tonight, police are asking parents to talk to their kids -- and asked her to do the same. the suspect ran into an elementary school and managed to elude police search teams for several hours. 11 news' john sherman has the story. >> when the 26-year-old keon earl ran into william paca elementary school, he hid in a cabinet all day long. >> early this morning, we received a call about a person potentially selling drugs or trying to purchase drugs in this area. >> an evacuation quickly ensued. >> we were able to get all the children and all of the staff out the and they were able to get swat in and begin their search. we were looking for one person, and we knew it would take some time. we saw some of the cameras, and

swim club, about two weeks ago when they were suddenly kicked out -- denying swimming privileges. club members complained about the kids, andç some campers evn over heard racist comments. >> like, why are there so many black kids here, and she was afraid they would do something to the children. >> it would be wise if they invited the people back. >> pennsylvania's are arlen specter as called for investigation. there was concern a lot of kids would change the complexion an atmosphere of the club. the valley club issued another statement, saying the allegations of racism are not true. >> well, it seems like the safest place to play is in shallow water, but every year, some people suffer dangerous injuries close to shore. >> 11 news kerry cavanaugh

traveled to ocean city to see how the beach patrol is saving lives with it's unique technique. >> ocean city's beaches offer a place to relax, soak up the sun, and catch a wave -- with its unique techniques. sometimes, the waves can be punishing, breaking in a way that results in serious injury, even death. >> it is pretty ironic that i almost died 20 feet from shore in about 3 feet of water, about that much water, being that i was a rescue swimmer for the u.s. secret service. >> he says he found himself defenseless against a large wave while body surfing in july 2008. we spoke to him shortly after his accident. >> what i remember about it is catching the wave, and then, it took me up to the top of it, and iç was probably 6 feet in the

upper body is not allowed to move. that works as well as a backboard. in fact, when you have somebody strapped into a ba( (áqthey do not feel any more secure than when one of our people have them. >> instead of the waves breaking out in deep water which is safer, the waves continue to çbuild as they approach the shore. those large waves break on a shallow, sandy incline, putting you at greater risk. 2,000 pounds of force, and when it slams you headfirst into the shore, the sand can feel just as hard as concrete. the best way to protect yourself is to swim only when lifeguards are on duty. keep somebody starting safety tips in mind. -- keep some body surfing safety tips in mind.
