. 26-year-old jeremiah demarrio was found 10:00 p.m. last night on a staircase outside his apartment. police say he had been stabbed in the chest. investigators say neighbors called 911, and he was taken to carol hospital center, where he died. testimony is expected to continue in the ken harris murder trial. yet monica robinson was reportedly with harris the night of the incident. took the stand and said harris was in a hurry when he returned

to the car trying to get away from a masked gunman. robinson said she didn't recall hearing a gunshot but the defense pointed out she did say she heard a shot in an earlier recorded statement to police. >> baltimore police are trying to figure out how they ended up in a car in the 800 block of eighth avenue -- they were not sure how the car got where it was found. meanwhile, power is expected to be returned in little italy. power was knocked out early in the morning after an underground cable fire sent white smoke spewing into the air from fawn and south heights street. >> it woke me up with a big thumping. then i heard the electrical sparking. i was sleeping right upstairs.
